SANDY TUNDRA is a luxurious 3 bedroom waterfront townhouse with Safety Harbor Club access and the use of a private boat slip (additional fees do apply). Located just steps away (or a short golf cart ride) from the emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico on Upper Captiva Island, Sandy Tundra is centrally located close by the tennis courts, club pool, and private wharf. Located on Escondido Lane, meaning "Hidden Lane", Sandy Tundra has some of the best Harbor views on North Captiva Island! With sleeping up to 6 people (one master king suite, one queen room with a twin, and a unique 3 twin bedroom), Sandy Tundra can host your next family vacation. This island townhouse is reminiscent of a luxury beach townhouse in the Caribbean, without the need for a passport.

NORTH CAPTIVA ISLAND is a private island accessible only by boat or private aircraft. North Captiva is known for uncrowded, natural white sand beaches with incredible shelling and wildlife viewing. Two thirds of North Captiva is a state wildlife preserve, while one-third is lightly developed with vacation homes.

RESORT-LIKE AMENITIES! Sandy Tundra has Safety Harbor Club privileges with access to the safety harbor club pool, a private beach access, tennis courts, and the wharf. You may park your own boat or rental boat at the wharf for an additional daily fee. Slips are limited on the island, but you will have priority access to use the slip. The townhouse comes with a four passenger club car, electric golf cart to use and explore around the island. Safety Harbor renters have priority seating at Safety Harbor's own restaurant, "Over the Waterfront". Sandy Tundra has its own kayak, beach chairs, floats, and outdoor gas grill. The property has high speed WIFI included to support zoom meetings and other streaming activities such as remote learning.

AN ADVENTURE AWAITS! Our property managers, Sean & Ally of Shally's Seashells Property Management LLC will assist selecting ferry boat options to North Captiva. You will be greeted upon your arrival by Sean & Ally and they will transport you and your luggage and groceries to Sandy Tundra (unless you requested the kitchen be pre-stocked--highly recommended!). They will give you a private tour of the island and help familiarize you with the amenities and intricacies in the house and will be a phone call or text away during your stay.

We had an outstanding stay on North Captiva and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The home was exactly as described—clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing trip. The setting was peaceful and beautiful, truly capturing everything that makes North Captiva special.Communication with the host was excellent from start to finish. Any questions we had were answered quickly, and the check-in process was smooth and stress-free. It was clear the hosts genuinely care about their guests and the quality of their property.We loved the quiet island atmosphere, easy access to the beach, and the chance to truly unplug and enjoy nature. This was one of those trips where you immediately feel at ease and start making great memories. The only thing I would fix, would be the squeaking golf cart. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a perfect North Captiva getaway.

Fun spring break

Very comfortable house with well-stocked kitchen. Super responsive and friendly owner. Amazing golf cart and fun sandy roads. Nice view of the harbor. Proximity to two restaurants. Great beach.

This is a lovely property that’s perfect for small family. It’s clean and convenient to everything on the island. The owner communicates very well and the property manager works hard to ensure the property is ready for you & your visitors. Great time had by all!

Perfect condo & location

Mike was extremely gracious and easy to work with. From initial booking details, to checking-in during the trip, it was a 10/10 experience. The condo has everything you need with an easy walk or cart ride to one of the many beaches (we like heading down Escondido). We can't wait to return.

Sandy Tundra was fabulous.

We’ve stayed on the island too many times to count, but this was our first time at Safety Harbor. The views and breeze on our screened were awesome. The home is very cozy, clean, well furnished and nicely renovated. Tile flooring and wooden steps makes everything fresh and clean. The kitchen has everything you’ll need to prepare your meals and the appliances work well and are clean! We sat in front or our unit and enjoyed our barbecue lunch while looking at the boats and water. Wonderful stay!

North Captiva is the place to go!

We had a wonderful week-long stay and appreciate the beautiful home and area. It is wonderful to see everything getting back to normal and Sandy Tundra was in top shape! We fished every day with our charter captain, caught snook, red fish, snapper, even a shark! The water and the Islands are absolutely beautiful and clear and the foliage is coming back for sure! Thanks to Ally for all her help. Service was impeccable and she made sure we had everything we needed! We will be back!

This may be the best rental unit we have EVER stayed in, and we’ve traveled quite extensively and stayed in dozens and dozens of places. You can tell the owners have put so much thought and attention into their home to assure you have a wonderfully comfortable stay. We couldn’t think of anything that was missing! We worked remotely while we were there without any issues, there is a desk, WiFi, monitor, and even a printer! The kitchen is completely stocked for truly cooking, not just eating. The amenities make travel so easy, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, bandaids, plenty of towels, a generous starter kit of consumables, etc. There are beach chairs, towels, toys, etc. to maximize your fun. I cannot overstate how comfortable and relaxing this home is! The owners are excellent communicators and super easy to work with. We are planning our next trip as I write this - and we’ll be staying HERE!! You will thank yourself for booking your NCI stay here - guarantee it!!

Island Dreams

Sandy Tundra was such a gem for our family’s trip to North Captiva. What a great value find on the island. My husband and I slept great in the comfy king bed and had plenty of space while our 3 kids had the entire upstairs as their “apartment”. The home was clean and stocked with what we needed. I prepared 3 meals a day in the kitchen, and found what I needed to feed my family of 5. This was our third trip to the island. It was my first experience with the property management company, Shallys. They were responsive and helpful. We had them deliver groceries, and it was super convenient. Our order was accurate and everything was ice cold (even ice cream!) when we arrived at the condo. My favorite part was the shell washing station right outside the door. This island is unique and a pleasure to explore. The home has beautiful hibiscus plants all in bloom that add to the island effect. We loved sitting on the screened porch and watching boats come in/sunrises. The home is quiet and neighborhood is peaceful. Everything was in working order. I hope to return very soon. The manatees and dolphins all checked in to see us on the trip. It was very special for Midwest folks like us. Thank you for a dreamy island vacation, Sandy Tundra!

