We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Carriage House. Very convenient to shopping, restaurants or just chilling on the waterfront. It is clean and well thought out. The bed and living room furniture are all very comfortable. There are plenty of towels and other essentials provided allowing you to just relax and enjoy your stay. We love the screened porch and beautiful yard. Steve is a great host, always helpful and responsive and an invaluable source for local information. We highly recommend the Carriage House and any property hosted by Steve.
Very nice accommodations, and very close to restaurants and activities
We enjoyed our stay in Beaufort. The Carriage House was very clean and comfortable, and just a block from all the activities on Front Street. Steve was great to work with, very friendly and willing to provide extras if necessary.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Carriage House. Steve and Gail were wonderful hosts. The bed was really comfortable and the location was perfectly located. We were able to walk to everything. Highly recommend this place.
This place was perfect! The wife & I were just looking for a long weekend away from everyday life. We could not have asked for a better location, property, host, etc.. Steve was super responsive, friendly & was a joy to talk to. Knows the best places to go & where to eat. We loved everything about our little getaway. It was clean, private, provided off street parking and was within walking distance of everything we wanted to do.
The property is really perfect for a weekend in Beaufort. It’s walkable to the water, shops, and restaurants. The owners were helpful and kind. I’ll definitely be back.
Very charming with an ideal location to downtown Beaufort. Hosts were wonderful.., arrived late to the carriage house with the lights on for our arrival. It was a perfect get away- lovely accommodations, good food from restaurants.., can not wait to return!
It is in a great location within walking distance of all of Beaufort. The place is well decorated and supplied with all needed for a pleasant stay. Walking to the docks and restaurants is easy. Catching a boat ride is easy. No need to find a parking spot. Just leave the car at the cottage and walk. We would definitely stay again.
Thank you Steve and Gail, great hosts. The unique Carriage House is one that we will be back next year for our third stay. Only a 2-3 minute walk to Front Street and all the shops and restaurants in Beaufort.
We had a peaceful and enjoyable stay at the Carriage House! Quiet location with private parking just a block from Front Street. The interior was immaculate and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed having coffee on the screened porch and watching and listening to the birds in the beautiful gardens.
The property was super clean and decorated beautifully. The hosts were super nice. The area was great to walk to shopping, dining and the waterfront. The Carriage House was tiny, but actually perfect for us. We were very comfortable there and enjoyed our stay. We are looking forward to coming back very soon!
The pictures don’t do this cute carriage house justice. It is within 5 minute walk of almost everything Beaufort offers. Great restaurants are even closer. For those dining in, the kitchen is fully equipped It is very lovely and lovingly decorated. We loved our time there. We visit Beaufort regularly and hope to be back soon!
Friendly hosts, who were great communicators. Charming carriage house in perfect location. Home was well appointed. My stay would not have been the same if I stayed anywhere different. Home is in the heart of Beaufort, within walking distance of all popular attractions.
Charming carriage house. Up the steps to a little hideaway with all you need. One block from everything and the waterfront. Owners are attentive and accommodating. Beaufort is a wonderful town to ramble around.
The Bishops are wonderful hosts. We take several trips per year, but the Carriage House in Beaufort is our absolute favorite. It's private, yet within walking distance to numerous restaurants, shops and the waterfront. It's only a 15 minute drive to Atlanti Beach and other attractions. If you ever need a suggestion on where to go, what to see or the best restaurants in town, just ask Steve or Gail. Their suggestions never disappoint!
The place was great. Very nice cozy little place. Perfect location for what Beaufort has to offer. I have nothing bad to say although if I did the WiFi was not the greatest. However, this in no way would deter us from staying here again.

About the host
Hosted by Steve Bishop
The owners are Gail & Steve Bishop. We have lived in Beaufort for 20 years. We are the previous owners of a sailing charter business, Lookout Cruises, located on the Beaufort docks. We also own The Hideaway, 129 Craven Street, The Bungalow, 129 Craven Street and 800 Mulberry Street Cottage.
Why they chose this property
We had a long term renter in the carriage house who eventually purchased a home in Beaufort. We decided to completely remodel the historic structure so that we could have additional space for our children when they visit and rent the remaining weeks to couples in the hopes they will enjoy all that Beaufort has to offer.
What makes this property unique
We tell our friends who visit that once you arrive in Beaufort and park your car, you will not need it for a week. There are 16 fantastic restaurants within 2 blocks and lots of locally owned shops within a few minutes walk. The NC Maritime Museum with Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge exhibit is around the corner. Other attractions include the Beaufort Historic Grounds, The Old Burying Grounds, historic homes tours and plenty of water activities.
