Wonderful time spent at this house. Owners are very quick with communication and house was perfect for our groups. If you are here to drive the twisted sisters, this house provides a low car welcoming driveway and a 2 car garage. I’ve done with trip with a large group the last 6 years and this house is the best house I’ve stayed at yet. Not sure it can be topped as the pool was amazing, tons of beds and great overall experience. Stay here and rest assured your in great hands!

Perfect for large familly group.

The bedrooms all had multiple beds except the master. Except 2 bedrooms that were adjacent, all were spread out for privacy & quiet. Grandkids loved the pool & hot tub.

Thank you for the review, Candelario. Pickel House is one of the newer homes in the Country Club, yet without neighbors on either side of the house, and the golf course a decent distance behind it, it has a sense of privacy that most Country Club homes don't have. We appreciate you and your family staying with us, and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Frio River Vacation Rentals TheFrioRiver com

Response from VrboOwner on 14 Nov, 2025
Thank you for your review! We’re glad the home was roomy and perfect for your annual friends’ trip and sports viewing. We appreciate your feedback about the remotes and the water—what you noticed is a natural sulfur smell from the well water, which is common in the area. We’ll continue to monitor it to ensure the best experience for our guests. We’d love to welcome you back for next year’s trip!

Gilbert Family Vacation

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The whole experience was a great from booking our trip to checkout the last day. We had all of our children and grandchildren with us for a total of 17. Each family had their own room to sleep their families as they wished. We could have had another 15 people with us. It was so roomy! The house was a beautiful hill country ranch design and decorated impeccably. Our grandkids loved the pool and hot tub, quite honestly we spent more time there than at the river. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals, as well as the grill, smoker and fire pit for s’mores! Plenty of outdoor games provided as well. I can’t say enough about our wonderful time, other than we have already booked for 2026!

Great Rental

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was a nice house and very clean. Our friends and family loved it. It was a great space to relax and enjoy our vacation. The only thing is that when we checked in the woman was a little rude. I do understand that the rules are important but I didn’t appreciate the way the woman spoke to us, as if we were children. That’s my only complaint.
Response from VrboOwner on 3 Jul, 2026
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re so glad to hear that you found the home clean, comfortable, and a great space for you and your friends and family to relax and enjoy your vacation. That said, we are very sorry to hear about your check-in experience. That is never our intent, and we never want any guest to feel spoken to in a way that comes across as rude or condescending. We do appreciate your understanding of the importance of house rules, but we also want every guest to feel welcomed and respected from the very beginning of their stay. Your feedback is taken seriously, and we will address this internally to ensure a more positive and welcoming check-in experience moving forward. We truly appreciate you staying with us and hope we’ll have the opportunity to host you again in the future for a much smoother experience from start to finish.

We loved staying at the property for our reunion. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy each other’s company but not be on top of one another. Beautiful view and the deer were so close the kiddos loved watching them. The only real issue we had was the pool surface. It seems to be a rough surface and all the kiddos had cuts and scrapes on the toes. We put socks on them and it seemed to solve the issue. We had no plans to go to the river so we didn’t bring water shoes but the socks worked.