A rare, perfect trip!

We communicated with Mike and his caretakers prior to, and throughout, our stay. All of the information that we needed for planning was provided ahead of time and Mike was more than generous in his responses to questions. The townhome was the perfect setup for myself, my wife, and our two children (13 & 11). We highly suggest you heed their recommendations...take the Island Girl Ferry and have their Property Managers, Shally Seashells, deliver and stock your groceries..it is well worth the additional fee. The ferry dropped us off less than 200' from the front door and Tori from Shally's picked up our luggage and brought it right to each room. Within 20 minutes of arrival we were unpacked, food was put away, and we were off on the provided golf cart to explore the island. The location really couldn't have been better. We walked over and fished off of the pier each morning and evening (caught Mangro Snapper, Pompano, Grouper, and a large puffer fish), watched beautiful sunrises right from the screened porch, a short walk/cart ride to the tennis courts and heated community pool, few minute walk to the nearest beach, and we grabbed dinner one night right at Over the Water restaurant just steps from the house (byob). The house was extremely clean, well stocked, and we wanted for nothing. We were fortunate enough to cross paths with Mikes wife, Sarah, on our way out and she was a delight. Perfect Sunrise View

We had a great time at this townhouse. This home is equipped with everything you need so pack light. The sunrise each morning right out the front was incredible. The owners Mike & Sarah were great to work with and stayed in touch during our stay to be sure everything was going well. The couple of small issues that we did have, the property management, Shally's Seashells, took care of things promptly. We loved our 1st trip to NCI and plan to return again.

Beautiful!!!

The Sandy Tundra was perfect for our family of 4. It had everything we needed to make our trip really enjoyable from beach chairs, beach toys to pickle ball paddles. (We played every day!) We watched the sun rise from the balcony and then drove a few short minutes to the BEAUTIFUL beach and would spend the rest of the day there. The island is awesome. We loved seeing all of the different animals from the birds to the gopher tortoises! The property owners (Mike and Sarah) and management team (Sean and Ally) were all very helpful in making sure we enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our trip, and can't wait to return! Thank you so much for sharing Sandy Tundra with us!!

Relaxing

The property was clean and gave us the room to spread out - much more than hotels. We loved using the kayak and golf cart to get everywhere. We also loved how easy it was to walk everywhere. The beach chairs were great to have. The kitchen had many spices and lots of glasses - made it easy to make drinks and dinner. We had a great week.

Special Day & Special Week

We stayed at Sandy Tundra for a week in January with our three children - one teen and two adults - as we were getting married on the beach. The home is lovely, the property managers are sweet and helpful, and the owners are incredibly attentive. Oh, and the island...the island is incredible. I highly recommend the entire experience.

Our stay at safety harbor was amazing. Starting with the “boats and fun” boat taxi to the island which was seamless. Shally property management and property owner (mike) were dependable responsive and proactively followed up to make sure are vacation was perfect. The property/location enabled seeing the sunrise every morning from our front porch, close to all restaurants, had all the amenities needed for beach/cooking. We saw turtles, bald eagles, osprey’s and manatees. Loved having the cart which made accessing everything easy . We definitely will be back.

Wonderful

We stayed at Sandy Tundra the week after Christmas on a last minute change of plans. A quick phone call to Mike (who was fantastic) had us sold on how wonderful the island is and how easy this whole process would be. He was correct! Shally’s Seashells met us at the dock and handled everything from island transport to grocery shopping to last minute seafood and drink orders. We used Boats & Fun to get there and they were great. The rental was perfectly equipped for our family of 5. All needs were considered from water bottles to beach chairs to towels to laundry detergent. The golf cart was our favorite and accommodations very comfortable. There was plenty of space for sleeping and a smaller gathering area inside. The screened in porch was perfect and seating area outside great for spreading out. Small things like good WI-FI, responsive management and good drinking water made a difference. This unit is located in the Safety Harbor Club and convenient to everything. We enjoyed abundant fishing off the dock, short rides to see manatees, dolphins, and gorgeous beaches. We loved Barnacle’s and also having dinner on NYE at Over the Water. Thank you to all those involved for making this our best vacation as a family.

Relaxing Getaway

This property was lovely and exactly what my husband and I needed for a quiet trip away from the hustle of everyday life. Duncan met us at arrival, showed us around, and was available our whole stay. Loved the grocery service and beach access. Highly recommend!

A Great Place to Stay

We had a great time visiting North Captiva and staying at the Sandy Tundra! The property was clean and well stocked. I enjoyed every morning on the screened-in balcony with my coffee. The new washer/dryer was a dream and the towels smelled delightful! My only tip for new visitors is: buy extra groceries! I planned for the amount my family would normally eat and my boys ate so much more! Definitely have the groceries delivered as well. Sean and Ally were super communicative, welcoming and overall amazing property managers! Thanks for a peace of paradise!

Unbelievable island and property

Cant say enough about this island and property. We have visited a lot of places and this is our families favorite. Duncan (property manager) from the beginning to end was amazing in showing us the properties highlights and also brought us around the island. Place is perfect and will be be back!

A week in paradise

This was such a unique experience and really a great way to get away from it all. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed. The beaches were amazing. The owners of the property were available to answer any question we had so we could relax and enjoy our week. Tortuga properties were very helpful with getting our groceries delivered when we ran into an issue with pick up. The house has everything you need for a great stay. Just pack a swimsuit and you're all set.
