About this property
DOWNTIME: 4BR/3BA Lake Retreat w/ Sports Court, Near Snow and Lake Adventures
Downtime is situated on a sprawling quarter acre in Big Bear City. It is located on a quiet street . The amazing backyard has all the amenities required for a good vacation.
It has a Pickleball sports court that also has a pro style basketball court. Inside, the Grand Room is ideal for game playing and is a real hub of activity. The upstairs master offers a romantic self-enclosed retreat. If a quiet mountain retreat is what you are looking for, this is the place. The neighborhood rules make loud parties unwelcome which does make the stay quiet. Books encouraged. The owner, Frank Ferguson, is available 24/7. REVIEW HOUSE MANUAL BELOW FOR STAY DETAILS. HOME LIMITED to 8 vacationers.
The space
The back deck is excellent for stargazing on that clear summer night. The 1/4 acre property has a light set back, so most of the open space is in the rear. The sports court has a pickle ball court that can be used as a professional type basketball court. The upstairs master is an ideal retreat. There is an upright piano for a musically themed get away.
Guest access
There are 3 closets and a cabinet that are reserved for the owners; otherwise the guests have full access to 2 large closets and more than 8 kitchen cabinets. This is a house with washer / dryer and full amenities.
Other things to note
This is Big Bear City , California. The highest the temperature gets is around 89 degrees F with summer temperatures at the 72 degree average. When it is 100 plus degrees down the mountain, it generally stays in the low 80s. We have recently added 2 portable air conditioners for your summer comfort. The home rarely gets above 79 even without the portable air conditioners.
If the neighbors complain about the noise, trespassing or vandalism to their property, you can be immediately cancelled without refund. We do have a decibel reader and reporter on site to keep the property quiet after 9:30. Also, burning wood in or on the property is expressly prohibited as there is a gas fireplace. The county strictly enforces fire codes.

Check-out instructions
The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds, gather used towels and store extra beds
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
You can gather the bed clothing and linens in a pile for cleaning. Make sure to remove all your food from the pantry and the refrigerator.
The home should be in substantially the same condition as it was when you entered. We don't charge for cleaning so moving furniture around always takes extra effort on the crew.
Your biggest requirement is to leave with a smile on your face; as Big Bear is so much fun!!!
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

About the host
Hosted by Frank

We live in the San Gabriel Valley and have used this home in the mountains as our family retreat since 1995. We still use this home as the access is easy and the location is central to both shore lines (north and south). All of my children learned to ride bicycles on the street in front of the house. The neighborhood is a dog walking, friendly place. We've enjoyed star-gazing, snow-boarding, hiking, biking and boating while up in the mountains.
Why they chose this property
The neighbors are very friendly and you will daily see dog walkers and bicyclists even the coldest winters. The area is equally close to the North Shore as it is to the slopes so you get the full compliment of seasonal activities.
What makes this property unique
2 Full suites, 2 other bedrooms and a Grand room makes this home truly unique.
The Basketball court can be converted to a pickleball court with little effort. This is a real walking neighborhood of Big Bear City. Safe and secure and a blast for every family member. .
