Bootleggers

Located "on the hill" in downtown Saugatuck, you'll have everything at your fingertips. Walk to the assortment of shops, restaurants, art galleries, parks, theater, and the waterfront boardwalk. There is something for everyone to enjoy!

If Lake Michigan is calling your name, you can reach a variety of beaches in less than 10 minutes by car - The Oval Beach, The Douglas Beach, and the Saugatuck Dunes State Park.

Back at Bootleggers, you'll find great outdoor space to enjoy your vacation. A yard to play, a fire pit for s'mores, and a deck with outdoor furniture for an alfresco meal.

Head inside where you'll find a large, eat-in kitchen with everything you need to make a meal at home. The living room boasts sliding glass doors to the deck and a wood burning fireplace which is available in the colder months.

There are a total of 4 bedrooms including one that has an extra bonus room with twin bed. Both bathrooms have been updated and offer the quality you'd expect for your home away from home.

Bootleggers is an ideal home base to relax and explore the greater Saugatuck Douglas area.

Please Note:
This is a historic cottage in downtown Saugatuck. The bones are original to the house including interior doors, wood flooring, and some windows. The floors are not always even and the doors do not line up perfectly. We hope you will enjoy these quirks.
The street of the address of this home is not the same street you access the home from. We will give you driving directions at check-in. GPS will not take you to the home.
In 2021 the property was given a fresh coat of paint, new linens, new furniture, and adorable decor.

Mt Baldhead Race trip

Cute house, perfect size for 6 women for an extended weekend. House is older but clean, easily walkable to downtown restaurants, bars and shops.

Easter Visit

It was the first time we stayed at this property. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the cottage and the privacy. The weather wasn’t conducive to utilizing the deck and fire pit so we would consider staying here again in the fall.

We stayed in town for a wedding. The location was great and the house well suited for 7 adults and 2 kids (and two. dogs!) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A few notes of improvement (but didn't impact our stay too much): 1) Consider blackout or darkening curtains, especially in the twin room where kids may stay. 2) New pans that aren't scratched and/or are flat for them to work on the stove. 3) We couldn't get the AC working. Thankfully it wasnt too hot but definitely could be a problem with hotter weather.

Was a rainy weekend so we didn’t get to enjoy out side but it was a great location for a quick walk downtown to som bars/food. The house was clean and not far from the management office if something was needed.

Family Vacation

I didn't like the check in process. We had to go to the management office in town to check in. Also they say the check in was a little delayed because they were still cleaning the house. When we finally got into the house the floors were full of sand. I understand its a beach town, but my daughter ended up sweeping the whole house. I don't believe the floors were cleaned or swept. Also all of the beds were very old and uncomfortable. The area was great loved being close to town. The outside area was awesome and very quiet. We loved our trip, but the house was just okay.

Location & Pet Friendly ++ cleanliness -

Location and being able to bring our dog were both huge pluses. There was plenty of space to sleep all the people the ad describes. The draw backs were: 1. The beds 2. The blinds in many of the rooms were see through so there was no way to block the view of the neighboring home when getting dressed. 3. Quality of the furniture was low (example dresser drawers were on tracks) 4. There was a huge deck with multiple tables and chairs which hadn’t been cleaned. The outdoor furniture was unusable except for what we cleaned ourselves. Although the negatives seem to outweigh the positives I would stay there again if I needed a pet friendly home near down town Saugatuck.
