Just check out our photos for visuals of all of this!
We are not a hotel but true to the vacation rental experience, which is we want to share our special location with you. We strive to keep our cleaning fees low, and we are generally 1/2 our competition on cleaning fees, but we expect you'll help us keep up with everything as you go as well. Some folks are looking for hotel standard everything or an vacation rental just like they stayed at in some big city. Thats not us ... we are catering to those of you who want seclusion, your own piece of heaven and of course the BEST views in Blowing Rock. We are 5 secluded acres in the woods ... our reviews feature guests who enjoy that experience and the occasional guest who doesn't get it and worries they may run into bugs & spiders outside, gets worried about a drive on a mountain gravel road, or didn't get it when we said we are "off the beat path". We are off the beaten path, come in enjoy the experience, know what we are about on the way in .... and thats why you booked us. We also do allow some pets under 50 pounds that you discuss with us prior to booking. We do not provide any food of any type, including coffee, especially during COVID. Thanks for looking at our cabin!
From the unmatched, far-reaching views along the Blue Ridge Parkway, to the quaint storybook mountain village, Blowing Rock, North Carolina is truly deserving of the title: "Crown of the Blue Ridge." Here you'll find popular family attractions including Tweetsie Railroad and The Blowing Rock, a plethora of unique downtown shops and outlets, and outdoor adventure ranging from hiking and biking to spelunking and bouldering. It's a venue for adventure, but also a place for ultimate relaxation. Indulge in a spa treatment, sample scrumptious vittles at our award-winning restaurants, or enjoy the hospitality at our local inns, bed and breakfasts, resorts, cabins or hotels.
Other things to note : Please read our house rules . You must agree to these rules within 48 hours of booking via an online electronic “I Agree” statement back to us that you agree that your stay is bound by these house rules. We do this in leu of a written contract, we are happy to provide a written copy upon request.
PETS: Are only welcome if we discuss them in advance of booking your trip for our approval. We only allow Dogs. We need to know their BREED, WEIGHT (we allow typically under 50 pounds of total pet weight, but ask us if larger), AGE (No puppies) and the PET COUNT (generally we allow 1, but if they are very small maybe two). We have a per PET FEE between $10/night and $35/night depending how big the pet is. We require agreement to use a PET CRATE if you ever leave them in the house. Pets are not allowed on or in beds or on furniture. We don't allow any pets when the cabin is at maximum human person count.
Guest count - When you book with us we will ask you your guest count, this is then used for COVID-19 awareness and cleaning planning. You can not change or add guests without notifying us for approval. We reserve the right to not approve an increasing guest count prior to the trip, and we reserve the right to stop your trip if your guest count increases without asking our permission first. We hope you understand, but we do not just turn our cabin over, we require communication prior to guests being added regardless of the cabin’s potential for more guests.
After 4 guests we reserve the right to add a second cleaner for an additional $100. We try to keep our prices low when the guest count is low, after the first four guests we charge $35 per night per guest extra on all stays.
The Cabin is in the Mountains. The approach to the cabin means that you are comfortable driving a road in the woods, including driving up and down small gravel roads. Snow & ice are conditions you may find December 1 through March 31st we provide a shovel and a limited amount of rock salt at the cabin. Are you prepared for Snow and Ice for you, all guests, and your car is a question you must ask yourself when visiting us during the winter. We can’t forecast the weather, nor can we make it stop if it starts :-). Hence you need to be certain you can take care of yourselves and car (snowchains, or AWD, or 4x4 are the best options). In the event of a winter storm during your stay we will instruct you on where your vehicles will be placed for your safety, this may involve a short walk from that location to the cabin door . In general snow fall is light and usually melts the next day. Most of the gravel road is county maintained and thus cleared, however the last .5 miles up to the cabins is in a private neighborhood where snow removal is a group, best can do, best effort basis. That said we drive our Jeep 4x4 through all snow in and out of the same roads all the time, and we are used to snow. The winter months are wonderful months in Blowing Rock, great for a fire, some out door hiking, tubing, skiing and hot tubing, pls be vigilante on the weather as its usually in a forecast, and you can put yourselves and your cars in the right places for total success.
We are providing you a License to use our Cabin similar to that of renting a car, as a licensee you are bound to the cabin rules at all times, and you forgo the rights of a "lease" or "tenant". Violations of our cabin rules can result in your immediate removal from our cabin, by renting our cabin you agree to these terms. If you'd like a full copy of the license please let us know in advance and one will be provided to you.
WIFI - Its Satellite based. That means it has a delay and is not ideal for 2 way communication such ZOOM. Second it means that during a storm the weather can cloud out the connection and your WiFi may degrade. Most guests have found it great, streaming is possible if the weather is good, and we’ve had guests work and play in our cabin with out issue, but we do point this out as there are no buried cables or fiber on our remote properties.
Fireplace - Cabin is equipped with a gas fireplace, with an automatic timer panel to control the fireplace. We’re here for support on fireplace use as needed.

