About this property

Stonemont Farm Cottage with Hot Tub! in Keswick near Vineyards

Newly renovated cottage in beautiful Keswick, Virginia nestled into the hillside of a historic 170-acre farm that was originally part of a land grant belonging to the father of the famed explorer Meriwether Lewis. This 3 bed/2 bath cottage provides an idyllic country retreat for your next Charlottesville getaway. In the heart of the Southwest mountain range, yet only 25 minutes from downtown Charlottesville, Stonemont Cottage is perfect for enjoying a relaxing weekend while being a short drive to nearby vineyards and cideries including Castle Hill Cider and Keswick Vineyards.

The front door of the cottage welcomes you into a sitting room with a beautiful bay window and pull-out sofa bed. This upper level also features 2 bedrooms with Queen sized beds, a full bath, dining room, laundry, full kitchen, and access to a large balcony with views of the pond. The stairs off the kitchen will take you to the lower level that has a second large living room, designated work space, third Queen bedroom, full bath, pull-out sleeper sofa, second laundry, and second kitchen! Walk out the back door to enjoy exclusive access to the fishing pond, hot tub, grill, fire pit, and lawn space. Each space has been thoughtfully designed to provide comfort and relaxation.

Ideally located within 13 miles of downtown Charlottesville, the University of Virginia, Keswick Hall, Gordonsville, Montpelier, and Monticello, this home is a perfect home base for a wedding weekend or getaway with family and friends. The back roads are a favorite for cyclists, and the Southwest Mountains' nearby hiking trails are renowned among birdwatchers.
The split arrangement of the cottage into an upper living space and downstairs suite, each with its own separate access but connected by stairs, makes it ideally suited for a family or group who wants to enjoy time together while having additional privacy.
Surrounded by trees and hillside, guests at the Cottage will enjoy privacy. Guests are also now welcome to explore the new hiking trail around the property which offers scenic views and a peaceful connection with nature. Stonemont Farm Cabin is just around the bend. Larger groups can reserve both the Cottage and Cabin for an adjacent getaway (14 guests total). Please inquire for details on reserving both the Cottage and Cabin listed together under Stonemont Farm Retreat.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming cottage in Keswick over Labor Day weekend. The outdoor space was perfect for relaxing — we loved dining at the table outside and spending evenings around the fire pit. The location was also ideal for exploring the area; we enjoyed visiting Monticello and Carter Mountain Orchard during our trip. A peaceful, comfortable getaway that made our holiday weekend truly special!

Highest recommendation! Privately nestled in the Keswick hills, this serene cottage (with beautiful pond views) embodies rustic charm, comfort and quiet relaxation. It's thoughtfully decorated and furnished for ultimate enjoyment, with the inclusion of a hot tub, fire pit, outdoor dining & bbq, rocking chairs on the deck, and Adirondack chairs by the pond. Upon entering the cottage, we immediately felt at home. It's cozy, but spacious and has very comfortable furniture & bedding. It's immaculately clean and well-appointed with extra towels and full kitchenware & appliances. As well, check-in & out was easy, as was the clear and timely communication with the management. We definitely hope to stay here when visiting Charlottesville in the future.

Thank you so much! We put a great deal of care into every detail of the cottage, so hearing it all came together into a genuine home-away-from-home is the best reward. We hope Charlottesville keeps calling you back, and when it does, we'd love to have you again!

It was a great property. Loved the nice surroundings and decor. There were some long black hairs on the bedding in one bedroom upstairs and the headboard on the downstairs bedroom creaked loudly with the slightest movement. Please tighten or WD 40 it. Otherwise a really lovely property and would stay again.

Great little getaway!!

This place was such an amazing respite for my nature loving family! Everything was clean and cozy, the pond was GREAT for family fishing and we were close enough to attractions like orchards, Shenandoah National Park and family in Charlottesville. Will definitely be back - hopefully when it’s not 99 degrees!!

Great cottage

It was a cozy cottage stay with plenty of room for two couples. Having the second kitchen and fridge downstairs was a bonus. Sadly, it was too cold to take advantage of the outdoor areas but it would be a great place in warmer weather to grill and sit around the fire.

Wonderful stay!

We chose to visit the Charlottesville area for spring break. The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed for our stay. Every room in the house was comfortable and nicely decorated. It was a short drive to Monticello, downtown, and the wineries. The pond was a bonus…my kids were pumped when they caught a few fish. Thank you for sharing your home.

Perfect Wedding Getaway

We loved everything about our stay at this beautiful cottage for my nephew's wedding at Castle Hill Cider that is just down the road. It was in the perfect location, wonderfully decorated, well appointed, and even had an amazing amount of storage for the wedding cake and cupcakes that I had made for the big event. The views were stellar, the hosts were very communicative, and I can't wait to return. Choose this place to stay every time!

