Really nice, except….

Would be a 5 star review if this house had internet and AC. Very nice and clean. Great location near the lake. But for $200/night, there needs to be AC and WIFI. The smart tv is great, but with no internet you’re stuck using the over the air antenna that only gets 4 channels. With a little investment, this place would be top notch!

On the plus side, great location in town yet right across the street from the Lake Huron beach. Unfortunately, much more on the minus side. We arrived to find a clogged toilet unresponsive to repeated plunging. The property management sent a rep on a four-hour drive to take care of it. That lasted four days until it happened again and he made the trip a second time. The third time I reported it to the caretaker but told her to have the owner fix the condition permanently, which he refused to do on our stay. So we used the toilet sparingly, and the public toilet at the beach as needed until our departure. The staff and management were terrific, but the owner needs to pay closer attention to his property. Other problems: wifi was claimed on the property's ad sheet, but none was available. More seriously, the door to the basement/side exit was locked. This is a grave violation of all building and fire codes, which require unobstructed egress from at least two locations. Our experience was terrible, and I would not recommend this property for more than a 1-2 night stay.

We're glad the location right across from the Lake Huron beach was a highlight of the stay. On the toilet issue, we addressed the clog right away and ultimately replaced the unit with a higher-capacity model to prevent future problems. The basement is not part of the guest space and is not permitted for rental use by the city, but every guest bedroom and living area has full window access for emergency egress in accordance with code. Regarding Wi-Fi, the property has never had internet service, and any reference to it elsewhere was not something we listed ourselves. We appreciate the feedback on the overall stay and will keep working to make sure future guests have a smooth experience from start to finish.
