The Community is approximately 12 miles outside of Wilkesboro, and the cabin is 6 miles up the mountain on a paved road. During the warmer months all vehicles have easy access to the cabin, but an All-Wheel Drive / 4WD vehicle is helpful for winter months IF there is HEAVY snow for the safest travel.

Buck Mountain Community has some rules too. Dogs must be on leash when not on the premises and if unleashed at the cabin and outside, must respond to voice/hand recall they need to be leashed (for their safety from wildlife and that of the other residents and pets).

There is a Community Garbage Compactor, within the Buck Mountain Community, where guests are required to dispose of their own household trash.

NO Swimming/boating in the Pond or at Staghorn Falls water pooling area. (please mind other Community Posted signage and rules)

Know that this is a RUSTIC MOUNTAIN RETREAT- with all the beauty of nature that comes with the cabin, there are challenges and other gifts from mother nature. Storms can effect satellite TV and unexpected interruption to other utilities (ie. water is from a private well that can loose pressure, or have other issues, from time to time and cause a temporary loss of water service). Also natures little critters that tend to like to visit the cabin too…Lady Bugs usually present (due to Christmas Tree Farms in the area) as well as some other flying insect friends. Like most of the area, brown marmorated stink bugs can be a an issue. (As noted on many websites if you Google it for the mountains and other areas of NC. Google it) We do what we can, but this is part of what comes along with a property in the mountains.

If you have allergies (pet or environmental) this may not be the cabin for you, as we do allow pets - pollen and dust are impossible to keep out 100% even with routine cleaning.

Primary renter MUST be over 25 and onsite during the rental.

*Property has security cameras on the exterior to monitor entrance doors, driveway and inside basement to

Amazing view, wonderful host, awesome location! We really appreciated being able to stay here and soak in the peak of fall color the mountains gave! We've stayed in several cabins in the WNC area and this was right up there with the best of them! Close to Boone and blowing rock, and within an hour drive to some of the areas well known hikes and the blue ridge parkway. Grocery stores were close enough for forgotten items if we needed them, yet the kitchen had everything we needed and we appreciated the pantry items that were available to us. The fireplace needed a servicing and Tammy was prompt in getting the gas company out to resolve it for the remainder of our stay. My 3 year old enjoyed the jetted tub and while we were seeking an outdoor hot tub, this was a great alternative with having small children with us. We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a tranquil getaway while having an array of options for dining, hiking, shopping & outdoor activities!

Wonderful private cabin with excellent views

The cabin was very clean, and well stocked with many amenities (soaps, cooking spices, oils, even containers and ziplocs). You'll quickly feel like you're at home, and you won't really want to leave because the views are so amazing. It was so great to have breakfast and sip coffee outside on the deck, looking out on the vast expanse of hills and trees. The privacy is amazing as well, especially on the back deck, very quiet and peaceful.

Stunning views

Great place. Clean and had all the necessities we needed - grill, fire pit, etc. The views off the porch were incredible. If you are looking for a secluded destination - this is the place. We really enjoyed our stay.

Great Place for R and R

The view is great and we rarely heard anything more than birds and crickets . It feels like you're in the middle of nowhere, like you've gone back in time, and yet you're only 20 minutes from town. Great place and I hope to visit again soon.

Perfect getaway!!

The perfect weekend, or longer, getaway from the congestion of Charlotte. Perfect location between Wilkesboro and Boone. The dogs loved the big window and deck to watch the clouds and critters. We also loved the giant window to watch the BEAUTIFUL sunrise. Clean, well stocked, maintained, and beautiful home on the mountain. Can't wait to come back!

Best view on Buck Mountain!

Beautiful house sits at the peak of Buck Mountain with stunning views. We could see 5 different fireworks displays on 4th of July. Owner was super helpful and prompt in all correspondence. Home had all the necessary amenities and it was well taken care of. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Spectacular!

A very special place to visit. The home was exactly as described and we never left the community during our stay. The owner pays attention to the details and we benefited from her thoughtfulness. When visiting, be sure to take advantage of the community offerings and wonderful trail system along the creeks. Recommend without hesitation!

Beautiful views and a memorable stay!

The views that this cabin affords you are impeccable. My wife and I ended several late afternoons on the patio overlooking the Mountain view with a glass of wine and a perfect sunset. You get all the privacy you can ever want, in addition to being in a great spot to serve as a base for adventures in the area (hiking, tubing, visiting Boone/Blowing Rock, etc) this cabin served all our needs and surpassed our expectations. As an added bonus, Tammy was super responsive to even the most mundane requests. It’s an ideal spot and we’d happily return!

