About this property
Pinelodge Cottage -waterfront cottage -Acadia National Park/Mount Desert Island
Pinelodge Cottage is a waterfront cottage with two bedrooms, living room/dining area, fully equipped kitchen and bath with shower. There is a queen size bed in one bedroom and two twins in the other.
Step through the sliding glass doors in the living room on to a large deck with comfortable seating and a spectacular view of Blue Hill Bay.
Our home and cottages are located on seven acres of land and 500 feet of bold granite and stone beach shoreline with a southwesterly exposure on Blue Hill Bay in the coastal village of West Tremont. Our location is exceptionally private, decidedly un-commercial, and yet convenient to the facilities of the surrounding towns including Bar Harbor. While we enjoy living in the relative quiet of the western side of Mt. Desert, the amenities of Acadia National Park are nearly at our back door. You can get to parts of the park within 10 minutes and to Bar Harbor in about 30 minutes.
Please come, relax & enjoy the quiet with us whether you need a lovely private honeymoon cottage or just a peaceful getaway. You will find our rates competitive and our setting incomparable.
GENERAL INFORMATION: 1) Our housekeeping cottage is smoke free. No smoking inside the cottage at all times. 2) We have excellent wifi using 200 Mbs Spectrum Cable Modem Connection 3) We now have high definition television with Roku. 4) We enjoy pets enormously, but have found that pets are frequently unhappy in unfamiliar surroundings. We do have returning tenants who have allergies too. We regrettably have concluded that we can not accommodate any pets. 5) We do limit the number of people to four, including infants, no exceptions, please

This home was perfect for what we needed. The location is ideal and being right on the water was exactly what we were looking for. Great location for Acadia and Bar Harbor, just a short drive. The house was clean and check in was a breeze. Would definitely recommend!
Perfect cottage for our family of four. Kitchen has what you need. Comfortable bed. Easy quite side location to get to Acadia. Really enjoyed our stay and Kathy was a pleasure.

We would love for you to return. As we mentioned to you, if you need a winter getaway to relax and enjoy the quiet, we can make that work for you.

Loved our stay. It was a great location, clean and cozy. Kids thought it was magical. Sunsets were perfect. We went hiking in Acadia every day. Can't wait to return. Pro tip: Pillows are a bit hard so if you're picky about that, bring your own.

Wonderful hosts, a great house, and an incredible setting. A classic Maine cottage with perfect views of the sea. Great location with a short drive to southwest harbor. We stayed with 2 young children and had a great time visiting Acadia, friends in southwest harbor, and visiting Bar Harbor and Northeast Harbor. The house was clean, well appointed, and the view is perfection. Would rent here again on next visit.
We have now come for three years in a row. Simply put, we love it. Clean, cozy and updated cabin, amazing location, views views views.
The owners are responsive and helpful. We will continue to come back

