Host profile image
Together Amylyn and Jonas love to bring people together in a creative and nurturing way. Their home has always been a hub for monthly fires, community gatherings and potlucks. They envision growing Shilo Farm into a place where friends, family and strangers alike can gather and share in yoga, music, food, and meaningful conversation. In 2018 the Community Barn was built and became an official business through the town of Eliot; offering a retreat for yoga and health & wellness workshops. Our vision is always growing and we hope you can come and visit and be a part of our creative process!

Why they chose this property

We are a micro farm/homestead that cultivates medicinal plants, herbs and food following permaculture principles of land management. Elderberries are our specialty. We have a small, but growing herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats. We raise organic and free range heritage breed chickens for their eggs and have three rescue cats and a 125 pound Livestock Guardian dog called Shasta. Our property consists of 9 acres of woodland/fields and edible gardens landscapes. We are located in Eliot Maine and are a mere four miles from Historic Portsmouth, NH. Come and pay us a visit!

What makes this property unique

Our vision began in 2012 when we accepted that we weren’t able to have children. Once we came to accept this reality, we started to listen to other ways we could create and birth something bigger than ourselves. We started to listen deeply with all of our senses, to what this private 9 acre parcel, 4 miles from historic Portsmouth, NH desired to become.

For many years we offered monthly community fires, potlucks and seasonal celebrations from our personal home and are now offering daily health centric community classes and workshops for conscious living in our Community Barn, which became a bona fide business in 2018. We also offer a unique lodging experience in the original Barn for travelers (through Air BnB and VRBO). We are most inspired when we witness connections being made, visions being birthed and opportunities created. And thus, a community center was born that would be the fertile ground for gathering community and sharing in all our amazing gifts.
