THE PROPERTY
Discover an idyllic New Orleans hideaway where historic character meets relaxed, inviting style. Built in the 1860s, this charming cottage studio is located in the Marigny Bywater, a bohemian enclave just blocks from the French Quarter and the lovely Mississippi River Crescent Park. From the adjoining cottage garden you can hear the distant steamboat whistles and foghorns—the unique sounds of New Orleans.

The intimate bijou (approximately 500 sq ft) shotgun-style studio is accessed through the adjoining garden and feels cozy yet airy with elevated 11-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, cooling ceiling fans, and abundant natural light. Elegant French doors open directly to the garden, while classic French windows enhance the bright, architectural charm of the space and invite in soft natural light.

Inside, the studio features 1 bedroom with a queen-size bed and 1 bath with a step-in clawfoot tub and shower—ideal for unwinding after a day in the city. The kitchen includes multiple coffee-making options (French press, pour over, single serve, moka pot), and is fully stocked with food amenities, and a washer and dryer inside the unit. Central AC and heat controlled remotely by guest. This peaceful setting offers reliable high-speed internet and a Roku TV with Netflix, Hulu, Max HBO, and more making it ideal for both relaxation and remote work.

You’re walking distance to the French Quarter, Frenchmen Street, and the Crescent Park/Mississippi River, as well as an exceptional dining scene that includes local dining favorites such as N7, Paladar 511, and Evviva, Michelin-recognized restaurants, and James Beard Award winning bars. Just steps away are Who Dat Café or Hotel Peter & Paul’s Elysian Bar (restaurant housed in a former cathedral from the 1860s) for brunch. Nearby are art studios, galleries, outdoor markets, museums, cultural centers including Studio Be and the Marigny Opera House, Crescent Park and the Mandeville Street Wharf, plus easy access to food markets including Robert’s Market, and the neighborhood food co-op.

With direct access to a southern garden space and an unbeatable downtown location, this cottage studio offers a rare blend of walkability and understated historic charm —an ideal base for experiencing New Orleans in a relaxed, authentic way.
