About this property

In the Heart of It All – Elegant Town-Center Charm Awaits!

A perfect Cape Cod retreat! On a quiet street, yet in the center of town, this house is ideal for a family vacation. The house is designed to offer privacy; a separate apartment on the bottom floor has it's own kitchen, bath and sitting area, and the bedrooms are situated on the first floor so that grandparents, or visiting friends, can have a little peace and quiet, even with kids running around.

This charming Cape house is within walking distance of everything. You don't need to get into your car to go to the general market, restaurants, galleries, Mayo Beach, shops or, most importantly, the ice cream shop.

The house is airy and light, but cozy. There is great cross ventilation, so it never seems hot, even in August. We have significantly renovated the house for 2016, so that it combines the best of a traditional cape house, but has been spruced up: we have reshingled, repainted, and have a newly revamped bathroom.

Everything is within easy distance of the house. The new community center is a two minute walk, so that young and old alike can enjoy the activities there. You can walk to get your morning coffee and croissant, and the only dilemma will be whether you spend 2 minutes to go to the market or to the Flying Fish Cafe, or decide to stroll an extra 5 minutes to one of the other great breakfast places.

In the evening, you have your choice of cooking in the spacious kitchen and grill, and entertaining yourselves and guests, or walking to one of the many fabulous restaurants. You can chill with a bottle of wine and Wellfleet oysters on the deck as the kids run around the backyard.

Rainy days don't feel claustrophobic because the house is well designed, and there is plenty of space, a rarity in a house that sleeps 10. We love playing board games (and have quite a collection), or putting together puzzles as a family. This house allows you to bond as a family, but doesn't force you to be in each others' space.

Older kids can walk to the town pier, play basketball at the community court, go fly kites on the beach, or meet friends at the Mac Shack. Bring or rent bicycles for the whole family and go on the Rail Trail (an easy ride for all ages) or go to the National Seashore, a beautiful, but more challenging ride. Teens can even ride bikes to the ocean beaches and ponds.

Great in town property

My family has been visiting Wellfleet for over 50 years. We have rented various properties in various locations. We love the location of this property. It is right off Wellfleet’s Main Street but easily walkable to the harbor and bay beach. It is great for families as bathrooms on every level and good kitchen and living space. Hoping to visit next year!

Wellfleet is a great place to visit on Cape Cod

Great location!

This family vacation was wonderful in this house just steps away from center of Wellfleet. We loved being so close to coffee shops, bakery, ice cream shop and grocery and fish markets. Another added plus, being the owner of an EV, there is a fast charger walking distance from house.

This is our second time in this house. We had a wonderful time (again). It was ideal for our multi-generational family - great to be so close to town. The house worked well for us. The owner and property manager were very accessible for any questions. (We didn’t have any problems.) After many decades (!) renting on the Cape, we were in town for the first time and it was fun. Only suggestions: Hopefully the website has been updated to include a wonderful outdoor shower and 6 queen beds - not 4 queens and 2 full. And maybe one bedroom could have twin beds for kids. We had a lovely time. Thank you to the Shah family and manager John.

My family of 10 loved staying at this home. Being in town with all the shops walking distance was perfect. The layout was perfect for our group that included a couple with a 2 year old as there is a separate living quarters on the lower level. Everything in the house worked well and the property manager was super responsive to any questions we had.

Fabulous house and location in Wellfleet

We loved staying in this house. It is beautiful, comfortable, spacious, child-friendly, and perfectly located -- and it beautifully accommodated our extended multi-generational family. It also has a deck -- and a large backyard that the kids loved playing in. The center of Wellfleet is just steps away -- but there is also easy access to both the bay and ocean beaches -- and the ponds. We would very much like to stay here again!

The house was perfect for our family reunion! It is in wonderful condition and well cared for as the property manager John stopped by during our stay to be certain everything was going well and took care of trash and recycling regularly. The location in downtown Wellfleet was also wonderful for easy access to anything we needed. We highly recommend this property.

Great stay! Perfect for our group!

The house has a great layout with open floor plan on the main floor with good flow through kitchen, dining and living areas. The bottom floor is huge and accommodated the younger kids well. Everyone enjoyed the large high def tv and and large dining table for family meals. Beds (some queen and some full size) were very comfortable. The house is right in town and in the evenings we enjoyed being able to hear the concerts going on at Preservation hall.

This was our third year staying at this lovely house in Wellfleet. And as soon as we got home, we signed up for our fourth. Our whole family loves this house and the visit we make to it each year. The location is excellent. There is easy access to shops, the town center, the library, and gelato. We can reach any of the many beaches and ponds. We like to visit within 10 minutes. The house itself is spacious and beautifully decorated. Every year, something else has been improved. Also, John, the property manager, is always available to deal with any concerns or repairs. Udayan, one of the owners, is welcoming and super responsive. We really can’t say enough about how much we love this place. And, of course, it is located in one of our favorite places on the planet: Wellfleet. Our young grandchildren have gotten to be old enough to remember last year to look forward to the next, and being able to stay in this house makes it all possible.

Wonderful Wellfleet Week!

Udayan and Barbara's home was even better than expected. There was plenty of space for our group of ten. The yard is great and the location can't be beat. It was great being able to walk into town and down to the pier/harbor area while also being just a very short drive to ponds and beaches. Long Pond is my favorite spot in Wellfleet and it's a mere 1.5 miles away. An extra perk is the (relatively new) homemade gelato/candy store right across the street -- yum! Udayan is a great communicator and John, the property manager, is a super nice guy. Would definitely stay here again!