We loved our stay! Great communication with the host. Loved the privacy and view but it comes with a drive that is fun and steep, like all mountain drives! Will definitely be returning.
The property was exceptionally clean, with amazing views and beautiful furniture. We liked how close the property was to various hiking destinations, and enjoyed seeing the small town of Blowing Rock. A visit to the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum was very enjoyable. Open communications with the owner and property manager was a plus. Would definitely recommend staying at this location.
Amazing views! Private and quiet. A big cabin with plenty of space. The bedrooms and beds are comfortable. Very clean. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to make meals. A very nice fireplace. The hot tub is huge, clean and was amazing. Everything is as pictured and great communication with the host. It is a neat area to explore. I am glad we stayed two nights!
Host met us and was welcoming and helpful. House was so comfortable for my family. 4x4 is 100% necessary for this stay and we enjoyed the feeling of being so secluded.

Thanks for coming to our cabin! We get cars of all types easily to this cabin in Spring Summer and Fall, As mentioned in winter months due to snow and ice we require a 4x4 or AWD vehicle. But only in those months.
Everything was in great shape. However, the toilet in the master bedroom kept running periodically which to me, indicates it needs a new "stopper"....FYI
We loved our stay! The house was great, the view was beautiful, and everything felt private while still being close to town. Would definitely stay again!

Thanks for coming! You are welcome back to any of our properties anytime!
Absolutely flawless cabin nestled in the mountains, the place was impeccably clean and had everything you could ever need. We loved the large wraparound porch to watch sunsets in the evening and the jacuzzi for unwinding! We are already planning to return. Wonderful experience!
We knew the views would be incredible but it was a wonderful surprise to find the home in such clean and organized state. The details were thoughtful and made for a restful getaway with friends and their baby.
What a view! The house was clean, amenities were great, and the location was spectacular. Very secluded house with an awesome hot tub, great bed and plenty of space.
Matt & staff were absolutely amazing! They went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The house was also great. The views were spectacular and house was super clean and cozy. Will definitely stay here again.
The booking and check in process was seamless, there was great communication between owner and us. The house was perfectly located and was very secluded which we loved. The inner decor was quaint and appropriate for this house. The beds were comfortable and the house was spacious. We loved the views and enjoyed grilling on the deck. We used the hot tub which was really nice after a long day of walking. I would highly recommend this unique round home.
A cozy spot in the mountains with great views. Perfect getaway spot for a couple. Great restaurants nearby in Blowing Rock.

About the host
Hosted by Matt Powell
We've been coming to the mountains for 25 years and slowly gathered up a set of family homes. During the pandemic we made it full time and "came to the mountains" and have not looked back. We are active fitness junkies, love the vacation rental experience we provide, like to meet our guests and enjoy their stories, and we enjoy the mountains as well as sailing at different locations around the world. Our accommodations are highly rated and we are experienced SuperHosts on other platforms, trying VRBO out for the first time.
Why they chose this property
The Big Round Cabin is one of a kind, its views and sunsets simply can not be beaten! If you want secluded and be the last house before the wilderness, this is us! Come enjoy all our modern amenities such as our hot tub, take a hike on the parkway just minutes away, go dining and shopping in Blowing Rock or just sit on our deck and enjoy the views.
