My family and our 2 dogs loved it on Forbidden Plateau! The cabin and property were exactly what we were looking for. Quiet and private but close enough to one of our favourite places to visit- Courtenay-Comox.
The kitchen was exceptionally well-equipped, with thoughtful touches that any professional chef would appreciate. The wood fireplace kept the house warm and cozy, and the view was fantastic.
Beautiful, remote location, with easy access to mid-island towns, the gulf islands and other interests. Take in Elk Falls, Nymph falls, Seal Bay Nature Park... The home was very clean and provided everything we needed.
We loved staying here. It's a beautiful home and property and exactly what we were hoping for. We enjoyed mornings and evenings on the patio and were able to easily explore the mountains, rivers and waterfalls.
Special shoutout for a very well stoked kitchen with everything we needed.
The perfect place to relax after enjoying the area's outdoor activities.
We came to mountain bike the Cumberland area trails. Forbidden plateau provided close access to the trails while still being remote and secluded feeling. We enjoyed coming back to the property at the end of a full day of riding to enjoy the view from the deck, cook a meal in the beautiful kitchen or bbq and then relax in the hot tub.
These hosts offer a diamond in the rough! A fantastic rustic cabin with every amenity. The fire driven hot tub was heavenly! The location is convenient yet private and a short jaunt to all of the sites. Just fantastic!
Had a lovely 3 night stay here. Very private and comfortable house with everything you need. Stunning view over the valley and ocean. Our dog loved exploring the yard and nearby woods. Fun hot tub experience too!
We stayed in January, during a snowfall. The cabin was the coziest remote stay. We kept warm and toasty with a well-tended fire and enjoyed whipping up nourishing soups and stews in the well appointed kitchen. It is so apparent that this is a home crafted with conviction, care, and expertise. I would absolutely encourage anyone looking for an escape in nature to not pass it over.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The wood fired hot tub was awesome. Amazing sunrises. Very peaceful. Our dogs loved it. Huge patio. Great kitchen. Easy access to Nymph Falls, my favourite place. Great management. Huge walk in shower, room enough for 2.
This place is something total different to other stays. Hidden in the woods with a awesome view. Totally what we wanted. Everything worked out perfect. Nothing to complain!
While this place was more out of the way (aka up a mountain) than I expected, that actually ended up being perfect. It was peaceful, had a great view, and was such a lovely property and cabin. We would absolutely come back here. It seems like they are continuing to work on/expand the property and I can’t wait to see what else they do!

Great location and comfortable but overpriced with poor host communication
We truly enjoyed our stay at Forbidden Plateau but do not feel like the cost and fees were appropriate. We were greatly disappointed with the lack of communication from the host. We messaged them four times over two days (via VRBO and the phone number provided) before they vaguely responded to us, and did not answer or address our inquires. We traveled with a 2 year old and expected the crib that was in the posting picture to be available. There was no crib to be found on site, and we never received a response about this. This was stressful as there are lofts and stairs in every room. Thankfully we had packed a blow up mattress, just in case, and were able to move furniture to block the stairs. The kitchen has an excellent selection of spices and cookware, but no other helpful cooking necessities, so definitely stock up on bases.
The house, view, porch, hot tub, property, and surrounding areas were all incredible and we loved hiking from the house. The beds were soft and comfortable and we truly felt relaxed after our stay. We unfortunately would not stay here again as the total cost of this stay was almost triple our other stays in Comox Valley and had a third of the amenities, supplies, quality of items, and convenience.
Beautiful spot and very close to many hikes. We hiked around and swam in Comox Lake. The hottub was amazing as well. Well stocked kitchen with herbs and spices was great for us as we love to cook.
If you are looking for a get-a-way this is a wonderful little cabin to come to. My husband and 4 year old daughter had a lovely long weekend and came back to our life nice and relaxed!

This cabin is exactly what we’ve been looking for in a weekend get away. The location is great with an amazing view and if your ok with comfortable off the grid living this is the place for you.
This spot is a cozy little getaway tucked in the forest, there aren't any neighbours and the only lights you can see are the town of
Comox down by the water. The cabin is well set up so you can nearly forget that you're off-grid, it was quite cold outside (-10deg C) when we were there so it did take some careful fire-minding to keep the temperture comfortable. This also made using the hot tub a bit of work but it was lovely to sit in the warm water surrounded by the deep snow.
