About this property

5km of stunning silky white sand & crystal water is just a 2 minute walk away

Ideal for a relaxing getaway for one or a couple and tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac this open plan studio is private, well equipped, and comfortable. Large bi-fold doors open onto a restful garden with places to sit in sun or shade. The outlook is to the expansive park and bush-clad Bluff hill behind. Only a few minutes walk to our stunning beach with safe swimming in the inviting, crystal clear water.

Great little kitchenette with a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, bench top oven, microwave, plug-in elements, and electric frying pan, suitable for preparing simple meals. An electric barbecue is also supplied for cooking outdoors.

Roomy, airy space, presented in sparkling clean order, with a comfy queen-sized bed, with fresh linen, comfy chairs, and dining table. Large, soft bath towels are supplied, with a clean set supplied each second day.

Matarangi beach is stunning with white silky sand and safe swimming. With tennis courts, a handy supermarket and other shops, an 18 hole golf course, and cafe, Matarangi is centrally located for easy drives to many of the Coromandel peninsula's best attractions. Local walks abound with magnificent views of beaches and expansive landscapes.

Iconic Kuaotunu is only 5 mins drive featuring Luke's kitchen and cafe, and further on, the stunning beaches of Otama and Opito bay.

Whitianga is just 20 minutes away with The Lost Spring hot pools and restaurants, boat hire, tours, kayaking, many dining options, lovely shops, supermarkets, and art galleries. From here you can easily drive or take a boat ride to Cathedral Cove, Hahei and Hot Water Beach.

Coromandel town is also only a 20 minute drive and features Driving Creek Railway (12 gauge train ride with a fabulous story of how it came to be, and amazing views from the top). Loads of locally produced artworks on sale at many galleries, a supermarket, and stunning scenery.

New Chum beach is easily accessed from Whangapoua beach which is a 15 minute drive away. Visitors then cross a stream, walk round the shore and over a small headland to this remote beach with Nikau forest right down to the sand.

Sandra left great directions for getting to the beach which was closer than I thought, about a 5 minute walk, and was very friendly - and thanks again for the delicious raw fish salad you brought over, that fresh Snapper was amazing. This property was exactually as advertised. The Matarangi Beach was amazing and safe. Family wedding weekend

We attended a family wedding at nearby Whangapoua and decided to stay at Matarangi. I'm glad we did. Sandra had everything we needed, which was basically just the bed, but she offered so much more, we enjoyed the quiet, the beach and the interesting and fun conversations as well. Had a lot of laughs. A very enjoyable stay away from home with no worries.

Great Little Place to Stay

Property clean and tidy, with everything you need for a short to medium length stay. Host is friendly and engaging, takes interest in you as people and your lifestyle. Lovely place to stay. Nice lil garden for reading a book. Perfect for walking access to beach and cycle to nearby shop and cafe. Bring toilet roll and shower gel as limited supply. We did buy some toilet roll and shower gel and left it behind for the next guests to use. :)

A week in the Coromandel

The property is well located in a pretty little township close to a lovely beach. Mid-winter was probably not the best time to visit. In summer, one wall can be completely opened up to the garden. The bed was certainly very comfortable but the 'studio' is cramped and the facilities, particularly for food preparation, were below our expectations.

Quiet hide away

Great place to stay. clean, dry and comfortable. whilst a little cold when a cold blast came through, Sandra did provide the oil heater which made a big difference. Sandra was an excellent host. The location is quiet and close to the beach (short walk away).