As owners who reside on the property, we provide quick response to any issues our guests may encounter. That was certainly the case with this couple.
The tankless hot water heater installed in the cottage provides an endless supply of hot water at 120 degrees F. While the guests were here I took a look at the shower and found they had adjusted the shower head volume to a very low flow. As I explained to them, the heater requires an adequate flow to operate. With normal flows, the hot water supply is entirely reliable.
We utilize Roku to provide TV programming because we are in a remote area beyond the reach of over the air signals. In the years we have offered the Roku streaming service our guests have indicated it provides easy access to a world of programming options including the ability to utilize their own accounts with Netflix and many, many other streaming services.
The smoke alarms are in a bedroom adjacent to the kitchen and the living room. This is the first time we have had a report of unexpected or nuisance alarms. The guest indicated the alarm was triggered by cooking smoke. I suggested they might open windows in the bedroom and kitchen to provide additional ventilation to avoid triggering the smoke alarms.
After more than 50 years experience creating a safe, beautiful and joyful environment for our guests, it is disappointing when we fall short. Fortunately we don't often find ourselves there.
The cottage was clean and charming with everything you might need. The view of the sunset over the bay was breathtaking and different every evening. Pinelodge Cottage is convenient to everything on Mount Desert Island, but is a nice escape from the crowds on the east side of the island. Our host Kathleen was very helpful and responded to all questions. We'll be back!
Kathleen greeted us when we arrived and made sure we had everything that we needed and told us a bit about the area. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to be able to return. The bay is beautiful and it is great to be able to watch the ducks, and the lobster boats. We saw a doe and her fawn on the lawn a couple of times. The area is quiet and all of the activity of Acadia NP is easily reached from there.
We had a wonderful, relaxing, peaceful stay, a retreat! What we especially enjoyed most was that when we desired, we could go visit all the busier locations ie. beautiful Acadia and Bar Harbor which were close by yet come back to this beautiful little cottage and relax.
Our host could not have been more generous and helpful. This beautiful little cottage itself has everything you would require for a sort or long stay. We stayed 10 days and enjoyed all of them tremendously and we certainly would come back again
We enjoyed waking up and seeing the water less than 100 ft away. The hosts (Jay & Kathy) were there to answer our questions and even brought over buy spray and fresh towels. Comfortable queen size bed with nice linens. Shower was small but lots of hot water. At the end of the day, it was so nice to come back to the “Quiet side” to rest up for our adventure the next day.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week by the water. It was definitely the quiet side of the island. We have come to MDI for many years however this was the first time on the water and we could have just sat on the deck the entire time and been happy. Never been anywhere so peaceful. The cottage was clean and comfortable and Kathleen was very nice. The cottages are landscaped so you don't see the other cottages easily. We hope to return.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are so happy that you found Pinelodge Cottage this year and were able to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet with us. We would love for you to return
The cottage was clean and had everything we needed! We often cooked there to save money which worked out well. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The location was quiet and beautiful. We loved be able to look out the windows in the bedrooms and living room right onto the ocean! It was about 35 min to bar harbor and Acadia. I wish it were just a little closer, but there was also a road closed during the week were were there and if it were open it would have been a shorter drive.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your vacation here. You are right that the trip to Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor will be much better when the bridge is finally repaired. You are always welcome to come, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet with us.
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage overlooking Blue Hill Bay!
Kathy and her husband were very accommodating and helpful. It was
very comfortable especially the queen size bed. You could see amazing views of the bay from the living room and the patio. There was a path down to a small beach with stones where tidal pools collected. We loved the quietness after returning from a day in Bar Harbor. We hiked the trails nearby Ship Harbor and Wonderland - easy with wonderful
views at the end of the trails! Also we hiked the other trails around Acadia Park about 20 min away.
We would definitely recommend to family and friends!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am so glad to hear that you had a wonderful time here. You certainly are welcome to come back to enjoy the peace and quiet with us.
We had a fantastic week at this cottage in a private and lovely area on Mt. Desert Island. It was a cozy cottage for two adults with two college age children, but it provided us with everything we could have needed. The setting is spectacular with an iconic rocky coast that is accessible via a small path off of the backyard. Lobster buoys dot the water and you can watch the fisherman hauling up their traps every morning. We could access Acadia easily and enjoyed the nearby, quaint towns of Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Bernard.
Kathy and Jay are excellent hosts. We asked to borrow a few beach towels to take to Sand Beach and Echo Lake and they were happy to provide them for us. Overall, a great experience.

Jay and I are especially pleased when our guests return and stay with us again. Now your children will finish college and then some day they will bring their children to enjoy our peaceful location. I am not surprised that they wanted to return even though you needed to fly from your home to get here.
You certainly are welcome to come and stay with us again.

This property was as advertised and exactly what we were looking for. The house was clean and comfortable. The owners have taken good care of the house and made some updates, including tankless hot water system which worked great! The view from the deck was great and the path to the beach was easy. We took great pictures of the rocky beach and coastline both morning and evening. The owners were next door but there was plenty of privacy and they were available by text if we had questions. We were about 20 minutes from Bar Harbor but found several small businesses closer to us with good food and shopping. We really enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this house. We would definitely try to schedule it on a return trip to ME!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Jay and I are always happy to hear that our guests enjoyed our cottage and peaceful location. We would love to share our cottage with you the next time you come to MDI.
We had a lovely stay at this property. The owner is on the property but was not intrusive at all. The property had a beautiful view and a short path to the rocky beach which was a nice spot to watch the sunset - bring mosquito spray. The property had all amenities needed to cook nice meals - we had a lobster boil - there was a place selling live lobsters cheap just past all the outside seafood establishments on the way into the island. The bedrooms were comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water. There was no AC so if it is hot you may want to bring an extra fan (there was one there). A cozy fire was available for cool nights. Don’t forget to visit Bass Harbor light which was 5 minutes away. It took about 25 minutes to get to the road for Cadillac mountain.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on your stay with us. With the cottages on the same property as our home, we are available to respond the needs of our guests promptly. I wish we had known you could have used an additional fan.
In recent years we have engaged a licensed applicator who applies an insecticide to control ticks and mosquitos. With the rainy weather we have had this season, the mosquitos emerged earlier than normal. For future years we have moved that first application up to the third week in June.
You certainly are welcomed to come and stay with us again.
Thank you for the five star review. We are so glad that you and your family totally enjoyed your week stay and were able to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet with us.
My husband and I booked PineLodge for the first week of our Maine adventure this year. We love the quiet side of the island and this property was a wonderful way to disconnect, relax and set the tone for the rest of our trip. The property was very clean, comfortable (the water pressure in the shower is likely the “best shower” my husband has had while visiting the island 😁 and that says something considering he has been visiting for 50+ yrs) and has incredible ocean views. We loved being able to eat out on the back deck, sitting in the shade of the trees reading a book, and seeing the lovely deer and her fawns in the morning. We would certainly stay here again!
The only drawback we found were the carpenter ants that we were finding in the cabin (however, we bugs are normal when coming to Maine, so this wasn’t completely unexpected for us).
Everything we wanted from our stay in Acadia National Park. Cabin away from the high populated areas with direct access to the ocean and amazing hospitality.
