Hi Shirley. Thanks so much for the 5 star review and your comments. Unfortunately, with back to back rentals there's a narrow window when routine maintenance can be accomplished, but we still work it in. Thanks again for renting from us! We'd love to have you again!

This was a perfect place for our group of friends who knew each other for 50 years. We could cook, go out to eat, enjoy walks, read, and have hours-long talks. We loved looking at all Penny’s collections—they were quite amazing! We only had two sunny days in our week, but the house was perfect for enjoying any kind of weather. Very spacious and homey. The beautiful piano was a bonus! (One note of caution: Before arriving I thought this place might work for my family get-together in the fall, but with my niece’s three rambunctious boys (10,7,4) I would be really nervous about potential damage or destruction of multiple precious objects! The description welcomes children, but I’d say that it might not be the best for kids who run around and are wild.)
It is a perfect place for a family gathering, chess table, pool table, hot tub and the outdoor pool with a fantastic view! There is a round table for a family discussion too.
This was a fabulous rental. The location is perfect, the house is incredibly beautiful and the pool and view are perfect!! It’s the most well stocked kitchen I’ve ever seen in a rental and it’s extremely clean and well kept. Cannot wait to come back!!

Jesse. Thank you so much for your 5 star review and being such conscientious guests. We greatly appreciate your positive remarks, and your good care of the property during your visit. We look forward to having you back again!!
Spent Labor Day weekend at this fantastic property and we were all impressed. No complaints, all positive. The beautiful property is a short distance from numerous towns to explore, and it’s adorned with a lifetime of memories and amazing collections of items along with descriptions and backgrounds.
The view from any location in the house is amazing, and the grounds immaculate - perfect for a family relaxing vacation.
Simply the best, and we would stay again in a heartbeat. Above the top!
We really appreciate your 5 star rating and making another reservation to return to this property. More updates are being made prior to your next arrival. The owners are constantly improving the property. Thank you very much for your positive review.

Such a great place for family get together. Large public spaces and 3 distinct sleeping locations with 5 bedrooms make it fantastic for a large group. Huge screened porch overlooking the pool (super clean), and Tred Avon River.
Easy walk to the Bellevue-Oxford Ferry, Dockside Boat Rentals will deliver a boat, kayaks, and paddle boards to be awaiting your arrival. And Oxford Charters will pick you up at the dock for a fishing charter.
This is our second year and another all around success.

We rented the house for the weekend to celebrate my mom’s 90th birthday! The house was amazing. Such a beautiful property. The pool was lovely and the view is spectacular. We were able to spend a peaceful weekend together, hanging out at the pool, looking at old photos and telling stories about my mom. The house is beautiful and it was like staying in a museum. So fascinating. The kitchen was well stocked, the porch is wonderful, and the rooms gave us enough space to spread out.
Thank you for sharing you lovely house with us.
Fantastic stay for a family get together - Plenty of beds, and though the master suite is an open space with impacted privacy, it is big and it does have its own balcony, which is nice. The home is very well-kept and maintained, the owner and the property manager are both very responsive and helpful. The absolute best part of this house is the outdoor space including an expansive screened in porch, a wonderful pool, lovely Jacuzzi, fire pit, pier, all on a large grassy peninsula on the Chesapeake. The neighborhood was a great area to walk around in, with a nearby ferry to Oxford. A short 15 minute drive to charming Saint Michaels, was also a lovely perk. We enjoyed our stay very much, and this home is certainly in our starred list for return visits :-)

This house is beautifully located on a point of land looking out at the Miles River. There are large windows everywhere looking out onto fabulous views. The house is large and has an open kitchen, dining and living space plus another living space and a delightful, huge porch. We were 6 adults and 4 children from 1 1/2 to 8 years old. There are lots of valuable decorations so care needs to be taken not to disturb these items.
We needed more towels but a neighbor managed to help find them. The kitchen and pantry are very well equipped with all manner of pots, pans and all things for cooking.
This is a wonderful house with a fabulous setting.

