Hidden Creek House near Downtown SLO. Family Sized!

This one of a kind home was built by a local Cal Poly Architecture Professor in the 1960's. The home sits over a creek that peacefully flows through out the property year round. The home is hidden into the hillside, and surrounded by trees. This home is ONLY accessible by staircase. From the street level, you must climb 32 steps to reach the home. From the driveway, you must climb 18 steps to reach the home. All bedrooms are upstairs, and there are no ramps or elevators to this home.

Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
The lockbox is on the garage door wall. Your code willl be issued the day of arrival and will be ready by 4PM for check in.
Turn off the heater or AC before leaving, and please put the key back in the box beofre 11AM.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

We spent 3 nights for Christmas. Rainy most of the time. It was a fabulous place to be cooped up in. Stunning architectural masterpiece. The place was spotless. Beds were comfy. We would absolutely rent it again.

Property is a bit dated, but it the best way. You are stepping back in time to highly innovative mid century architectural style. Home is huge, very clean and the kitchen has modern appliance making for a great stay. If our plans bring us back to the area, I will be seeking this place out.

Unique house!

This unique property was very comfortable, peaceful and relaxing. Close to town yet surrounded by nature. Tons of space made it easy to spread out or to be together at the large dining table or the beautiful living room. I love this area and would stay here again!

Architectural treasure

Beautiful, well preserved 1960’s home. Lovely stay! Kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. Great quiet location at a walkable distance to town. Would love to know more about the architect and the building of the house through a write up available to the guests.

Perfect place

Absolutely loved staying here. Host was super helpful and kind. The place it self was massive and had plenty of space. Super clean and cozy. Loved the character the house had and all the windows. Made for all of us getting ready for a wedding perfect. Would love to come back for another weekend getaway.

This property has so much potential! I'm sad to say this was the worst stay ever though! there was a horrible smell, decomposing rodent or something, it was so bad one of our party was sick from the smell and had to stay elsewhere! When we contacted the host, she confirmed that she was aware but thought the smell had dissipated ! one restroom had no toilet paper and the others had a tiny bit...we contacted host, and she said she would send some over...we finally had to go buy some, then finally the morning we checked out at 7:30 am instacart brought some! The place was dusty, spiderwebs, toenail clippings in the bathroom, hair on the linens, and dirty carpet...The host did refund the cleaning fee... this property is wayyy to expensive for what it is at this time!

Words cannot adequately express how special and unique this home is. While the amenities were slightly dated, it added to the charm of the home which felt inherently custom and designed to enjoy the creek which runs underneath the home. When I was checking in, I had some trouble with the lockbox and the host was incredibly responsive and patient with me. The location was wonderful as well, just a short drive from downtown and from Cal Poly as well as even Madonna Inn! We had a lovely stay and will certainly look to stay here again during our next trip.

We enjoyed our stay overall and appreciated that the property was clean, comfortable, and well-located. When we first arrived, we experienced a few maintenance issues with the electricity, but the team handled them promptly and everything was resolved in a timely manner. Our only feedback would be that the communication felt a bit rushed when we first reached out, but in the end, everything was taken care of and we appreciated the quick follow-up.