Weekend getaway

We enjoyed the stay; off the beaten path, but we wanted the peace and quiet. Views were absolutely wonderful and we had clear nights with unbelievable star gazing. Clean, comfortable, relaxing. Great areas and activities are a relatively short drive. Cabin is 5 miles off the main road, through a gated area, and little to no traffic. Bed comfortable but we would rather have had a king; its upstairs and shower is downstairs but there is a large jacuzzi upstairs. Well-stocked kitchen and grill worked fine. Tammy is great with communication and information (thanks!). We would recommend this lovely cabin and would consider staying here again.

Beautiful cabin, beautiful area, awesome vacation.

The cabin was amazing. Tammy was super responsive. We had a super minor problem with water that we didn’t find out about until 2am, and Tammy responded around 7am. I wasn’t expecting a response until like noon, but she solved our problem well before any of us even woke up lol. Totally recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a beautiful view as soon as you wake up in the morning. There was also coffee already there! If you get carsick pretty easily, be careful driving to-from the cabin. I had to stop twice in just one drive because I was getting carsick from my OWN driving. Anyway, loved the place. 5 stars all around.

Birthday Getaway

This property is truly “A Slice of Heaven.” We booked a last min weekend getaway during the 4th of July weekend and this place did not disappoint. I will state this the pictures do not do it justice!! If you are looking for seclusion and peace you have found the right home!! I would say the only “downfall”, which truly isn’t not a downfall at all is once you get to the cabin you truly don’t want to leave so make sure you obtain all of your supplies and needs. It is about a 18-20 min drive from the gate, it is a steep incline with a lot of hidden curves (what do you expect when your on a mountain though?). This home has everything you could possibly need a then some. I would say the only thing I wish it had was a hot tub on the deck and a hammock, but that is me just being spoiled. Not only was the cabin everything and then more, but Tammy was excellent! She was very responsive and helpful even during a holiday weekend! Don’t delay or pass this one up it is worth every penny!!!

Perfect Getaway

My hubby and I needed a break from the stress of the past year. We wanted a place to stay that was relaxing, peaceful and would be surrounded by the beauty of nature. Nailed it!! The area was beautiful, quiet, secluded but not so secluded that you felt like Tom Hanks in Castaway. The view is breathtaking from basically anywhere in the home. There is a community recreation area with trails, waterfalls, picnic areas, hammocks along the trails - if you want to have a quick nap... (what a cool idea) and is dog- friendly! The home is kept stocked with the essentials; toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies...The kitchen is well stocked with seasonings, condiments, coffee, sugar, cooking utensils, bowls, mixers etc., so if you want to bring out your inner chef, it’s all there! There are games, a multitude of DVD’s to choose from and Alexa to play great tunes while sitting on the deck watching the sunset. Tammy was great - she was responsive, informative - she gave detailed info on everything - including the local hot spots, restaurants and even maps of the community area with trails etc. She also responded quickly to any questions I had. I feel rejuvenated .. and hopefully, can revisit and enjoy the peace again soon!

Beautiful cabin...perfect view...a little far away from rainy day activities.

This cabin was beautiful....cannot say enough good things about it! It was clean, well furnished, and the view! The view alone made the stay worth it. My only critique would not have been a critique if the weather cooperated. The cabin is pretty far up a mountain which is pretty far away from civilization. Normally, this would have been fantastic, since there were plenty of hiking trails and beautiful sights right on the mountain the cabin is on. Unfortunately, it rained the second and third day of our trip. The satellite TV went out because of the rain, and we had three small kids that were bored coloring and playing games after about an hour. So we had to venture out to find things to do- and it took us over an hour to get anywhere. So it wound up being a lot of extra travel time that we weren't really prepared for. We were pretty bummed that we didn't get enough time to take advantage of all the fun things to do right at this cabin. So my suggestion for other renters would be: if you have small kids, bring DVDs and extra "stuff" for them to do if the weather is bad. And don't expect to be close enough to anywhere for take-out...because it is not happening! Thankfully, the cabin has a "guest pantry" with a box of pasta that saved us when we realized we were nowhere near a pizza place! All in all this was a great place to stay and we would definitely stay there again!

Breathtaking views!!

This cabin was absolutely perfect for our family and allowed us to enjoy breathtaking views from the very moment we woke up each morning! Amenities were nice and updated while still maintaining a true cabin feel — great balance between the two. The owner was also fantastic to work with as she was not overbearing with rules as some others can be, just asking to respect the property and treat it as if it were our own. Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us! These were treasured memories for our family!

Perfect Fall mountain getaway

We were wanting a cabin in the mountains that provided very specific things such as being high enough up with a fantastic view, a wrap around porch, a grill for grilling, WiFi connection etc. Tammy's cabin provided all that and so much more. You are truly treated as a guest in their home. You will never be disappointed with her family cabin. It was an absolute delight and gave us the peace and quiet and serenity that was needed if only for a few days.
