About this property
Silver Mountain Cabins #2 (sleeps 9)
Welcome to Silver Mountain Cabins – Your Cozy Escape in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula
Create lasting memories at this one-of-a-kind, family-friendly retreat nestled in the heart of the Ottawa National Forest
and the scenic Keweenaw Peninsula. Whether you're here for adventure or serenity, our location offers unmatched access to outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, rockhounding, and premier hunting. We’re just 28 miles from Michigan Tech University, 10 miles from Lake Superior, and only minutes away from local favorites like Silver Mountain and Sturgeon River Falls.
Your Private Cabin in the Forest
This warm and inviting cabin is your private sanctuary during your stay. Designed with comfort and function in mind, the cabin sleeps up to 9 guests with:
- One bathroom
- A main-floor bedroom with one queen and one twin bed
- A second main-floor bedroom with two twin beds
- A spacious loft with one queen and two twin beds
All mattresses and bedding have been recently upgraded
for a restful night’s sleep. Please note: the dining area seats six, and the living room comfortably seats three. Just outside your back door, you’ll enjoy a private fire pit—perfect for evening relaxation under the stars.
Stay Connected While You Unplug
While cell service is limited due to our remote location, we’ve equipped each cabin with fiber-optic internet, complete with a private router and unique login details—perfect for remote work, video calls, and streaming. Inside the cabin, you'll also find two Roku TVs, a thoughtfully curated selection of books and board games, and all the comforts you need for a cozy stay.
Explore the Property & Beyond
Set on 22 acres, this cabin is part of a larger homestead with two other guest cabins and a private residence. You’re welcome to explore the expansive grounds and shared amenities, including:
- A grill and picnic area
- A peaceful orchard and seasonal garden
- Access to trails and open space that extend into the Ottawa National Forest
Nature lovers will appreciate the tranquil surroundings and spectacular night skies—some of the clearest star views in the region. Do keep in mind that we are truly immersed in nature, so occasional encounters with mosquitoes, flies, and even ladybugs are part of the experience. We regularly treat the cabins and offer additional bug spray or mid-stay service if needed to ensure your comfort.
We also have a small flock of chickens on the property and love to share farm-fresh eggs with our guests when available. If you’d like to meet the chickens or receive a dozen eggs, just let us know—we’re happy to make it a fun part of your stay!
House Rules
No smoking or vaping within the cabin or within 20 feet of any cabin.
Up to two dogs are allowed, with advance notice and with the payment of a $75/visit pet fee. Dogs must be cleaned up after and guests are responsible for any damage that their dogs may cause. Service animals are welcome, but may not be left unattended at any time.
Trail Rider's Dream Basecamp
We are located directly on Silver Mountain Road (Forest Service Road 2270), providing immediate access to UTV/ATV trails and nearby connections to Snowmobile Trail #12 and #109. Ride straight from the driveway into miles of designated trail systems—ideal for outdoor enthusiasts year-round.
📍 View our location and trail connections for ATV and UTV trails on the Trail Riders' Basecamp page
Hospitality on Your Terms
We respect your privacy and offer as much—or as little—interaction as you prefer. If you’d like to chat by the central fire pit, join us in the garden, or take part in a hosted bonfire night with desserts, just let us know. We live nearby and are always happy to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
