Our family of 5 adults had a great time at this retreat! It was clean and had everything we needed and more. The beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of throws for relaxing in the cool evenings. The ping pong table and fireplace in the family room was a special bonus. We would definitely stay here again!
Such a lovely home right across from Black Lake and direct access to the Rainy River. All the comforts of home with thoughtful touches from the owner. We had a wonderful stay and will hopefully be back next summer!
The home was perfect. It was a last minute romantic get away so available properties were limited but we are so glad we decided to stay here. The home is a good size and can easily accommodate up to 10 people. All the rooms are a good size. The location is just beautiful. The nights we spent sitting around the fire were phenomenal. The beds were very comfortable as well. I would 100% recommed this place.

Disappointing. We had to wash our sheets when we arrived. All the beds had hair in them. There were 5 of us with 6 washcloths. 2 hand towels for 2 bathrooms. Thankfully there was plenty of laundry soap. We could not use the outside because it was dirty. Garbage in fire pit and pine needles on the deck. Steps to the house were soft and dilapidated. No firewood.

Hello! It would have been so helpful if only you had reached out regarding any of this when you arrived, or at any time during your stay. I cleaned the home myself and washed and remade all beds. I would have been happy to come remake beds or provide you access to clean sheets so you didnt need to wash clean items.
We always provide at least 1 towel and washcloth per guest and there are 3 to 4 hand towels for the bathrooms. Your arrival coincided with fall and rain storms which unfortunately makes pineneedles and leaves fall from the trees. This happens every fall and isnt "dirty" I did notice the 1 empty pop can in the fire pit and neglected to grab it during the thunderstorm when I finished cleaning. My apologies ! As our other reviews suggest, we strive for great guest experiences and we are sorry to have missed the mark on your visit.
Right along the river and across the road from the lake, nice location! (Note, manually enter the address in your GPS, when i clickrd "get directions " in VRBO, it took me to the neighbor's house!) The house was comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with all you need to cook up a storm. Note about the rooms, there is only one downstairs and both bathrooms are also downstairs. Upstairs, everyone should be related or not worried about privacy. The loft room bed is open and is between the other two rooms, so everyone walks out into that open section. It worked fine for us as the couple and their children slept up there :) We enjoyed the backyard fire pit and the kayaks. I recommend this house.
This property is in a beautiful setting on the Rainy river which eventually drains into black lake. There is no direct access to Black lake but a State Park is a mile down the road where you can swim. The interior was clean and there was plenty of room for all. The biggest drawback was there was no air conditioning and it was 90 degree weather during our stay. The upstairs bedrooms were terribly hot and some of the windows in the home either didn’t open or did not have screens. There was one portable fan available. The ceiling fans were of marginal help. Another big drawback is that there is no gas grill for outdoor cooking. There is only an old fashioned Weber grill that we had to buy charcoal and lighter fluid for. That’s really inconvenient. Natural gas is hooked up to the house furnace so a gas grill could easily be installed and should be. The exterior of the property is well worn I noted multiple damaged and loose deck and walkway boards as well as a back step in need of repair before someone is injured in a fall. The host was very responsive to our questions both before and during our stay. Overall I would recommend this property if the weather isn’t going to be too hot out!
This house was reserved for a family of ten with three dogs. Our trip was to Mackinac Island, which is about a 45 min drive NW of this rental. This distance was really nice. When we arrived we counted that it could probably sleep 12 total, which was nice because we didn't want to be too cramped. Though there was only (dinner) seating for six: one four seat table and two bar stools. We had brought chairs along so we all huddled around the table. The house was much nicer than any of us originally expected. It was pleasantly larger and had a little bit of everything we needed. We did not notice any damage upon arrival (other than a glass window pane that had been taped) or anything that looked out of place. Almost everyone slept great the first night. The owner requests everyone to remove their shoes, which we did throughout our stay. This was fortuitous because it was rainy and muddy that weekend. We hung three dog leashes as well as a towel on the coat rack next to the front door, so we could bring them in and and immediately wipe their paws as well. We did not hang anything else on it, but it did fall down the morning we left. The large diameter plastic wall anchors used always create damage pulling out drywall during failure. There was evidence of a prior repair. I would suggest metal fold-out drywall anchors that sit behind the drywall, which are much stronger. Overall, we had a very nice stay and would consider this rental again, given another vacation opportunity.

Thank you so much for choosing our place! The window was broken recently, it is scheduled to be repaired as soon as it comes in (had to be ordered) and I'm sorry the coat hooks fell during your stay. This has been permanently repaired the correct way. Sorry for the inconvenience. Glad you enjoyed your stay we hope you come back and visit soon! :)
