Cottages built for privacy and unobstructed views, located in Austurey by lake Apavatn.
The sleeping area contains a ready-made double bed (160cm) which leads to a private bathroom with a shower. Each cottage has a fully equipped kitchenette as well as a table and chairs for dining.
In the living room is a smart flat screen television and a sofa where guests can relax and enjoy the view over the lake as well as the surrounding mountains and volcanoes Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull.
In front of each house is a veranda with private garden furniture and barbecue facilities (gas grill).

Austurey has been owned by the family for 92 years, or since 1926.
Today the family still raises sheep in Austurey 1 as well as partly running a heating utility and water supply utility. Part of the lake Apavatn and the river Hólaá is also part of Austurey´s 1 land, which is a popular place to fish.
We, Lárus Kjartansson and Magndís H. Sigmarsdóttir are the owners of Austurey Cottages. We have four daughters, Anna Kolbrún, Auður María, Magnea Ósk and Helga Marín.
We started building six cottages in the summer of 2017, which were ready on the 1st of June 2018. Two years later we built the Lakefront Villa close to the cottages and only recently started renting it out. We love welcoming guests to Austurey and try to accommodate our guests in the best possible way.
