Penthouse in historic brothel, drenched in sunlight!
Soak up the sunlight in this 1000sf penthouse of this retired historic 19th-century Butchertown brothel. Blanketed in natural light, this 3rd story Garret has the feel of a sun-bleached tree-top tent, and is ideal for a couple's retreat or a friends' outing. A few of the city’s top restaurants and bars are less than a block walk away. Endless other drinking, shopping, and attractions are nearby in Nulu, Frankfort Ave, and the Waterfront.
The Space: Thirteen skylights and windows pour light into this large open space. Plants abound. The space is replete with sitting areas; lounge amenities include 5G WiFi, Netflix, Amazon Alexa, and smart lighting. The Crosley is stacked with vinyl. A live-edge bar offers a casual spot to share a drink before a night out, and a bistro table offers a cozy perch for dining in. A queen canopy bed crowns the large bedroom, which is trimmed with plenty of mirrors and a space to get ready for a night out.
Guest Access: - Street parking can be found all along Story Ave. - Guests have their own marked stairwell entry on the Frankfort Ave side of the building. - Electronic lock code for this stairwell entry and the Garret entry will be provided the day before check-in. - This is a 3rd floor unit with access by stairwell. The Garret can be found at the top of the stairwell, marked with a 4. - Note that the back courtyard and balcony are to be avoided due to ongoing renovation work.
Worth noting: This unit has an amazing location, but it is a busy corner. You may occasionally hear traffic, pedestrians, or construction noise, but it is fairly muffled by the apartment's insulation and height above the street - only our visitors from rural areas seem to notice the noise.

The stay was wonderful! We didn't use the kitchen much, but the host provided everything you would need in all the rooms. It was super comfortable, the couch in the living room was perfect. We will definitely stay again.
My wife and I stayed at Kevin’s penthouse for our honeymoon, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by the design. The earthy style of the penthouse was an incredible touch. my wife absolutely loved the aesthetic, and it created such a warm, calming atmosphere for our first trip as a married couple!Kevin was a fantastic host, ensuring everything was perfect for our special occasion. If you’re looking for a unique, stylish, and comfortable spot in Louisville, this is it. We’ll definitely be back!
Comfortable and well appointed! Cool neighborhood, found easy street parking all three days and was close (under 10 minutes) to all of my destinations. I would recommend to others and would definitely stay here again!
We were in town for the marathon and this place was a fantastic spot to unwind and relax. Close distance to downtown as well as many cool places in the neighborhoods of Louisville. The hosts were easy to reach and very kind. Highly recommend.
Everything was as advertised, and hosts were helpful and responsive. Skylights provided really nice natural lighting, and the apartment had an open yet cozy feel. Would definitely consider this listing again when back in the area.
We checked out a new area during our last visit to Louisville and were very pleased with our choice of a home base! Appreciated the accuracy of the description of the amenities and neighborhood. Can't wait to see what you do with all the building renovations you have planned.
The thoughtful decor and comfort made my visit to Louisville extra special. Soft carpet, pillows, art, plants, and a record player made it the perfect place to come back to after exploring the city all day. The location is great.
It is in walking distance to many restaurants and a short drive to other popular spots around town. The host is kind and helpful.
It looks exactly like the pictures. It had everything we needed. It was comfortable and relaxing. The hosts were super friendly and responsive. We were able to walk to restaurants and bars. There's even this cool bar right across the street that has every kind of beer you could ever want! Don't be afraid to ring the doorbell!
This property is very cute on the inside. However with that being said the outside and the entrance to this place was not the same. I was traveling alone as a young female and felt a little unsafe with the entrance to the unit along with reaching the unit as there was a lot of construction going on. The corner the building is on is also very busy and I was up every night from loud cars, etc. I know this cannot be avoided and is disclosed in the properties description however I believe it is important to note. Kevin was a great host and responded in a timely manner and was very nice. This unit is very accommodating and it has everything you need. I like the inside of the unit a lot.

Hi I'm Kevin! I grew up in Louisville farming mint for Derby juleps with my father. A 16yr career in product design lead me to Cincinnati, Boston, Brooklyn, & Northern Italy, until I returned home and wandered into architectural design and the historic renovation of these BnB's. I'm eager to host you and share these spaces with you, and to help you experience the many other things that brought me back to this warm, friendly city of my birth.

If New York’s West Village and Meatpacking District had a baby and sent it to Louisville, Butchertown would be it.

To the north and east, we're flanked by the new soccer stadium, Waterfront Botanical Gardens, and Waterfront Park with its walking bridge.
The Bed N Brothel is on the corner of Frankfort and Story Avenues, just 4 minutes away from Nulu’s shops and Frankfort Avenue’s dining.
