SANFORD, Florida – During a radio interview this morning, Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr took a moment to praise Sanford, Florida residents who had helped him with a mechanical issue with his rental car as he passed through the city recently:

“We were just leaving the city limits of Sanford, Florida when the damn car overheated or something so I pulled it over to the side of the road and within just a minute or two there were a couple of cars that pulled over to help me out. I told them that I was on the phone with the rental car company but one of them had a brother who owned a tow truck and a few minutes later it was there and he towed it to a place nearby to get fixed.

So then the one guy finds out that I’m not from there and offers to take me in to get lunch while my car is getting fixed and I’m thinking, ‘Sure, what the hell.’ So we drove to probably the finest dining spot in Sanford – some place called Christo’s – and got a burger. Great freakin’ burger too. These guys had no idea who I was either which made my day, honestly. I’m telling you, these people in Sanford are the real deal. I’m going to move there after I retire,” Downey Jr said with a laugh.

Downey Jr added later, “You have to understand, this is something that would’ve never happened in L.A.! So yeah, that’s my story about Sanford, Florida. It’s nice to know there are still places like this in America.

The host, Dana, was most welcoming and accommodating, as we had to extend our stay twice. The house was warm, inviting, comfortable and the best equipped Vrbo we have stayed at. The overall feel of this place was Southern Charm. Warm and welcoming. Beautifully decorated. Our whole family spent a lot of time on the back porch listening to the birds enjoying each other's company.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR FLORIDA VACATION SO MEMORABLE!!

Our family stayed in this lovely home for two weeks while we toured universities, visited family, and my son and my niece’s daughter got baptized on Daytona Beach. I could not rave on it more ... it was outstanding in every way. The location was perfect -- close to Orlando airport where we flew in, Disney, Universal studios, Nascar and the beaches. The home was well-stocked and has everything you need to have an awesome stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The accommodations were excellent!! Maximum privacy. Very peaceful. Beds were super comfy. The home was very spacious, exceptionally clean and BEAUTIFULLY designed. The owner was amazingly thoughtful. Dana was very responsive to inquiries and provided enough info for us to feel secure in our stay. It was above and beyond what we would expect from a vacation rental. A dream house ... I wanted to cry having to leave it! We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this home to anyone who is visiting!!

Amazingly comfortable home

I booked this property to serve as our base camp, as my older son was getting married at a nearby venue that weekend. This house is PERFECT if you need to comfortably stay for any event in the area. The furniture is superbly comfortable - my oldest son kept asking me if he thought the house was for sale, because he loved it so much. The kitchen is well-appointed. We also had our younger daughter with us (age 8) and she loved having outdoor space to run around and swing. There's ample parking, if you have more than one vehicle. We had 4 adults and one child - we were wonderfully comfortable and all had plenty of space and privacy. Communication was first-rate. I'm also a Vrbo Host, and I highly recommend this property if you need a roomy, elegantly appointed home for a nearby event. We were all able to get dressed for the wedding with plenty of room. *You're 20-30 minutes from everything, yet are quietly tucked in the country. The property is exactly as described, and more. Big tv's and Starlink. Cookbooks. Art. Luxurious linens and toiletries. This property is impeccably managed. Do not hesitate to book.

We felt like we were home the kids really enjoyed their selfs running around that big yard we celebrated our 4th if July their and it was just a perfect place . Photos Don't Do It Justice

What a lovely property! We love the Sanford area and always thought it would be fun to share our preferred adventures there with a few of our closest friends so I rented this house for my husband's birthday weekend and invited three couples as our guests. The home was incredibly spacious and very well equipped in the kitchen. It was also remote from other properties so an evening in with a taco bar, margaritas and "Cards Against Humanity" had no noise limitations. We were very comfortable in the large master suite and enjoyed the oversized jacuzzi tub. The property is pet-friendly which was an added bonus. We highly recommend this property and visiting the Sanford area to enjoy Blue Springs, boating on the river and the excellent downtown restaurants like Hollerbach's. If your life is fast-paced, this is a wonderful break to a slow things down for a bit. Thank you to Dana for her wonderful hospitality.

Wow...what a quiet and awesome place. Secluded and off the busy highways and byways. Must stay here

This home is hard to describe because it so beautiful. The outside is plain but the interior is unbelievable. Antiques and decor galore with plenty of everything; we hung out most of the time on the huge outside covered porches....lots of them. Central to Sanford area for everything and great restaurants abound all around. We visited this town for the first time with other family members for a college graduation and everyone loved the place. Highly recommend and will stay there next vist as well. Great owner with pride in her lovely home we were glad to experience it.

Comfortable Economic Clean Convenient

This home was wonderfully relaxing after a day of work at a conference for our group of female professionals. We each had ample, well designed and very clean space to ourselves, as well as comfortable spots to come together inside and outside the home to decompress and discuss. This was the perfect solution for us--economical, clean, comfortable and convenient to our downtown Orlando (20-30 minute morning drive) meeting.

Beautiful home and so spacious.

We loved staying in this roomy home. It was perfect for our family to attend the wedding. We cooked in the kitchen equipped for what we wanted to do and sat on the back porch in the wicker furniture for late afternoon tea and beverage. The town of Sanford and the airport are convenient to the home also. A beautiful and comfortable as well. I highly recommend the Bedford home.

Great location, space, and privacy!

Dana's home was perfect for our friends and family who joined us in Sanford for our wedding April 2nd! We enjoyed the peaceful setting and spacious rooms and outdoors. We enjoyed all meals here during our stay with the fully equipped kitchen and outdoor gas grill. The in law suite on the other side of the garage was perfect for my mom and grandma, so they were not disturbed by us and our friends and family who enjoyed ourselves on the screened patio late into the night before and after our wedding. I would say the only thing missing is a fire pit! We plan to come back when we come back to visit family in Sanford. Thank you Dana for sharing your beautiful home!

Beautiful home on an amazing piece of property!

We stayed here for 5 weeks while our home was under renovation and it felt like a mini vacation. The home is gorgeous and it is situated on a large lot of land which makes you feel like you are in the country yet you are so close to everything you need! There is a 4th bedroom off the garage that is a master suite so perfect privacy for other guests and the other three bedrooms are upstairs so our family was close together (we have three kids under the age of 3). This place is a must stay. Will definitely rent again for our family when they visit us after our house is done being remodeled. Thank you Dana!!

Well-appointed Victorian house on amble acreage.

We absolutely loved staying in this beautiful home for six days. Everything you could need is provided for you and the owner was very helpful and understanding. We came for my son's wedding and were able to accommodate a rehearsal dinner on the lovely screened porch All who visited the home were very impressed by it. We spent several very quiet nights hosting small family cook-outs using the grill in the lovely backyard which was very serene and peaceful. All the rooms were beautifully furnished and comfortable. We enjoyed ourselves so much we plan to return when it is non-wedding time and enjoy a quiet get-away that this place offers. We highly recommend this fabulous home to anyone seeking a retreat.

I have lived in the house for over 30 years now. Loved every minute of it. You will too. I grew up in the Orlando area most of my life. I love the area, I guess that's why I am still here. I am not ready to let go of the house just yet. So, I thought I would let other people enjoy it as much as I have. I do live close by if you should need any thing a phone call away. I am about 15 minutes away.

Why they chose this property

It has such a peaceful feel here. Everyone that comes here says the same thing. I love the feel of this house. The wrap around porch, and the quiet surroundings it is just delightful. Like I said, it seems like you are far away, but close to every thing. You can go either direction and be at the beach or antique shopping, restaurants, malls, cinema's, golf, what ever your heart desires. You're going to love it!
