About this property
Cornell Cottage 1915 - Historic Gem!
Cornell Cottage 1915
If you know Cannon Beach, then you know Cornell Cottage. Located on Adams Street near downtown, you've walked by this beautifully restored cottage on your way to the beach and dreamed of staying here. This is the house that stops you in your tracks, the one that beckons you to come closer. The cottage garden suits this historic cottage to a T, inviting you step through the sweet front gate and step back in time. You've seen the chairs on the front porch and imagined yourself sitting there with your morning cup of tea or coffee, smelling that fresh ocean air, relaxing, and enjoying your favorite place on earth.
A woman named Emily Cornell built this cottage in 1915, and she and her son housed many of the loggers who came and helped create the town we now call Cannon Beach. These loggers stayed in her longhouses, which were located on the site of what is now the garage. Rich with the beguiling history of our beautiful town, the owners of Cornell Cottage invite you and yours to experience Cannon Beach in this remarkable and unique home.
Cornell Cottage is unique in that you might come with your sweetheart for a lovely weekend away from the world, you might come with your friends and family, kids and grandkids – you might even come by yourself for the simple joy of the ocean, and the special thing about Cornell Cottage is that all of these dreams are possible here.
From the moment you step inside, you will feel yourself immersed in the comfort and charm of a much-loved and well-maintained home. Newly painted, with new carpet and comfy furniture to snuggle into and relax, you will find Cornell Cottage to be as wonderful as you imagined.
As you enter the home, your eyes will be drawn to the river rock gas fireplace, with a sofa and chairs set just right to enjoy a fire on a cool evening. Open up the armoire and find a 42-inch Plasma TV, equipped with HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Encore and the Movie Channel. WiFi is also available through the property.
To the right as you enter Cornell Cottage you will see before you a long dining table, perfect for everyone to sit and eat together while facing the front garden and all it's beauty. This lovely long table is also perfect for family game night!
Checkerboard floors and vintage charm await you in the kitchen. Bright and welcoming, you'll find a kitchen table that seats four, gas stove, dishwasher, and fridge, with a well-stocked kitchen to make cooking a treat for family and friends.
On the main level you will also find a lovely queen bedroom tucked away in the southwest corner, adjacent to a bath with a clawfoot tub. A washroom with washer and dryer, utility sink, and half bath complete the downstairs space.
Stairs in the living room take you to the upstairs bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and the second with two twins. The charm of this historic cottage follows you through each room, and you will find these upstairs bedrooms to be so inviting, with classic beadboard and vintage furnishing. The reader in your family will find a hidden treasure in the loft bench, found underneath the windows at the far end. Perfect for hours of reading pleasure (or a well-deserved nap after a day at the beach).
A kitchen door leads you outside, across from another door leading you into the renovated garage. Inside you will find a large, playful space with 4 built-in twin beds, a separate light-filled queen bedroom, and a large bathroom with shower. This extra, private space is part of what gives Cornell Cottage its uniqueness, enabling various friends and family members to claim their own special hideaway. You'll also find, just outside the main house kitchen door, a beautifully constructed outdoor shower – heaven for those surfers and boogie boarders among you!
The backyard – a fenced yard! – is just the ticket for your four-legged friend. Cornell Cottage welcomes your well-behaved best friend, the one who has four legs and loves the beach above all else (except you). Just imagine sitting around the firepit of an evening, warm weather or cool, sharing a local beverage or two with all your best friends, smelling that clean ocean air, knowing you've just had the best of all possible days together.
As you leave Cornell Cottage in the morning, you will have to decide where to go. Left for one short block takes you to the incomparable beach, that gorgeous long stretch of sand that is Cannon Beach. If you turn right, then left on Hemlock, you will find yourself within two blocks of downtown Cannon Beach, known for its exceptional restaurants and vibrant arts scene. You can't help but realize you're in the most perfect location to experience this beloved beach town, from sand to shore, with historic Cornell Cottage in between, just for you.
