The Bluecoat Cottage was perfect for our stay. Peaceful and quiet after several day of touring Gettysburg and Shrine in Emmittsburg. I loved the patio and porch, the sound of the birds and the farmers sheep down the street. accommodations were excellent and provided everything that we needed.
Of the many places to choose from in this area, we were lucky to have selected the Blue Coat Cottage. The location outside of town was lovely and relaxing, yet close to every place we wanted to visit. The property was very clean, and the hosts had provided thoughtful Touches that made the home very welcoming. Highly recommend!
Immaculate home with every detail covered with all the comforts of home.
We were in town to visit family and will book again.
I loved the soft water shower and laundry. Close to everything and yet secluded.

It was our first time visiting gettysburg. We loved staying in this beautiful cottage. It makes you feel at home and so do the owners. We loved our stay and plan to come back in the future. I would 100% recommend to anyone!
This was the cutest cottage! It was close enough to all the sights and amenities of Gettysburg while at the same time feeling like you were miles away from civilization. It was the perfect quiet retreat and it truly felt like home. We had a wonderful time.
We had a wonderful time at the cottage. It was close enough to drive around gettysburg, but a quiet and homey place to end the night. Lee Ann had everything you could need stocked up! Would def recommend!
Property was cozy and clean. Lee Ann thought of everything including extra fans upstairs, extension cords for phone chargers, and motion sensor lights in the bathroom at night. We really enjoyed it and would love to come back. Felt like we were far away, but could be in downtown Gettysburg in 5 minutes.
It is situated between beautiful farmland yet so close to downtown Gettysburg! The house had everything we would have needed to stay in and cook or read or play games! It was unusually warm when we were there but we still fired up the chiminea! It
Staying at the Blue Coat Cottage was wonderful. The check in process was easy. The cottage was so clean. Everything you could need the owners had there for you. I would recommend staying at the Blue Coat Cottage. You will not regret it. Thank you again to our hosts! We had a wonderful time.
It was nice to have all the space available. My whole family was not crowded into one room. We had enough space for all of us to have time alone as needed. We stayed over Thanksgiving and it was so nice to have dinner in a home not a restaurant
Our family of four had a great stay at Blue Coat Cottage. The property is easily accessible to downtown Gettysburg as well as Liberty Mountain (10 to 15 minute drive to each). The setting is peaceful with farms surrounding the property, and the owners put a lot of effort into making the house homey and comfortable. I loved the stocked coffee cart! It was great to have easy access to laundry facilities and a well appointed kitchen.
Definitely recommend to a family considering renting a house rather than staying in a hotel for a Gettysburg trip.
The unit is very comfortable and an easy few minutes away from Gettysburg proper. The creek across the road is peaceful. Beautiful land all around. The house was just fine for a family of 4 traveling for spring break.
My family stayed for one night so we didn't have to drive back to DC late after snow tubing at Liberty Mountain. We were able to get great sleep in a quiet and peaceful area.

My husband and I have been married 28 years and have two grown daughters. We are history lovers, college football fans and spend a good deal of time in the fall following my alma mater, UCF, around the country to cheer on the Knights. We love kayaking, hiking and camping.
Why they chose this property
We purchased this home in July of 2020 and converted it into the Blue Coat Cottage. We are huge history buffs so purchasing a home in Gettysburg was a dream come true. It's especially fun to share our love of this area with others through the cottage.
What makes this property unique
The cottage sits directly across from Marsh Creek. This is the very waterway that General Robert E. Lee retreated over July 4, 1863 in a driving rain. It's a beautiful, serene area rich in history.
