About this property

Bright, spacious, historic home in downtown Viroqua.

A bright, clean, and spacious place of respite awaits you at the Guesthouse. 4 bedrooms with comfortable beds and natural linens, newly remodeled bathrooms, rooms filled with bespoke vintage and local art, and wild pollinator gardens on all sides make the Guesthouse the ideal place for the thoughtful traveler who shares our appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

The Guesthouse is a culmination of over a decade of both hosting and guesting, and was created to be the ideal home away from home we have found ourselves wishing for countless times as guests.

We have intended by design for the guesthouse to be a place to fully relax and unplug, prioritizing minimal technologies and amenities that foster connection over televisions or gaming systems. You'll enjoy an experience of authentic vintage, Viroqua simple living, with ample porch space to enjoy your morning coffee or set up a game with a loved one.

Our 4 second-floor bedrooms have the ability to sleep 7 all together via king, queen, full, and twin beds.

1. The master bedroom has a king size bed, dresser, and full closet.

2. Bedroom two has a full size bed and closet space.

3. Bedroom three features a cozy twin bed (and amazing view of the Cheese Corner).

4. The beautiful back porch bedroom, also known as the "Treehouse" has panorama window-walls on 3 sides overlooking the backyard. This room has both a queen bed and a futon that can be made up by request. This room is seasonal, as it's separated from the HVAC system and is colder in the winter and warmer in the summer than the other rooms. But if you prefer particularly cool or warm sleeping, this is where you’ll want to sleep depending on the season!

There are two full baths - one on each floor, a kitchen with everything you need to cook basic meals during your stay, living area, and indoor back porch for lounging.

Right around the corner, you can enjoy all the amenities provided by our vibrant downtown. Take a 60 second walk around the block and you can enjoy a farm-to-table breakfast with the best coffee around, browse the Farmer's Market for local treats and Amish goodies, pop into our impressive local library, or stroll the main drag of local shops and restaurants. There are lovely paths for walking in natural places a ten minute's walk or short drive away. After you book, be sure to check out all our top recommendations in our guest guide!

Notes:

- We do not provide personal toiletries, so be sure to bring your own!

- For those with certain sensitivities, we use natural cleaning products in the house for our regular turns and provide natural-fiber linens, including cotton quilts and down duvets.

- Though we do have highspeed internet, there is not a television or other digital entertainment options in the house. Be sure to bring a personal computer if you want to relax with some quality Netflix time during your stay!

- There is not laundry on site, and all of our dishes are handwash only.

About the host

Host profile image
We are a mother-daughter hosting team from the rural Midwest. Hospitality is something we grew up living and breathing, and as artists, creating a beautiful space for others to enjoy is second nature. We've put a ton of love and care into the smallest details of the guesthouse, which is our only rental property. You can be sure that you and the space get 100% of our attention every time!

Why they chose this property

As far as small-town locations go, this is about the best you could ask for in terms of accessibility to the town's amenities. Everything is nearby in a small town, but at the guesthouse, it's even nearer!

What makes this property unique

To be frank - stale, generic rentals with cheap, breakable amenities, uncomfortable beds and linens, and nothing that makes the space cozy are our absolute pet peeves as travelers. We created the guesthouse based on what our dream space would be as guests, as well as what we would want a home that we were actually going to live in to be like. Simply because, we want you to feel at home! We made this place for our fellow weird artist travelers, for the folks who revel in the small simple things, for all of you for whom the feel of a place is more important than the high tech amenities it offers. We ourselves live very simply, prioritizing connection, beauty, and honoring the weird, so we hope to share a bit of that with you in this space.

Queer, Trans, Immigrant, BIPOC guests / families very welcome here!
