We had a wonderful week - would highly recommend Swans Island for a quiet getaway. The kayaking was wonderful. Great location - great view and close to the ferry.

So glad all went well and to your liking. Thank you for positive review and I hope you also enjoyed the amazing sunsets over the ocean from “The Porch” on Swan’s Is. I look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Judy Boone
We had a lovely week in this beautiful and inviting cottage. We loved the island, and the relaxing porch at sunset was a real joy. Everything was exactly as described, I'd love to return someday!
My husband and two kids stayed at the house. The house is beautiful, quaint and charming. It is definitely a place for piece and quiet. There was only one TV and it didn't work, but there was wifi. The scenery and the sunsets were absolutely gorgeous. It was a perfect week of relaxation and unwinding. If you leave the island the ferry can become pricey but the surrounding towns were fun and beautiful as well.
We had it all- a perfect porch and lovely house for our family, beautiful sunsets, warm days at the beach, cool foggy mornings exploring the island. We will return!
We picked the Island for its beauty, and Judy's house to enjoy sunsets, sunrises, and a wonderfully peaceful place to have our first vacation in two years. The house is special, and, we had everything plus more than we needed at our disposal. The porches provide vistas that we will never forget, bikes to ride, and kyacks to use at low tide.
Judy's beautiful cottage overseeing the Atlantic ocean makes up look forward to the sunset each night. The cottage is recently renovated and she put in a lot of thought for guests to make the rooms, appliances, supplies, toiletries, readily available. The close proximity to the ferry is a plus when you have to leave the island. We visited most of the destinations from Fine Sand Beach, East Point, Quarry Pond, Lighthouse and ventured off to buy lobsters a the co-op. Definitely recommend the co-op to see the operations of the lobstermans bringing in their catch. We spent a day at Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. I definitely recommend her cottage to future trippers who want to escape!
The Porch was so beautiful and relaxing! The house was amazing! We did not want to leave! Every detail was thought out and Judy was so helpful in answering all our questions and very knowledgeable of the area! It was a trip to remember! Memories were made!
We loved this house. It was perfect in everyway. Our stay on Swan's Island was truly a joy and our family will never forget this once in a lifetime trip to experience a small island off the beautiful Maine Coast.

About the host

I have been coming to Swan’s Island for over 40 years for Summer vacations to stay in my husband’s family home next door. As a realtor, real estate investor, and home designer I often imagined how I would restore this charming Island cottage. I was fortunate to be able to buy it when it came up for sale. It was beyond a fixer upper but it’s character and charm inspired me to save and enhance it. It was challenging to undertake such a project while living in Maryland and most people thought I should just tear it down. It had no indoor plumbing, a wood stove for heat, a dilapidated porch, and a collapsing foundation! As an interior designer I could only see it as it is now not as it was then and it was a joy for me to make it happen. With the help of many talented local artisans my vision became reality. While I have renovated several other homes this one has a special place in my heart. I knew when my husband passed away he would be interned here and his house would be handed down to others in his family. Having this cottage allows me to continue to visit and enjoy the island that we both love. Between our 5 children, 10 grand children, and 2 great grands hopefully there are many more Swan’s Island memories to come... I enjoy sharing this home with others as long as they treat it with the respect they want for their own home. From the amazing sunsets, to picnics at fine sand beach, from hiking, sailing, kayaking, and biking, to just watching the sunset or listening for the loons it is all good. The sights, sounds, scents and serenity of this island let us slow down just a little to let Mother Nature restore us and to sooth our soul...
