RIVERSIDE LODGE: wildlife watching, fishing, hiking from the house. Next to YNP!
Riverside Lodge is situated on the bank of the Yellowstone River with sweeping views of the northern mountain ranges of Yellowstone National Park. Nestled on 1.5 acres, this home is the perfect basecamp for families, hiking enthusiasts, fishermen, touring Yellowstone, riverside relaxation, stargazing, and wildlife watching. Fully stocked with quality beds, linens, kitchen and bath amenities, and adventure gear! The river is easily accessible from the house, with private access to fish, walk, and swim. In Montana, you can walk the riverbank anywhere below the high-water mark, so you can explore both up and downstream. Riverside Lodge is 5 miles to Gardiner and 3 miles to Yellowstone Hot Springs on the private side of the river, where you don't hear the traffic noise from Hwy 89. The year-round wildlife viewing opportunities on the road to Riverside Lodge and up to Mammoth are some of the best in Yellowstone! You may even spot elk from the deck as they meander down to the river to get a drink.
A note from a previous guest:
"Snow-capped majestic mountains, river with small waterfall and wildlife all around, it is a breath taking view from inside this amazing house. The house was pristine, super clean and very well stocked with whatever a person would need and then some! I would highly recommend a visit to this unique experience, one very seldom found!!!"

Details about the home:
Bedrooms and baths: The home has plenty of room to spread out with four bedrooms, three with private doors to the river view. On the main level there is a large master bedroom with king size bed, door to the covered deck overlooking the river, wall mount smart TV, and a private bath with shower. A second bedroom nearby on the main level has twin bunk beds. The bunk room adjoins a bath with a stall shower. On the lower, walk-out level of the home there are two additional roomy bedrooms, each with a queen size bed, river views and their own door out to the covered patio. One of these bedrooms has a small vanity and sink in the room as well. There are 3 full-sized bathrooms in this home. Two are located on the main level (one is en suite with the master bedroom and the other adjoins the bedroom with the bunk beds and is also accessible from the hallway) and the third bathroom is located on the lower level in the hallway and serves the two lower level bedrooms.
Kitchen: The fully-stocked open kitchen has everything you will need including updated appliances, microwave, drip coffee maker, toaster, crock pot, and a large pantry for your groceries. After a day spent exploring Yellowstone Park, you can kick off your hiking boots and gather around the island and recount your adventures while dinner is underway. If the cool evening is too much to resist, take the cooking out to the deck and soak in the river vibes as you cook on the gas grill. The local market is just 5 miles away and offers a wide array of local and gourmet items in addition to the normal staples, so you will be all set for your stay.
Dining area: The dining table will seat eight. In summer months, you’ll probably be enjoying meals outdoors on the deck overlooking the river, which is outfitted with a dining table and 6 chairs, a bistro table set with 2 chairs, and 4 cushioned rockers.
This home has 2 separate gathering areas, which is great for families looking to spread out. Upstairs in the great room, the living room is the ideal place to relax and put your feet up while still taking in the views through the picture windows looking out to Electric Peak, the tallest peak in the north side of Yellowstone Park at 11,000 feet. It's truly breathtaking! The other side of the living room boasts inviting river views and deck access that complete the picture.
On the lower level, the second gathering area is the perfect destination for fun and games. The large family room boasts a wonderful old upright piano, a mini pool & air hockey table, and a TV watching area with a 48” Flatscreen SmartTV, DVD player and satellite service. There’s also a nice collection of books and kids’ movies.
Laundry room: This rental home includes a full-sized washer dryer set with detergent, a full sized extra fridge, iron and ironing board, and utility sink. It is also stocked with a great collection of board games and extra towels for swimming in the river or a trip to Yellowstone Hot Springs.
Outdoor Amenities: A huge deck overlooks the river with a private patio below. Both spaces are outfitted with comfortable porch furniture to take in the outstanding views and privacy. The Riverside Lodge sits on the Yellowstone River so the river frontage is a huge draw of this property. There is a wonderful fishing hole just down the path from the house. Depending on the water level, there is a small island to explore and small areas of sand to dig in (usually around July 1 onward). We encourage exploration but also want you to be safe so we are happy to answer your questions and give you guidance about the river access. You can wander down the trail below the high water mark as far as you please. There are many trailheads nearby both within the Park boundaries and on nearby National Forest.
Location: The inspiring views from the property include Electric Peak, Devil's Slide, and of course the rolling Yellowstone River. Riverside Lodge is located just 5 easy miles north of the iconic Roosevelt Arch marking the original entrance to Yellowstone Park. The road to the lodge is gravel but is easy to drive and takes you through meadows at the base of the northern range where it is not uncommon to see antelope, elk, bighorn sheep, coyotes, and sometimes bison in the cooler months. Of course, grizzlies and wolves live in the hills of Yellowstone, too, and can be seen on occasion along this drive as well. It’s incredible country! Across the northern boundary of the property is a neighboring ranch’s irrigated hay field, which attracts herds of elk and deer year-round.
