Got scammed in Cannes
It is unfortunate that I have to leave a review for a property I never actually stayed in, but I feel it is important to share my experience for the benefit of others.•I made a reservation and paid the full amount several months in advance for a convention in Cannes.•On the day of check-in, the property manager contacted me via WhatsApp and asked that we communicate outside the official Vrbo platform.•He informed me that my reservation was being “upgraded” and sent me a new address, different from the one provided in my original Vrbo confirmation.•Despite having booked and paid for an extra night specifically to allow for a morning check-in, he attempted to charge an additional fee for early check-in.•The new apartment was not an upgrade. It was significantly farther from the convention center — one of the main reasons I had selected the original property.•The original listing advertised air conditioning; the substitute apartment did not have any.•When I confronted the property manager about these discrepancies, he was dishonest and dismissive.•I later heard from several others that this kind of bait-and-switch tactic is not uncommon with this host.Be cautious when booking this property. My experience suggests a pattern of misleading practices and poor transparency.
