About the host
Hosted by Kurt Feick
Your hosts Kurt Feick and Linda Ridgeway are originally from the East and the West Coasts. Linda grew up in Newport Beach California and is a retired American Airlines employee who worked in customer service for 34 years. Mr. Feick is founder and CEO of Beagle Tools which manufactures wheelbarrows mainly for the European market. He has an art collection that includes abstract expressionists, rare photography and ancient artifacts.
Why they chose this property
When Kurt Feick reached out to Bart Culbertson to design a special event center in New Braunfels, Texas, Bart brought a way of doing things that he had learned from the mid-century masters of architecture. As one of the few contractors trusted by Philip Johnson, Bart previously had renovated the 5 structures at the famous "Glass House" in New Canaan, CT. Mr. Feick, a childhood friend of the architect, was living in one of the modern masterpieces by Harvard 5 architect Eliot Noyes. In short, Mr. Feick knew what he wanted and most definitely knew what he didn't. Sitting side-by-side throughout the entire Covid epidemic, Mr. Culbertson designed what has come to be called "West River House".
The house is an homage to a famous covered bridge over the West River in West Dummerston, Vermont. The bridge structure has a 25-foot-high interior gable which spans a large gallery serving as the dining area for large events. Beyond the historic feel of the gable, with its authentic aged barnwood and decorated with antiques sprinkled around the wings, the house transitions to a mid-century modern structure with floor to ceiling glass as you cross to the south side of the house facing the lake.
Breathtaking balconies overlook Lake Dunlop providing a treehouse sensation where you can watch birds of prey, herons and our resident cardinals. We hope you enjoy the views, both inside and out--night and day.

What makes this property unique
The house can actually be split between the left and right side. There are two kitchens that can be separated by pocket doors as well as two laundries. The house is also cabled with 4 televisions. All of the kitchen amenities are designed with professional chefs in mind who can cater major events at West River Housse with ease.