Made vacation a real vacation

This home far exceeded our expectations. It is extremely clean, beautiful, warm and welcoming with all the amenities we could ever need or want. I think we all gasped when we first walked in! And when I had a question, I got an immediate answer. We've stayed in couple other properties at the Cape over the last 10+ years and this is by far the best. We had an easy check-in and communications and again, the property is exceptional. We hope we can stay there again next year - "same time, same station".

Family reunion in Wellfleet

Simple cottage in a great location. Walkability to shops and restaurants is great. Plenty of room for our 6 person family - we used 4 of the bedrooms. The window air conditioners were a life saver, as it was in the upper 80’s and HOT when we were there! The cleanliness of the place was disappointing - mostly the inside of the refrigerator, placemats, mattress pads and pillows. We had an issue with the oven and the caretaker John was super responsive. He also got us fresh scallops that were amazing and gave a great recommendation for a fishing charter.

Family vacation for 3 generations

This property is in a wonderful location. You are within walking distance of a grocery store, a place for fresh seafood and produce, shops, ice cream, restaurants, a toy store, farmer's market and more. It's a quick drive to a beach too. The house has three levels that we utilized for our family of 10. It worked out perfectly in that everyone had their own space and bed. The property manager was wonderful when we needed to text him with a problem a couple of times. He responded immediately. Be aware that you need to either bring your own sheets and towels or rent them. There is a washer and dryer to use.

Great family house

My children, spouses and grandchildren shared this lovely family home with me for our two week stay in Wellfleet June2024. The house was clean and the space was great for the 4 families. Bedrooms and a bathroom on each of 3 floors gave each family only a few people sharing each bathroom. Additionally there was a new out door shower the kids used exclusively! There was good off street parking for 3 SUVs, a newly sodded and landscaped back yard. The kitchen had plenty of dinnerware and cooking equipment but more flatware would be appreciated. It was great having 2 refrigerators to store food and drink for 10. The location is great with easy walking to ‘downtown’ Wellfleet, the library and gelato is right across the street! I highly recommend this property.

Fabulous Place for Extended Family Vacation!

This was our second year at this house. Since our children were young, we've rented many Cape houses over the years, but this one is the best. As parents of grown children with children of their own, this house is perfect for us. The house is pretty and comfortable, and there is plenty of space inside. This year, we had beautiful weather, but last year, when we had a rainy week, everyone still had fun doing things in the house. There is also a beautiful deck and landscaped backyard that still has lots of room for children to play in. It is conveniently close to town, which is great for picking up milk and other groceries. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen and dining room are filled with light, and it is fun to cook and eat there or on the deck. Both the owner and the caretaker are incredibly nice and responsive. This house is such a treasure, and we and all the rest of our family hope to go back again next summer.

This is one of the best VRBO experiences. Home is wonderful for a family. Parent and two children on second floor with a really beautiful bathroom. Two private bedrooms on first floor, with a huge open K, LR and dining room and bath. Private separate studio in ground level with laundry private bath and extra space for grandparents. So total of 6 queens. Everything was artistically presented with limited clutter and still everything you needed. More than just starters, they had a huge amount of extras. Tons of nice pans and bowls and kitchen stuff. Games for the kids. Three lovely bathroom showers and an outside one. Back yard was beautiful and private, lovely deck, lovely flowers. Easy walk to town ( 2 doors) and bay, less than a mile. Grocery right there, no need to eat out unless you want. Owner and manager were immediately responsive when I realized I needed to either bring or rent sheets and towels, forgot that was a cape thing. Welcome message was very thorough with lots of great advice. We didn't bother with beach pass since there are a few kettle ponds and bay beach with no charges. I can't say enough about the great treatment by owner and manger. We will definately be back.

Two doctors and five children, we have been coming to Wellfleet for over 20 years. Every time we come, we try to figure out a way to move our practices up here, so that we can live full time here!

When the kids were young, they liked nothing more than jumping off the pier or looking for tadpoles at the ponds. Now that they are older, they are looking for the perfect ride on the ocean surf. We, on the other hand, like nothing better than to sit on the beach with a good book, go bike riding in the National Seashore, or sneak off with a great bottle of wine for a lobster lunch at Moby Dicks.

This house is our refuge and our sanctuary. It has "good vibes" and we treasure our time here.

Why they chose this property

Where else can you find a vacation place that suits everyone from a toddler to a grandparent?!. Furthermore, where can you find a place that has such variety of beaches? The ocean for surfers, boogie boarders and kite fliers, ponds for the young 'uns, and the bay for everyone?

Wellfleet not only has the beaches, which are great, but it has so much else? Theater, art, fantastic restaurants, bike riding, hiking, kayaking, mini-golf, the drive in theater. You can spend weeks here and never do the same thing twice.

What makes this property unique

When we first looked at buying in Wellfleet, we were looking to get a property on the water. Our wise real estate agent, knowing our family of 7, urged us to look in town. Boy do I owe her!

I would not trade the fact that we come to Wellfleet and rarely get into our car for all the sunsets over the beach, (which we can get any time by just walking down to Mayo beach). The kids have the flexibility to roam freely in this small town, and we can walk/bike ride to anywhere we want to go. The only time we are really obligated to be in the car is when we go to the drive-in, a must at least once a season.

When friends come to visit, they are not limited by having to organize their time around cars. A couple can go gallery gazing, while others take their kids to the beach and the "aged P's" walk across the street for glass of wine and people watching at Winslow's Tavern.

I don't know of a better house to accommodate kids, adults and grandfolks....