We were pleasantly surprised that the house is the end of the small road with several private acres. The layout offered main floor bed/bath for my parents, 2nd floor 3b/3b for my brother and his teens, and an attached garage apartment for my husband and I. The pool was fun and well kept. The dock was protected and allowed us to rent a boat and the guys to fish. The kitchen had everything a gourmet chef could imagine. Our main difficulty was that there was no easy place/way to launch kayaks or paddleboards. That said, it was a very enjoyable trip.
The house is wonderful. We had 3 kids under 5 and 6 adults and it fit us perfectly. However, the the kids kept us on our toes due to all the breakable objects in the house. No accidents though. We spent the whole time by the pool, on our rental boat or fishing off the pier. The house was fully stocked and we didn’t need much of anything. All of the decoys, george Washington memorabilia and carousel equipment had us investigating and searching for the first few days. The screened in porch was great for night time. We enjoyed doing puzzles and playing board games at night and we were able to easily make it out to st Michael’s for dinner or order in door dash from Easton. We will likely come back again.
We stayed here for a family vacation. My husband my parents (late 70s) and our 2 adult boys (20 & 22) The house is gorgeous plenty of space and our boys liked having their own space in the apartment over the garage. The views are incredible. Very nice dock for fishing and or crabbing. The housekeeper and owner were very responsive and kind when we had questions. The house and grounds are very clean and well kept. I think every day we found another new treasure as we explored the owner's amazing collections she has throughout the house. The pool was very nice as well. One of our favorite spots to hangout as a family was the screened in porch. The property is just doen the road from the ferry and it is situated not too far from Easton and St Michaels. Definitely recommend and we will hopefully be back again!

Suzette, we really appreciate your very kind review and 5 star rating. Yes, the screened in porch is a great place to gather to take in the sweeping views, and also to observe children in the pool. I hope you took advantage of the ferry and rode over to Oxford and had homemade ice cream. We will look forward to your return! Enjoy the remainder of your summer!

Great Adult Vacation
The décor in the house is not kid friendly. The house is right on the water so bringing a boat was very easy and convenient. We did catch crabs and striper right off the dock. The ferry to Oxford is in walkable distance but not a lot to do there. I recommend driving to St. Michaels, it is not far and there are plenty of shops and eateries. The views from the house were amazing. Some issues we had were a lot of the outlets in the house and on the patio did not work. The master bedroom only has 3 walls so if you are in the kitchen you can look up and see someone on the balcony in the master bedroom. Fyi the dimmer switch for the dining room light is not round like the others, it is located on the kitchen wall and it is on the side of a regular flip switch. It took us awhile to find it. Overall we had a wonderful vacation but not sure if we would rent this house again.

Response from VrboOwner on 26 Mar, 2020
We are confused by this traveler's comments since she mentions that they had a wonderful vacation. Possibly one of the best water views in Talbot County, the owner is meticulous about attending to her guests' needs. She has taken care of the outlets and, yes, she has some collectibles that might be reached by a toddler, but not a problem with older children. This guest said she will be retracting this review due to its ambiguous content.
P.S. Oxford is a lovely town with a New England feel. You can take your car, or bike on the ferry (5 min. away) and bike ride to tennis courts, great restaurants, and just explore this beautiful town that is surrounded by water. VERY quaint.
Bonate’ is a treasure nestled between St. Michaels and Oxford on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Three generations of our family spent a long Labor Day weekend there, after 18 months apart. We could not have found a better spot, with everything from a private pool (complete with an inflatable alligator, whose name is “Pete,” according to the youngest family member) to landscaping (with redwood and walnut trees) to a variety of birds (with guidebooks and binoculars at hand) – all framed by spectacular views across the water from sunrise to sunrise.
We were welcomed by a kind note from the owner, alerting us to a few idiosyncrasies that were not surprising in a home which is a treasure – for example, one shower control is mislabeled even though carrying the brand of a major manufacturer. The welcome was continued when we were met at the home by the local agent. On our first walk-around, we discovered that the previous day’s storms (accompanying two F2 tornadoes) had damaged furniture around the pool and broken several tree limbs. Fortunately, there was no damage to the home. The agent immediately began cleaning the pool herself. Shortly after, we left for lunch and grocery shopping. When we returned a few hours later, we found that everything had been repaired. The local agent was equally quick to respond to questions about the house and to offer recommendations for shopping, dining, or just being lazy.
The home itself is an architectural masterpiece. Each of the four bedrooms has a television and a full bath (one with shower/tub, two with showers, and the master with shower and tub); each has a private, screened balcony; each has large windows, with everything being larger in the master. There are other details (a games room, with television and pool table; a sitting area with round dining table; and a fully equipped kitchen with its own TV); but no description can adequately describe the details that make the house a treasure. The house is filled with collections from lifetimes of travel, from large (hand-painted animals from merry-go-rounds) to small (figures of cats guard every room), with duck decoys in abundance. More personal collections include one honoring George Washington which surrounds the main staircase, and a pair of framed, first pages from the New York Times reporting the sinking of the Titanic. And always, creaking wood-plank floors served as a reminder that the house is a home with living memories.

