Rustic Refuge: Simple Comfort tucked into the Blue Ridge Foothills- Log Cabin
At Respite Rentals, we believe rest is not a luxury — it’s a necessity. Our mission has always been to create spaces where guests can slow down, reconnect, and breathe deeply again. That vision comes to life most fully at Respite Ridge, our signature collection of cabins nestled along a quiet rise in the Blue Ridge foothills.
Here, the ridge itself becomes part of the experience — a gentle elevation that offers soft morning light, peaceful evenings, and a sense of being just far enough above the world to exhale. Each cabin is thoughtfully designed with natural textures, warm tones, and curated comforts that make every stay feel intentional.
Whether you’re sharing a bottle of wine on the porch, exploring the foothills, or simply savoring the quiet, Respite Ridge is where rest becomes a ritual. It’s the heart of what Respite Rentals stands for: calm, comfort, and the kind of peace that lingers long after you leave.
The Rustic Refuge Cabin, one of the Respite Ridge Collection is situated on a 10-acre mountain view estate less than one mile from Landrum town center and 4 miles from Tryon, NC. Rustic Refuge offers peace and solitude. Hang out on the large front porch or sit a spell on the back deck with a cup of coffee to watch the early morning deer graze the back field. Enjoy views of White Oak Mountain and Saluda Ridge in the Blue Ridge Mountain foothills while relaxing on the back porch with a glass of wine.
The Rustic Refuge Log Cabin is a cozy place to enjoy breakfast before heading to Main Street for antique shopping or Amish furniture exploring. Or you may decide to out for breakfast at Southern Manners, lunch at Hare and Hound, dinner at Soulisa’s and finish up with a glass of wine and live music at one of the local wineries including Overmountain Winery, Mountain Brook Winery or The Red Horse Inn.
Rustic Refuge is where the spirit of the mountains meets the comfort of home. Tucked beneath the trees at Respite Ridge, this cabin blends warm wood textures, natural elements, and a cozy, lived‑in charm that invites guests to settle in and stay awhile. It’s the kind of place where mornings start with coffee on the porch, afternoons drift by in peaceful quiet, and evenings are spent wrapped in blankets, sharing stories as the day fades.
Designed for travelers who crave simplicity without sacrificing comfort, Rustic Refuge offers a gentle return to what matters most — connection, calm, and the grounding beauty of the foothills. Whether you’re exploring nearby trails, savoring a slow meal, or simply enjoying the stillness, this cabin is a reminder that rest doesn’t have to be complicated.
At Rustic Refuge, the world feels softer, time feels slower, and every moment feels like a breath of fresh mountain air. This dog friendly cabin is only a few scenic miles from Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC), F.E.N.C.E. or Highway 11, the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Byway. For history buffs, attractions include the Landrum Depot Rail and History Museum (1949 Pullman Sleeper Car), Campbell's Covered Bridge and Poinsett Bridge (built in 1820).
Take a hike—short or long—to enjoy Green River Gorge, Blue Wall Preserve or Pearson Falls, or simply relax, read a good book, enjoy the mountain air, listen to the birds or take in exceptional stargazing in the foothill's night sky.
The cabin is well equipped with all the essentials and many nice-to-have extras. Nearby, Ingles offers a plentiful grocery selection and O’Darbys provides guidance on wine and spirits. On Saturday mornings, explore locally grown meat, produce and artisan crafts at the Landrum Farmer's Market located just 1/2 mile away. About the host
Hosted by Larry and Kim Phillips
We’re Kimberly and Larry, a husband‑and‑wife team who believe a home should offer more than a place to sleep—it should offer faith, family, rest, and memories. Our Christian faith shapes the way we host, and we see hospitality as a quiet ministry of creating peaceful spaces where people can breathe again.
As parents and grandparents, we know how precious time together is. That’s why our rentals are designed for connection—comfortable rooms, calming colors, and thoughtful touches that make it easy to slow down and enjoy the people you love.
We created Respite Rentals with one hope: that every guest leaves feeling restored, refreshed, and grateful for the memories made here. Whether you’re celebrating, reconnecting, or simply getting away, we’re honored to share our spaces with you.
Why they chose this property
Landrum is a great little town still charming in all the ways we remember small town USA. Landrum's slower pace and friendly welcoming feel brought us joy from the first day. Landrum's proximity to so many wonderful surrounding areas, made it the perfect fit to frequent Hendersonville, Asheville, Greenville and all the benefits, sites and scenes they offer.
What makes this property unique
Rustic Refuge is unique in that it offers privacy from traffic and yet still close to very close to town. Also, although the Rustic Refuge is very easy to get to and no significant grades to access it, in comparison the mountain views are spectacular.
