Quiet mountains between Silver City & Pinos Altos. Kitchen/living room/bedroom
Ideal for guests that hike and explore by day & enjoy quiet mountain nights. Hikers, bikers and birders in particular love our property. The Casita is one mile down a dirt road between Silver City & Pinos Altos, and is nestled one mile from Gila Nat'l Forest. The casita kitchen allows you to prepare your own meals. The location allows you to enjoy Downtown Silver City restaurants & galleries 15 minutes away, or the iconic Buckhorn Saloon & Opera House just up the road in Pinos Altos. We're on-site, life long locals, and welcome those who enjoy the rugged beauty of SW New Mexico.
The space Our 650 square foot casita has been a labor of love that we've been honored to share with friends and family, and are pleased to now share on VRBO. 1-3 adults can fit comfortably, with a living/dining area, kitchen with all the amenities, 1 full bathroom, 1 bedroom w/ queen size bed+ a twin size bed in the nook off of the kitchen. There is a mini-split ac/heat unit in the both the living room and bedroom. Please see pictures for more details. We love living in forest terrain, but just 10 minutes from the intersection of Hwy 15 and 32nd Street Bypass. The nearest public access to the Gila National Forest is one mile away. Our daytime skies are some of the bluest, and our nightime skies are some of the darkest. The casita has its own dedicated WiFi for your personal devices, as well as the smart TV in bedroom (no cable, satellite, or antenna). The kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, two gas burners, microwave, air fryer, coffee maker + all the amenities you'll need to prepare simple meals. The bedroom is accessed through the bathroom. There is a solid, heavy door separating the living area and bathroom, and a light-weight, accordian style door separating the bathroom and bedroom. This lighter door affords visual privacy but is not soundproof. Please review the pictures and consider your comfort levels with this set-up as you plan. Our water comes from our well. We are thankful for the good water pressure our well provides, and request that our guests are sustainably minded in regards to shower lengths and running water. The family German Shepherd joins us on the property as we tend the chickens and go on walks, and may run up to introduce itself to you if given the opportunity. Out of consideation for those with pet allergies, we do not allow pets in the casita. Guest access You will have full access to the casita and parking outside.

This cozy little retreat in the hills above Silver City couldn't be more idyllic for rest and relaxation between times exploring all the joy that the city offers.
This charming little casita had everything we needed for our weekend away. The decor was warm and inviting with nice southwestern touches throughout. Communication with the hosts was very helpful and responses where quick.
The casita was just what we needed for our visit to Gila National Forest. The owner, Rebekah, met us upon arrival. The casita was quiet, clean and had everythinf we needed...including fresh hen eggs. The bed was super comfortable too. We would definitely stay here again!
Review of the Air B&B between Silver City and Pinos Altos
The property is very nice, giving us the opportunity to be in touch with nature with all the comforts of home--television; Wi-Fi; kitchen appliances; utensils and pots and pans, etc.
The property owners/managers are very kind and accommodating.
My husband and I recommend this property very highly.
Stargazer's Paradise in the Mountains Above Silver City, NM
I had a wonderful 3-night stay this comfortable casita in the mountains north of Silver City, NM. The house was clean and had ample amenities including bathroom and kitchen. The best feature was the dark skies and the suitability to stargaze without interference from bright city lights.
This is a beautiful little escape away surrounded by a gorgeous landscape. Clean and well maintained and fully stocked to make a very comfortable stay. The host went above and beyond to make our stay the best. I would and will return with my family. Can’t recommend this place enough.
Had good and prompt communication. Casita was very comfortable and so quiet at night. Got in late and hadn't had dinner yet, a very pleasant surprise was fresh eggs from her hens.
Bed was comfortable. Kitchen was fully stocked with all necessary utensils and pans, also plenty of spice selections.
I highly recommend this place, not exceeding far from downtown. I do reccomend getting there in day lite, no street lights.
Overall, a very pleasant experience.

Thanks Eric for your kind review. We love to share our eggs, as long as the hens are cooperating!!
The location of the property was amazing--it was close to Silver City but away from the traffic, so it was quiet and peaceful. Rebekah was an amazing host, very responsive, and helpful with suggestions about things to do. The fresh eggs were a real treat as well!
The property was very clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable. Temperatures were perfect since it cools off so much at night. It's close to lots of great hikes, and in between Silver City and Pinos Altos where there are cool bars and restaurants.
My only issue with the property is the bathroom adjacent to the bedroom. There is an accordian door that is noisy and hard to close. The door was noted in the description, however, so that's our fault. My husband and I are both light sleepers, so that was a problem for us.
This place is amazing. The hosts, including a friendly German Shepherd and a laid back cat, were kind and made us feel at home. Cool walks in the open air and a glass of wine under the stars topped off our wonderful experience!

About the host

My husband and I are proud to be Silver City natives. We've wondered the world a little, but after several years we came to understand that there's no place like home.
Why they chose this property
We love our home nestled close to the Gila National Forest . Our guest casita has been a labor of love that we have shared with family and friends, and welcome those who cherish the peace and quiet found only down a long dirt road.
