A true hidden gem; Little Gasparilla Island is a bridge less, tropical barrier island just off the West Coast of Florida located midway between Tampa and Naples not far from the cities of Boca Grande and Englewood Florida. Unspoiled by seawalls and high rises, it has no roads and no car traffic, just white sand paths for exploring. Here you’ll find 7 miles of pristine white sandy beaches, fantastic fishing opportunities, an abundance of sea shells and prehistoric shark’s teeth to gather, dramatic sunsets and balmy tropical breezes.

You must take a water taxi to reach the house. There are no cars on the island but a car is recommended if you want to explore the mainland and visit local shops, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. Your vehicle can be left at Eldred's Marina where the water taxi departs from daily for the island. Parking fee is $10 per day at Eldred's. Water taxi price is currently $25 per person each way during daylight hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Water taxi is available outside of these hours with reservation but prices vary.

About the host

Born and raised in Central Florida, we've been married for 26 years. We have two beautiful daughters and a house full of animals. Soon after being married we bought a fishing boat and took the first opportunity to get near the water and moved to Southwest Florida. We have lived in Cape Coral since and love the Salt Water Life! Brandy is a successful realtor and Clint is the General Manager for Bradford Airport Logistics at the Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.

Why they chose this property

Brandy visited Little Gasparilla Island as a kid, and instantly fell in love. When Clint and Brandy met, she couldn't wait to introduce Clint to the Island and its rustic charm! Fast forward 30 years it has become their families favorite place and has always been a dream to "One Day" own a home and maybe retire there. Enter 2020! What a crazy year?! Definitely put a lot of things into perspective and had them wondering why they hadn't' bought a house on the island yet? What the heck were they actually waiting for!?! The rest is history!! Life is short!! Eat the cake! Buy the island homes! ;)

What makes this property unique

Captain & The Mermaids' goal is to make you feel like you have arrived at your own home on the island. From the various amenities to the special decorative touches, its is our goal to make you feel at home. One unique thing about this property is that you have your own private dock to relax, sunbath or drop a line. Only a handful of homes on the island who rent have their own private dock. We are excited to share it with you and look forward to hearing all of the wonderful memories that you made. We know you are going to love it!
