Fantastic stay! We loved Casa Sunbreak-- the home is lovely and the art inside is fantastic. Pool is perfect on a hot day, its easy to walk to plenty of amenities and the hosts were friendly and helpful. 10/10 recommend!
Casa Sunbreak is a secure and quiet home for a visit to La Paz. It’s just beautiful! Allison is welcoming and readily available to answer questions. The house is spotless and comfortable and walkable to the beachfront. There are some convenient shops and restaurants very close to the house as well. Highly recommend!

Thank you Yvonne! It was a pleasure to have you at Casa Sunbreak!
Allison was the most thoughtful and attentive host -- was always there to support us in every way possible: from dining and massage therapist recommendations, to home maintenance, to arrival and departure. She has created an artistic treasure box that we had the privilige to live in for the better part of a week. Every ammenity that we could have hoped for was just waiting for us. We greatly look forward to visiting Casa Sunbreak ASAP.

Thanks so much Edith. It was great to meet you and your family. We’d love to see you back at casa sunbreak anytime!
Casa Sunbreak is a gem, beautifully curated with every manner of delightful prints, art, fabrics, pottery and furnishings. Allison is a gracious, attentive and fun hostess that we wished we could have spent more time with. The location is perfect, just a short taxi or Uber from the restaurants and beaches along the Malecon, but in a quiet residential neighborhood. We only had two, action packed days there so never got to use the little pool (the weather was really too cold anyway), or to cook a meal in the really functional kitchen. We were sorry to leave and happy to give five stars in all respects.

We were so pleased with this house, we had wonderful host, location is great, quiet place. We got everything we needed. Communication was wonderful. We couldn't ask for a better place. We will stay there again next time
Allison is a fantastic host and the place was exactly as listed. The place was clean and had just about all needed for our stay. We stayed for 6 nights and the location worked well for us as it was close to the Malecon and a great location for our day trips out to other parts of the Baja.

The location was perfect, a short drive to the malecon or easy walk, plenty of restaurants, authentic home and decorating with a welcoming host. Definitely recommend for those wanting the opposite of an “all-inclusive” experience.
We had an amazing time at Casa Sunbreak. We were comfortable and very safe. The food is amazing, especially at the restaurant next door. Allison has excellent suggestions for things to do in the area. We had a wonderful time!!

Very comfortable house with well equipped kitchen, secure parking spot in the courtyard behind the gate and easy communication with the host. Allison went out of her way to make sure we had a good stay. The house is spacious and the lovely patio/courtyard was perfect to have an evening drink. Would stay again for sure!

We had a great stay here! The neighborhood is very safe and friendly. There are numerous stores and restaurants around so you can get what you need or want easily. The walk to the Mallecon is also very pleasant.
The house itself is gorgeous inside and has been well maintained. Everything was very clean and the kitchen well stocked:)

Thanks John! It was great to have you at casa Sunbreak! Hope we see you back here soon!
The place has great charm, amenities and is very well-cared for, and Allison was a responsive, informative and kind host who went above and beyond on a number of fronts! We loved La Paz and hope to visit again soon! Casa Sunbreak was great for kids; ours particularly enjoyed the plunge pool and appreciated the sand toys, and we appreciated Allison's recommendation of a fantastic sitter who enabled us to get away for date night!
We had a wonderful week-lomg stay at Casa Sunbreak. Even before our stay, Alison was super helpful with recommendations for tours and things to do as a family. The house is exceptionally clean and we loved having a courtyard and secure parking. Really can't go wrong staying here. :)

Casa Sunbreak was a perfect stay for us. Charming home with high ceiling beams and authentic touches. The host team is super attentive and helpful. Loved all the Baja literature. We'll check here first next time we are coming to La Paz.

