Everything you could want and more in the cabin - peaceful and friendly location away from the hustle of Tahoe but only a quick 5-10 min drive to the center of Taho. Such a great place we will be back again!
Loved this little historic cabin with an outstanding location to enjoy the Truckee River and Tahoe nearby. We appreciated the cabin decor and the comfortable seating outside next to the gorgeous rushing river. Communication and check-in was super easy.
Stayed for 3 Nights with my son and best friend. Was a lovely spot on the river. Close to the lake and incredible hiking. Clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!

Thank you so much for choosing to come stay at our cottage Daniel! We hope to have you come stay with us again in the future! Every season at the cottage is a truly unique experience in its own wonderful way.
Loved our stay! Small cottage, just what we were looking for. And the Truckee River is Right There!! Had my morning tea watching the sun rise over the trees and river every morning.Very clean and well cared for. The weather turned in us from summer warm to thunderstorms at night. We were warm & cozy listening to it. Great location - close to the river walk, rafting and Tahoe City. Yet not to close. Quiet peaceful location.
Hans the property owner was an excellent communicator—he went above and beyond to answer my questions. There was record snowfall prior to our arrival and the snow removal and attention to the property was top notch. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in for a vrbo. Highly recommend you book any of the properties Hans owns. We hope to stay again soon!
Loved it. Modernized and very comfortable, with enough “Old Tahoe” touches remaining to be great fun. Very responsive and conscientious hosts. Quiet and relaxing with the river next door. Never had a better Tahoe stay. Convenient location to all that Tahoe offers.
Great location on Truckee River .Cottage extremely dated.Could use bathroom upgrade to plumbing. And exterior sealing for bug prevention.Maybe add a sink for doing dishes. With some minor upgrades could really be good.
You can’t beat this location for both beauty and convenience and not crazy crowded. We enjoyed 2 nights prior to the 4th of July and we were so glad we were staying here vs by the lake. It was quiet and convenient to restaurants. The Truckee River runs in the backyard and it’s so nice to sit by it for drinks and food. The 2 main rooms ( bedroom and family room) are ample size, modern and have everything you need. I will agree with other reviews that the bathroom could use an upgrade. The shower is extremely small but there is plenty of counter space. Hans, the owner, was very easy to work with and super communicative. He was staying in the area so we had a chance to chat with him. He was helpful with our biking path and restaurant questions. I definitely recommend this place.
This place has a grill, but doesn’t have a kitchen to prepare the food. Washing dishes or cooking anything else that’s not grill able is difficult. The bathroom is old and needs work. Lots of spiders inside and no thermostat to control the temperature, just a portable heater
We had the best time! The location was perfect for getting to the mountain and Tahoe City. The cabin was adorable and exactly as described. It was the perfect getaway!
This charming cottage is in a quiet and peaceful setting, surrounded by aspen trees and a front view seat of the Truckee River. It has that feeling of nature that immediately puts you at ease, at least it did for us. The cottage is a perfect place for a couple. Their second rental property allows you to invite loved ones and have plenty of space between the two properties. If you have a California fishing license, it’s just a few steps and you’re right on the river and we even caught fish! This was everything we were looking for when planning an elopement. Hans and Karen were kind enough to let us elope on the property, and we married on the lawn right in front of river. It was everything we could have hoped for and more for our special day.
Love the sound of the river. Very quite - none of the houses around us had anybody there when we were there. It was a very sweet anniversary for us.

About the host

Hello and Welcome!
A little bit about us, we are life long Bay Area natives growing up across the street from each other in Oakland, CA. In the Bay Area we love hiking through Redwood Park in the Oakland Hills, wandering along the Embarcadero in SF, and exploring new restaurants in Berkeley. We are avid travelers with some of our favorite adventures being hiking the alps in Germany, crawling through the pyramids in Egypt, and taking a hot air balloon trip over the fairy chimneys in Turkey.
While we love the pace and the culture of the Bay Area, Squaw Valley is our oasis outside of the city. We love being able to share our little bit of paradise with you. We enjoy getting the day started with a pastry and coffee from Tahoe House Bakery, biking from the cottage down the Truckee River, Sunday Brunch at Sunnyside Restaurant on Lake Tahoe, and going to Little Truckee Ice Creamery on Donner Lake.
We hope that you enjoy your stay!
Hans & Karen
