Description: A beloved summer lakefront cottage compound on Paw Paw Lake for over five generations, this lovely and versatile property is available when the family is not in residence. Located at the end of Bowes Landing, where the lawns create a beautiful park-like setting between the cottages and the lake, the compound faces west with panoramic views of the entire lake. The large front deck on the Main Cottage is perfect for reading, sunbathing, family meals. and watching dramatic sunsets. The sandy bottom lake, with private pier, makes for enjoyable swimming. Children love this summer cottage!

Accommodations: Main cottage faces the Lake: 2 bedrooms + 2 baths; guest house, just behind: 1 bedroom; loft with 2 sleeping areas; additional main floor sleeping area; 1 full bathroom. Compound sleeps 10 comfortably. Main cottage has central air and a fireplace. guest house has window air. Compound layout works well for large, extended or multi-family use.

Coordinates: Paw Paw Lake is the largest inland lake in Southwest Michigan. It is 90 minutes from Chicago and 2 hours from Detroit, 15 minutes east of Lake Michigan, 20 minutes from St. Joe - known for its shops, summer music and arts festivals, 30 minutes from the wonderful art/antique villages of Saugatuck and Douglass. Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana is 50 minutes away. Southwest Michigan is becoming known as a fabulous all-season get away destination.

Activities: Several excellent 18-hole golf courses (including the PGA sanctioned Harbor Shores, a Nicklaus signature course, as well as the local Paw Paw Lake golf course) and tennis facilities are nearby. In addition to a local water park, there is kayaking, sailing, canoeing, swimming, waterskiing, biking, fishing, horseback riding, windsurfing, jet skiing. Area marinas handle boat rentals. A number of award-winning vineyards are open for touring, and antiquing abounds. A wide variety of restaurants and cinemas are close by, as is the new Four Winds Hartford casino. Summer days are filled with fun. Fall weekends are filled with gorgeous colors, exploring and relaxation.

Great Time Away

The property was very well kept and the perfect fit for our family. Sunsets were beautiful! The property manager Tina was very responsive and helpful as well. Would stay here again.

Labor day weekend fun

We had a great Weekend. The house and guest house were perfect. The dock was great for our pontoon boat, fishing and swimming. The view of the lake was wonderful and we saw some great sunsets from the front deck....which was huge. Kitchen had every thing we needed for preparing meals. We had 8 adults and 2 children and never felt crowded at all. This is a wonderful place for getting together with friends and family.

We are part of a large family that has enjoyed this cottage on Paw Paw Lake for over five generations.

Why they chose this property

Our great-grandfather chose this spot because it is a beautiful place to live - with a stunning view of the lake and gorgeous sunsets that I imagine are the same today as they were 100 years ago. Paw Paw Lake is convenient to many locations: Chicago, Valparaiso, South Bend, Kalamazoo, Detroit to name a few. In addition to relaxing by the lake, there is so much to do on the lake and in the surrounding towns, that people come back year after year.

What makes this property unique

We love to have coffee on the porch in the morning, and watch the lake. Some of us are always cooking for a crowd. Others are watching the kids play. Others are off for a run, tennis, golf or kayaking. We love the sunsets. We love the local movie theaters. We love the weekly $1.00 hamburger nights at the local Board of Trade restaurant or pizza at our favorite Di Maggio's.
