Rustic family vacation home invites relaxation in redwood paneled house with large wrap around decks and separate sleeping cabin. A retreat for 2 generations of our family is now available to you and yours. Sunny and sheltered, this property offers the ideal combination of traits desired for the ultimate Inverness vacation. In the main house enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms and bath with shower. Relax in the main house living room with a fire in the woodstove. Need room to sleep more people or want to spread out your group? Separate sleeping cabin sleeps 3 more people and has a half bath. Decks extend the living from inside to out with large common areas and private get away spaces. A large, flat yard invites you to play.

Nearby area amenities include easy Tomales Bay swimming beach access (dogs allowed), kayak rental and boat launch. Hike from the house to many trails offering views of Tomales Bay and Pt. Reyes. The beaches of Pt. Reyes, the Pt. Reyes Lighthouse, Drakes Beach, Tomales Bay State Park and all of the Pt. Reyes National Seashore are just a short drive away. Truly a magical place you will want to return to over and over again.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Make sure that all lights and heaters are off. If you had a fire in the main house woodstove, please close the flue to put your fire out.
Shake the sand off any beach towels used and place all towels used during your visit on the counter next to washer. Guests who brought dogs must pick up and dispose of all dog waste on the property.
Slide locks into place in living room sliding door. Make sure the cabin is locked. Exit through kitchen and lock using padlock. Leave keys in the outside key lock box and jumble the combination.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
groups must not be on outside deck or yard after 9:00 pm Sunday-Thursday or 11:00 pm Friday & Saturday

Very welcoming host. The location was perfect and neighborhood quiet and calm. The wood stove was wonderful to have for the chilly evenings. Large dog friendly space for our Maligators to run was fantastic. We hosted a cozy Thanksgiving dinner for five people. The kitchen especially the brand new oven worked perfectly for our 20lb turkey. The location was great, close to everything but away from any crowds. We explored Tomales Bay and the National Seashore. And we saw a lot of Tule elk. Such a relaxing time.

Cosy rustic retreat

We loved our stay here! Very quiet and cozy with lots of outdoor space to hang out. We were two couples and a dog and it worked out just perfectly for us. The kitchen is small but well-stocked, so we were able to cook dinners and just hang out. We would definitely come back!

Family Getaway

We had an easy and relaxing stay at the property -- all was as advertised and the property owner's communications were clear and timely. We used it as a base for a beach day, a festival day, and a lay-around-the-place and read and relax day -- the hammock was a highlight! The main house and separate sleeping cabin gave off a "summer camp" feel that made us right at home. Weather was perfect so we did not need the wood stove, but looked cozy. We had exactly the family weekend getaway we wanted.

Great place for a family to hang out while in the area. Isolated, so lots of wildlife visiting. Massive deck space to spread out. Kitchen has everything but is really for one person at a time. I would return.

Quiet retreat

A bit funky, but clean, comfortable and very quiet and peaceful. Surrounded by lovely greenery and centrally located. Many family pictures reflected the loving times they have enjoyed there, adding to the charm for us. This was our second stay and won't be our last.

Sweet Stay

Beautiful little spot to stay while we were in town for an autumn wedding. We loved having tea on the porch, and going on walks around the neighborhood. The house is quaint and adorable.

Wonderful cozy house

We loved our stay. It is a family summer cabin that shows it has been loved for years and years. Staying there made me feel almost as if I was part of the family. It is very private and we loved hanging out in the cozy living room and on the sunny decks.

Gorgeous getaway

We (two families with children) happily returned to this amazing cabin in the woods to rest amidst the peace and natural beauty that this property offers. The extra sleeping cabin is beloved by our kids and we can't get enough of all the rustic touches and easy comfort of this long-time family retreat. The owner is easy to reach and very helpful, and the property comes very clean and fully equipped. We can't speak highly enough about this place!

I grew up spending weekends and summers in this house, retreating from the urban demands of San Francisco. I have had the chance to raise my own children in this timeless place. Inverness remains a magical place that I hope will always be a place where I can retreat and unwind.

Why they chose this property

This is a second generation family vacation cabin. With all the fabulous memories and the continued attraction to the area, we want to keep this treasure in the family.

What makes this property unique

Staying at this house has always meant a slower pace of life. There is deliberately no TV or internet at the house. There are book, board games and sports equipment. It is truly a place to take a time out from the fast pace and constant accessibility of our lives today. TV and internet are available nearby but the need to be intentional about accessing them keeps me honest about truly being on vacation. Tennis courts and Tomales Bay are within 2 blocks of the house. Foot paths in the area provide easy access to all of Inverness. Nearby hiking trails and fire roads offer even more choices for encounters with nature and spectacular vistas.
