Situated in the Belgrade Lakes Region of the Kennebec Highlands, the Lodge sits on 5 wooded acres just across the road from Long Pond. The upper level has the master bedroom, full bathroom & a loft that overlooks the living area. A large wooden wraparound deck & detached 2-car garage complete the package.
Hidden in five acres of trees, up a gravel driveway in the Belgrade Lakes Region of the Kennebec Highlands lies the Chalet, a large two story home. The first floor contains an open kitchen, dining & living area, two bedrooms & a full bathroom with washer & dryer. The upper level has the master bedroom, a full bathroom & loft that overlooks the living area. Outside the middle level a wooden deck wraps around half the house. A detached two-car garage with unfinished loft above completes the package.
The Chalet is fully furnished & can sleep seven people comfortably. Everything one would need is there. Help yourself to pots, pans, silverware, dishes, towels, sheets, pantry, tools, washer & dryer, tennis racquets, kayak & much more.
Oil-fired, hot water, baseboard heaters keep the Chalet warm on chilly days. Air conditioning is not available since summer days are rarely hot & muggy. Got to love Maine’s tolerable summer temperatures, after all, the Chalet is located about 44 degrees north latitude.
The Long Pond boat launch & Castle Island Camps, where one can rent boats, are just a half mile away. Over 30 ponds & lakes are within a 30-minute drive. The Belgrade Lakes Village & Mount Vernon can be reached in less than 10 minutes. Augusta, Waterville & Farmington are within a 30-minute drive as well. Scenic coastal towns such as Camden, Rockland (the Windjammer Capitol of the USA), Rockport, Owls Head & Thomaston are about an hour away. Bath, the City of Ships, can be reached in less than an hour as can Freeport, the home of L.L. Bean & many outlets. Portland & Bangor are a little over an hour drive. The Rangeley Lakes are even closer. The resorts of Sugarloaf & Saddleback are also close by.
They have a saying in Maine… Come for vacation, stay for a lifetime!
The Chalet has three different entrances -- a double-door entrance off the gravel driveway on the lower level & two separate single doors off the wraparound balcony on the middle level. The two-car garage also has a single door entrance.
There are remotes for the garage doors so that you can park one or two cars inside.
You will find separately locked storage areas & equipment in the basement & garage for which keys will be provided for access & enjoyment. Please be careful with the kayak, canoe & our treasured fishing gear.

Nice Quiet Home. Nice large common areas. Host was great to communicate with. Plenty of space for our group of 6. Only thing out of sorts was one of the beds was not assembled when our group arrived and we had to put it together.
Clearly this house was loved at some point but has fallen into terrible disrepair and suffers from lack of maintenance. We arrived to a filthy house, coffee in coffee pot, hair in shower, leaves and debris all over stairs and porch, a HUGE pile of trash (seeping kitchen trash bags) and junk , including dirty men’s underwear, (I kid you not) in garage , dirty grill with puddle of blood under it on porch. At 2AM the bed my daughter was sleeping in collapsed to the floor. On closer inspection it was clear the flimsy bed had broken before and had been Jerry-rigged back together. It was a child’s bed not suited to adults. Initially David was responsive, and offered a second cleaning (but there was no quick fix to dirty and stained carpets). He had a grill delivered to the house but left it to us to assemble it during our vacation. The bedroom I stayed in was partially painted! Someone has started to paint the walls and then given up part way. This was either AI photoshopped out in pictures online or pictures were taken a long time ago. “Help yourself to the kayak and canoe? “Well, not unless you come with your own boat trailer and sign a waiver. Cookware dirty, old and scratched. Table runner in dining area had food smeared on it.All really gross and unacceptable. This house is totally misrepresented and a fraud. Beware!

Our experience with this house was just ok. 1. Outside of the house: The property grounds were terrible. It was over grown, and hadn't been landscaped for at least 2 years. Very neglected. There was an old wooden platform that was completely rotted, outside the front door and should've been removed a long time ago. There were some Poison Sumac plants growing in front of the left side garage door. We removed them to get safe access to that side of the garage. 2. The Inside of the house: a) First thing we noticed was that there was no hot-water. I completed a Furnace burner reset, and a primary furnace reset, and we were able to get it running the next morning. b) Mouse droppings all over the kitchen. c) Carpenter ants in the kitchen. d) Hair in the bathtub. e) Drain upstairs causing back up in the bathtub. f) The refrigerator was filthy. g) Carpets were poorly vacuumed, and stained. h) Someone's used eye contacts were found in the carpet in one of the upstairs bedrooms. i) Previous guest garbage was in the garage. j) TV didn't work (Remote batteries maybe). k) Musty smell from the basement in the house and the 1st floor bedrooms. l) Lightbulbs out in several lamps. m) Nasty baseboard heater covered with urine rust spots all over it. n) All the beds were terrible and very uncomfortable. The mattress I slept on was at least 2 decades old, nothing but coils. o) The floors dirty. For the amount of we paid, not worth it.