You'll enjoy a cozy example of classic Mexican architecture and furnishings at Casa Sunbreak. There are very nice pieces of art and other decor representing artists of the local area, and the history of greater Baja as well. The mini library is full of informative guides, classic literature, and other interesting reading material. For those that might spend some time at your home away from home, it's most enjoyable in this regard - and don't forget about the zippy wifi either! We made ourselves at home since the kitchen, dining room and laundry area are all fully functional, clean and easy to use. The pool was great on the hottest day we were there, a luxurious amenity.Located in Zona Central, it's a straight walk down Marquez de Leon to the boardwalk on the bay (known as the Malecon). Once there, you'll have plenty of options to spend your days. Restaurants, boat tours, bike rentals, or head up to one of the nearby beaches. Take a detour up Independencia street to some of the art shops and bookstores. Excellent local art prints and small sculptures are all over, many created by locals. If you don't see something you're looking for, ask the proprietors, they are friendly and an excellent resource.Allison lives next door and is there to help with anything you need. If you're from the U.S., so is she so you have a new friend in La Paz from day one.

Thank you so much and I’m so glad you love La Paz as much as I do! Thanks for choosing casa sunbreak! It was a pleasure to host you guys.
It’s rare that I say this property truly exceeded our families expectations. It is a beautiful setup, well furnished and surrounded by activities and amazing eats. The communication was very easy, quick and transparent. It really felt like staying with friends, and I cannot recommend this property enough.Alison made sure to furnish the property with items for our one year old which made things so much easier. Additionally there is everything you need for the beach in house. We also found 4 amazing restaurants within walking distance of the house, some even a few houses away. Book it, you really won’t regret it.

Thanks Derrick! I’m so glad your trip was fun and comfortable.
Great stay at CasaSunbreak. Everything you need is there: purified water in good supply; a big bag of coffee; excellent a/c; thick, large towels; dish soap; books. Lovely art work throughout the house. Neighborhood has easy access to DiDi (local Uber equivalent). Allison lives on site and is helpful with any questions. Also had good recommendations for transportation from SJD and a local rental car company. A fantastic time diving in La Paz.

Thanks Anita! It was great to meet you and share casa Sunbreak! I’m glad you had a wonderful diving experience. The sea of Cortez is amazing!
Such a great property. Super clean, and perfectly prepared with everything we needed (including a citrus juicer ;) )!! The walk to the malecón was delightful and safe. So much to see and do while there. We made a trip to the beach most days and enjoyed La Paz restaurants and sights in the evenings. The house was in a fantastic location and Allison was the best. Great communication and nearby if we needed anything (we didn’t). The whole trip was A+++.

This casita is absolutely adorable. Every little detail has been considered. I would live in it in a heartbeat. We enjoyed spending three days in La Paz. It worked well for day trips to the nearby beaches and towns and we appreciated all of Allison's recommendations. We also really loved just walking around the neighbourhoods and had the BEST empanadas at the municipal market. Highly recommend!
The house is very atmospheric with an authentic Baja feel. The outside area is a little peaceful oasis but the property is in a great area with shops, restaurants etc and a fairly easy walk to the Malacon. We loved the little details like actual chef quality sharp knives in the kitchen, a really good stove top and nice art on the walls.Beds were super comfy and the host, Alison, was super welcoming and very responsive. The off street parking and automatic gate were very convenient. All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday for us.

About the host
Hosted by Allison
Casa Sunbreak owner, Allison Porter, grew up in Delaware and received a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from the university of Vermont in 1984. After a few years of teaching, Allison took a year off and ended up on a NOLS trip kayaking and backpacking Baja California Sur. On that trip she met her future husband and fell in love with the Sea of Cortez and especially La Paz. She spent the majority of her 15 years in BCS living on a sailboat, exploring the Sea of Cortez and raising her 3 kids. In 2004 Allison and her family started Sunbreak Educations, a non-profit that brought school supplies to the small fishing villages in the Sea of Cortez. After returning to the US in 2011 and helping to care for her mother with dementia, Allison was able to return to La Paz for good in 2018. She began the journey to open Casa Sunbreak upon her return and she is so excited to be able to share a slice of La Paz with you.