Clean! Great spacious house. Laundry, clean towels and sheets, shampoo/soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, coffee filters all supplied. Important to note that the house is on top of a mountain down a steep single lane dirt road. Definitely take the 4 wheel drive and would be hairy in the winter. Cell service is nonexistent but WiFi makes communication possible. Nearest stores are 15mins away so highly recommend a grocery run before arrival. Great getaway spot.

Great place, a lot of nature. One suggestion would be that f you are to promote the catch and release pond, either advise to bring your own fishing equipment or perhaps provide a pole or two.

Graduation get-away

We traveled for graduation at Liberty University, and this place was great for our late arrival time. It cut the driving down, and then we drove to graduation the following morning. The space was surprisingly more spacious than we expected. The pond was terrific, and we enjoyed time at the cottage as a family.

Hi Deborah, The influx of stink bugs in the Blue Ridge area has been significant in recent years and despite our best efforts, sometimes manage to sneak indoors especially when temps begin to drop. Unfortunately, this natural occurrence is something that all property owners in the area are having to deal with - especially in the rural areas (their preferred habitat). We do make a strong effort to rid of any and all bugs as best we can prior to arrival. We hope that future guests will enjoy the peaceful retreat the Cottage offers in its picturesque, natural setting. Best, Guesthouses

Perfection

My husband, our 2 dogs, 4 friends, and myself recently had the pleasure of staying at this VRBO in Charlottesville, VA, for a wedding at Castle Hill Cidery. We loved the views from the back porch, with sounds of birds and a deer sighting. The interior was clean, beautifully decorated, and equipped with modern amenities. The location was perfect, just a short drive away from downtown Charlottesville and the area's renowned wineries and cideries. The hosts were incredibly accommodating and friendly (my husband ran into them when he went for a 6 mile run out the back door and down the gravel road). I can't wait to return to this charming retreat, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a tranquil escape.

The perfect getaway!

We came up for a wedding and on our way up the host for the VRBO we had reserved (a month and a half ahead of time) canceled on us! I was in panic mode on the phone with VRBO customer service and immediately started looking for another house. We came across this listing and I messaged the host, she responded right away and worked with the VRBO people to get us In. They went above and beyond to help us out on such short notice! I recommend this cottage to everyone it is the cutest little cottage with beautiful scenery!

Cute cottage

The cottage was very cute. It definitely could have been cleaner, as there were waxy lip prints on the bedroom window and a few dark smudges on the walls of the bedroom and bathroom. Also, it wasn’t made clear in the description that most of the one-lane, curvy road leading to the property was dirt/gravel. If it had been raining, it would have been pretty treacherous in a small car. My SUV handled it fine, but it did get very dirty. Overall, the property was quiet, comfortable and fairly well maintained. It served our purpose well.

Hi, Anna. Thank you so much for your feedback! We're glad to hear that the property was quiet, comfortable, and met your needs overall. We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered—please know that we take these things seriously and we’ll be sure to address this with the team. We also appreciate your note about the road. We did mention in our listing in the other notable items about the gravel road but we’ll make sure to assess on how to make it more clear to better set expectations for future guests. We hope to welcome you back again soon!

Loved, Loved, Loved it!

So charming, the pictures don’t do it justice. The location is ideal for exploring Charlottesville. You feel tucked away in the mountains while you’re only 5-20 minute from vineyards, trails, museums and restaurants. We’ll most definitely be back. A few friendly notes: 1) take your own fishing gear. It’s so fun, we caught a ton of little fish! 2) the downstairs is cold. Take extra heavy clothes to wear and slippers. It has a stone floor in the basement. 3) There aren’t night lights, if you have kids, pack your own. Definitely recommend!

A wonderful get away

Stonemont Cottage is adorable and fit what we needed for our stay. The upper deck looking over the valley and pond was the absolute best! We traveled with our 15 year old who loved walking her dog down the lane and watching fireflies and deer. Spent 1 evening watching 3 deer in the pond, yes in it, eating and swimming. Small issue with Netflix not working after the 1st day, not a big deal since we only tried to watch one other night for a movie. Needed hand soap in the bathroom dispenser. Otherwise everything was there you would need. If you drink coffee be sure to bring some regular barrel filters. The area is gorgeous. Checked out Keswick Vineyards which was lovely. Visited St Isidore the Farmer Church for weekly mass, then a day at Monticello, and a drive to Skyline Drive. We would recommend them all if the schedule allows. Hope to be back some day!