Once at the Riverside Lodge, you continue to experience Yellowstone's magic. From the deck of the lodge on an early summer evening, you can close your eyes and enjoy the sound of cascading water from the Little Trail Creek waterfall across the river, Canada geese calling from their nesting grounds along the river, a variety of birds and owls, and the delightful calls of newborn elk calves talking with their mothers. Fall is famous for bugling bull elk, which can be heard day and night from this unique spot. Starting in November, herds of Bighorn Sheep congregate below Devil’s Slide about 2 miles from the home. Pull off the road and listen to the resounding clash of heads as the males fight for dominance. Not your typical place.
There are lots of recreational opportunities in this area: miles and miles of trails, whitewater and scenic rafting, horseback riding, e-bike tours, wildlife tours, fishing, shopping, restaurants and food trucks, scenic drives, soaking in Yellowstone Hot Springs, Chico Hot Springs, and local music venues.

A perfect home away from home to spend a day exploring Yellowstone Park. So close to Yellowstone Hot Springs and Gardiner. We loved the views from the deck to the river and out the front toward Devil’s Slide.
We loved staying at this property. The location is close to Yellowstone park and there were lots of animals in the nearby fields. There was lots of space in the home and a great deck! The hosts were very helpful and easy to contact.
The kitchen is well stocked, appliances are all in good working condition. But the location can't be beat. The house has big windows with beautiful views of the river and the mountains around it. It was comfortable for my family. We were close to Yellowstone NP and spent our days in the park. But when it rained we were quite comfortable to spend the rainy evenings in the home. My kids enjoyed exploring the river banks while I cooked dinner. And there's a dinner bell on the corner of the balcony that we used each evening we were there to call kids back in for dinner. Our first morning there the yard was full of elk. And our last day geese landed near the home on the river and spent the day there. They were fun to keep track of. We got groceries in Livingston before we went to Gardiner, but there is also a small grocery store in Gardiner. We also spent an evening at the hot springs just down the road. It was so relaxing after a busy day hiking in the park and seeing wildlife. We will definitely be back!
Fantastic stay! The accommodations were clean and comfortable with amazing views of the mountains and river. Quick trek to Yellowstone made it an ideal base for our vacation.
This is the place to stay if you like breathtaking views, choices to gather or be alone, comfort & amenities galore. Our family of varying ages (5-64) were all content whenever we were back on site after adventure-filled days.
This location was absolutely perfect in terms of Yellowstone NP, Grand Teton NP and Bozeman airport. Also, the home was so peaceful as it sits right next to the Yellowstone River. We enjoyed relaxing at the house as much as visiting the national parks. We enjoyed the house more than we expected and our expectations were already high in the first place. We highly recommend staying here!
The riverhouse was perfect for our family of 6 as we explored Yellowstone. An elk herd of about 200 hung out around the house and in the river the whole time we were there. It was truly magical!
This is a beautiful home and the location right on the Yellowstone River is amazing ! We loved watching the elk around the yard and crossing the river! We enjoyed the fenced back yard for our dog ! The road leading up to it was in bad condition but they are in the process now of making improvements to that! Other than that everything was perfect !
Everything was great from the location to the house and beyond. The views from the house were amazing. Definitely would stay again and recommend to everyone.
This Montana retreat is a true gem! Thanks for opening your home to travelers like ourselves to enjoy the majestic mountains, roaming wildlife, and starry skies!
Highly recommend this paradise of the West.
We loved this home. It was everything we could have asked for. Beautiful views, right on the Yellowstone river, wildlife everywhere, minutes to the park entrance and plenty of room inside for 2 families. Our boys fly fished every morning and evening in the river and caught a number of trout. We grilled on the deck overlooking the river many nights. There were elk in the yard every evening. We would recommend it to everyone.
The house was amazing, it provided everything we could have ever needed for our group of 7. The views were awesome and the location was great! I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to come to Gardiner!
Family members came from 4 different states to enjoy Yellowstone NP. This house made our trip even better. Beds were comfortable, house was clean, and kitchen had all necessities.
We were so comfortable at the Riverside Lodge, it felt like our own home! Spacious, great kitchen, comfortable beds & furniture, and very clean. Gorgeous eastern views of the river and western views of the mountains and fields - felt like the real MT experience! Fun to be able to fly fish steps from the house, and for the non-anglers (mom) to be able to watch from the deck or mosey down to take photos. The teens enjoyed the mini-pool table. We visited the park every day, grabbing groceries as needed as we passed through Gardiner. So convenient! Thank you for opening your home to us, we loved our time there!
Clean, with all possible amenities you could ask for. The location is breath taking, the wildlife amazing, and the location ( if your headed to Yellowstone) is on the money.
