Great location

All amenities beside house. 2 adults and 4 children stayed with plenty of space. Great freshly made pastries and bread in shop opposite house. Restaurants and pubs 5 minutes walk.

Older property in good location

Sean, The host was very friendly and accommodating. But the property is older than anticipated and the furniture smelled of cat urine. A deep cleaning and new furniture would improve the quality of the townhouse. The bedding was old and new pillows would be a nice addition. The location was very good and a nice walking distance to the waterfront, shopping, pubs, restaurants, casinos and cathedrals. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Hello, sorry that the apartment accommodation did not match your expectations. We do not allow pets of any sort into the accommodation. The bedding is not old. We cannot get American non iron sheets so they come from China. I take issue with the comment on CAT URINE, maybe the fibres in the re - apolstered couches did not agree with you. Sean Treacy.

Quiet neighborhood, great apartment

Close to the promenade and restaurants of Salthill, but still walkable to downtown Galway. The apartment was great, had everything we needed. Using the washer/dryer was tricky so pay attention to the instructions given.

Salthill holiday

Unit was clean and spacious. Needs some updating of furniture and electronics/wifi but otherwise fine. We were out and about most of the day. Host Sean covered everything and answered every question. 25 min to walk into Galway for shopping. Host recommended an Italian restaurant in Salthill which was fantastic.

Greeted by host and showed around the tips & tricks of apartment and neighborhood. The small townhouse complex faces the road but the promenade/beach is just behind 2 min walk (peek of the sea from bedroom windows) Clean, comfortable, roomy bedrooms with wardrobes, end tables. Plenty of towels and 2 nice showers, just pay attention to instructions for water heater if you have a group that may want hot showers different times of day. We did not cook much but kitchen had essentials and nice sized fridge. Convenience shop and nice small grocery market with fresh breads and deli, dairy essentials right across the road, as well as bus stop. 5 minute walk to Salthill village restaurants, off license, pubs. You could walk to city center (20min) but we often took bus in 2, taxi back late in evening 8-10. We were originally going to be 5 adults staying, wound up being 3-but this was still a very reasonable option for a roomy apartment away from the noise and busy-ness of city center, even without a car! Thanks Sean for a great stay at Grattan House.Post script: 2flights of stairs up to apartment, and unit also has interior stairs up to one of the en-suite bedrooms. (Not a problem for us, just FYI)

Felt like a Bain and Switch Scam

We arrived with our van driver at the correct address, and had partially unloaded our baggage when the host arrived and told us to put the baggage back in the van and follow him. We went about half a block and then started to unload our baggage outside an apartment garage. He was motioning us to follow him. I asked him “What are we doing?” His reply was, “You’re following me” I informed him that we had more baggage than we could all carry. We had 3 adults and 3 children. He said he would get a trolley. He sent 4 of us up on an elevator, then the rest of us in the second elevator trip, with the trolley baggage staying behind. He showed us around for about 60 seconds and then asked who’s the head person. I said me, and he took me across the hall to another apartment. He said, is this going to be OK? It wasn’t until then that re revealed that the unit that we had reserved would not be available because the woman in the unit above had run a load of laundry and there had been a plumbing issue. I was shocked. I asked “Why didn’t you call us in the morning and inform us that this was an issue?” His reply was that he thought he could get it fixed, but he contradicted himself later so that obviously wasn’t true. He also could have told us when we first met, be he deliberately kept us in the dark about the situation and he was rude to us as he did that. The unit we were moved to did not have a bathtub, which we needed for our young boys, poor matresses, and our family not together.