Walter, my goodness, your review is just wonderful. I thank you so much for such an eloquent description of the property and your five star rating. The details you have provided for other travelers is greatly appreciated. The storm before your arrival was unfortunate, but we are grateful it didn't happen during your stay. Thank you so much for your understanding during the process of tidying up the mess. Your recognition of the owner's treasured collections is quite meaningful as she has displayed them for the enjoyment of her guests. Thank you very much for your taking the time to write such a complimentary review and for being such conscientious guests. We hope to welcome you again at Bonate'.

Thank you very much for your kind review. It is generally true of our area that pools do not open until Memorial weekend, but we opened early. Unfortunately, the climate here is not warm enough this early in the season for the water to be warm. We are sorry you were disappointed.

NOT OK. DEFINITELY NOT OK.
I am a loyal fan of VRBO, but this property is misrepresented. The setting is gorgeous but the poor house and amenities are in serious disrepair. There is NO MASTER BEDROOM, as it opens directly onto & above the kitchen (no wall) and is a loft-style. Zero privacy, not even a door to the bathroom. The hot tub cover is shredded, split in half and dribbling plastic pieces into the water. The pool filter broke on Day One and we were assured it would be repaired or provided with something temporary, never happened. The frame of the house is suffering from wood rot, which has caused screening in the advertised screened porches to fall out, made sliding doors difficult to open & close. There are rips, cracks and outdated items throughout the home. And, the owner has personal belongings and collections seriously cluttering the property so that there is barely a place to put your toothbrush. One shouldn't have to pay this much money to live amidst a myriad of fragile objects, personal effects and duct tape covering holes. This was a tense (and expensive) stay; tried to implore the Realtor to acknowledge this and provide some sort of financial restitution, but was denied. Glad that others enjoyed their stay, but BEWARE and AVOID until advertising, condition and pricing are realistic, in my opinion.

Our repeat visitors do not agree with you. It is evident by the other reviews both before and after your stay, that your description is not accurate and mean spirited. The photos give an accurate representation, and are up to date. To say that this property is in disrepair is just not true at all, and your description is a gross exaggeration.
We just spent last week at Bonate’ and absolutely loved it! It was the perfect place for our annual Sorority Sister Reunion. There were 10 of us young at heart but old enough to know better women. This home has 4 bedrooms plus an attached apartment that very comfortably slept the 10 of us. An awesome bonus is that each bedroom has its own bathroom so getting ready was never a problem and taking showers at the same time wasn’t an issue either. There was hot water enough for everyone. The weather was brutally hot but we barely noticed it at the house. The pool was sparkling clean and cool, the screened porch has 2 big fans and lots of lovely furniture, we spent the majority of our days in the pool or on the porch. There is water on 3 sides of the property so there was a nice breeze that would come through every day. The home itself is beautiful and it has a large variety of different collectibles throughout so it was so fun discovering new things every day. She has 8 original carousel animals throughout the large house that are just magical! A huge menagerie of Duck, Geese and Loon decoys, plus many other collections. We absolutely loved our vacation here, the kitchen has everything you need, the bathrooms, the comfortable beds, the porch, the kayaks, the fantastic pool, the water views, just everything. The location was ideal also, the Oxford Ferry was right at the end of the street, about a 1 minute drive. Easton or St Michael’s are a 15 minute drive. We all had dinner at The Robert Morris Inn one night and it was delightful and delicious. Everyone agreed that we can highly recommend staying at this property. It’s the perfect place for a group like ours. Thank you Penny and Kathy for this lovely property we were lucky enough to experience!❤️
