About this property
Arnolds Park - prime location - walk everywhere - Historic 1940's cottage.
Arnold, as we call him, is a perfect location if you want to be in the center of all the action. We love Arnold because you can park your car and walk. This includes historical Arnolds Amusement Park (.8 miles); Preservation Plaza for live music and Wednesday night family movies (.6 miles), numerous restaurants (.3-.6 miles), beach, (.3-.6 miles) and lake access to both West and East Okoboji (.5 miles). Arnold is located right off of Hwy 71 and is a block from West Lake Okoboji. Our location is perfect for families, couples and groups of friends. The extensive Dickinson County Trail System is literally steps from our front door. If you bring your bike(s), we can provide you access to the locked garage.
Arnold was built in 1940 by Harry Tennet, the owner of the historic Harry's taxidermy and oddity shop, which is now Jensen Real Estate (next door). Please note that with all the historic charm of 1940, also comes the compact living size, block basement and an occasional spiderweb.
Please note that we do not approve of taping or hanging anything from a wall, doorway or window. Previous renters have done this and paint has been damaged. So, we are cautious of approving bachelorette parties and birthday parties. If you plan to hang decorations, you should look for a different rental property for your party.

About the host
Hosted by Sandra Norby

We are native Iowans and moved to Arnolds Park in 2015. Arnold was our home until August of 2023. We love staying in Vrbo's when we travel, so decided to offer our home to people who want to enjoy all that we offer in the Iowa Great Lakes.
Why they chose this property
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!! Arnold is central and walkable to the attractions at the Historic Arnolds Park. Live music scene is vibrant and also .3 to .8 mile from our home. Numerous restaurants, coffee shops, bars and the famous Nutty Bar all a short walk away as well. If you want to rent a boat, Okoboji Boats is a short .8 miles away. The amazing Dickinson County Trails system is accessible, literally steps from the front door.
Our neighborhood is a mixture of permanent residents; second home residents and short term rentals.
Arnold has had few owners over the years. We purchased him after a cute renovation. With all it's charms, Arnold is a traditional 1940's cottage. Sq. footage is 750 sq. ft main level. Basement is original and the third bedroom is non-conforming. Interesting door opening sizes has us using a curtain for one entry to the basement half bath.

What makes this property unique
LOCATION and charm. Friends have commented how cozy Arnold is to visit. Even though we are on Hwy 71, we rarely hear road noise with the windows closed. Traditional small 1940's cottage. If you don't like everything that comes with an old house, this may not be the rental for you. Even though Arnold is on a hill, a block from West Lake, the ground holds a lot of water. We keep dehumidifiers running to keep the basement dry.
