One of our visitors had this to say about the Enchanted Cottage: “The house is nice but you honestly don't spend much time in it. The dock and porches are fantastic. The use of the boat is great for driving out to a cove and swimming or finding the rope swing.”



We feel the same way!



Our large screened porch with two ceiling fans is perfect for rocking, dining, playing games, napping, or listening to music (and it’s big enough for everyone). The outdoor fire pit is a great spot for enjoying making S’mores and telling tall tales. And be sure to head out to the top of the boat house for some incredible star gazing!



Getting Around:

The property is best accessed by car. Local hikes, restaurants, and shops are all within a 10–12 minute drive.

The perfect lake front stay

Wonderful Family Gathering

My wife as well as her three children and two of their spouses. Three of our grandchildren had a wonderful time together. I really enjoyed taking out the pontoon boat really wish we could’ve stayed longer!

Wonderful Time!!

The Enchanted Cottage is beautiful! Our family had a wonderful time, lots of fun and fantastic memories. Kayaking, canoeing and daily boat rides were so fun and relaxing. We got lots of exercise, too, just hiking to/from the house and boathouse! The views are stunning. The teens had the entire bottom floor to themselves and it was perfect. We highly recommend it and would definitely would go back!!

40th Birthday Celebration!

Spent the 4th of July holiday with friends celebrating my wife's 40th birthday! Could not have asked for a more beautiful location or property to celebrate this milestone birthday. Bruce was a fantastic host! Will absolutely be back in the future.

Relaxing Stay

A nice place to stay for a getaway to the lake. The beds were very comfortable, a GREAT night of sleep. The views are wonderful. Bruce and Harold were both Friendly and Professional every time that I spoke with them. The pontoon boat was just what we needed for a perfect stay at the lake. The steps will get you if the Trolley isn't working. Overall a great stay at a fair price. Gave it 4 stars because the Trolley wasn't working but I was informed of this before my stay.

Wonderful

We had the most fantastic family stay in the enchanted cottage at Lake Lure. We loved everything about our experience and it was the perfect venue for a relaxing trip to the lake with our two young children. We loved waking up to the incredible view, eating breakfast and playing games on the porch, swimming in the lake, canoeing, paddle boarding, hiking, boating... it was all wonderful The house is perfectly appointed and clean. The beds were very comfortable, the AC kept us cool during an extremely hot week, and the views were spectacular. The kitchen had everything we wanted/needed to cook family meals. The kids loved the lower level foosball table and used that space as a play area. The funicular is definitely useful- there are a lot of stairs, but again we felt it was all part of the adventure and had a fun experience the whole time. We also appreciated being able to rent the boat directly through this property. It could not have been easier, and we had a great time exploring the lake and swimming with the kids. Wonderful property and one of our favorite rentals. We felt lucky to have been able to stay at the Enchanted Cottage. Thank you!

Family vacation at Lake Lure

Our family of five (adults with kids/young adults ages 15, 18, 21) had a great time at the Enchanted Cottage. The property is beautiful and suited for everyone with access to a pontoon boat, kayaks, and SUPs. The screened in porch was perfect for mornings and evening together and the younger members in our group enjoyed the lower level after we retired for the evening. We loved taking the boat out to find places to swim and relax, and enjoyed baking day trips to surrounding places. We went rafting, zip lining, glass blowing in Asheville, and explored Grand Father Mountain--so much to see and do! The only snafu with our trip was related to the recent change in property management--we did not receive the communications about this and were left in a bit of a black hole for a few weeks while attempting to communicate with the previous owner/manager, but after doing some investigation on my own was able to connect with the new company and they were great. Rest assured that your reservation is secure if you made it with the previous owner/manager and are having trouble connecting. I only wish they had been a bit more proactive in preventing this pre-vacation stress. Otherwise, it was a beautiful property and great vacation, and no complaints at all with the new company who was gracious and responsive after finally connecting!

Great location

Perfect location and view! My only complaint is it could be a little cleaner. It was very dusty and had a few spider encounters inside the home. Host was very responsive. Loved spending time on the screened in patio.

Incredible place!

Oh the views....magical! Loved the Enchanted Cottage and all it had to offer. Having a boat was def nice! Kids used the downstairs area which gave my wife and I space and some quiet time upstairs. Views from everywhere were incredible. Quiet and private but still close to CR and the store. And we saw a bear two houses down while cruising on the boat! Really nothing to complain about besides some bug bites. Def recommend!

Great Lake trip with the family!

Everything was great! We had my family of 7 and everything was just perfect except for the weather. We got a lot of rain. Regardless, the property was great and we had a great time! Highly recommend this place and Bruce was great and easy to contact. Would definitely book again!

Lake Lure view was perfect

Property was in a terrific location. Rooms were fine and clean. Bathrooms were adequate. Kitchen was well appointed with very nice dishes and glassware. We lived on the screened in porch and loved it. We enjoyed S’mores on the fire pit and use of the grill in a lovely setting. The boat was a great option for seeing the lake and waterfront homes. We also enjoyed going out to eat via boat. The boat could have been cleaner, cup holders were gross. The sun deck was under construction but would have been delightful. The tram was important for 6, 60+ people, one of which had recently had a hip replacement, unfortunately it broke a few days into our stay. The host was nice and tried to accommodate us as best as he could.

Winter Cottage Retreat

We had such a beautiful stay at the cottage. Lake Lure is so serene in the cooler months and the view never disappoints. Bruce was an amazing host. Everything was just perfect. So many areas for everyone to have their own space while the fireplace crackled. He even left the canoe out so we could take dusk and dawn trips around the lake-it was beautiful! Mornings on the porch with coffee, late day red wine by the campfire-and plenty of blankets and comfy beds to snuggle up.Just what my overwhelmed city soul needed. Thank you Bruce..We will try to make back in the summer to try on that pontoon boat :)Great experience!

We had a wonderful time! The house was great and we had a great time on the lake. Loved the use of the boat! I would recommend adding a can opener to the kitchen and another pot.

Beautiful porch views

Our family had the most wonderful time at the Enchanted Cottage. We had plenty of room to spread out in the house and the large kitchen table fit our group just perfect without feeling overcrowded. We had made delicious meals together. We spent a lot of time on the porch watching afternoon storms roll in and sipping coffee in the morning. We worked on a 1000 piece puzzle at the porch table during the week and finished late Friday night. A tradition of ours. Having access to the pontoon boat was such a treat and we toured the lake with our adult children and grandkids. We enjoyed after dinner boat rides to watch the sun set. Just gorgeous views. We used the kayaks and balance board and kayaks and spent a-lot of time just swimming and jumping off the lower deck. We brought fishing poles and caught sunnies. The house was very comfortable and well stocked with everything you need in the kitchen. We just brought food and drinks. Some places we rented, you needed to bring everything including your own sheets and towels! Not here, bedding and towels and paper goods were all provided. The beds were very comfortable. Bruce was very responsive to any questions and texted or emailed you right back. Very organized. We had the most wonderful experience and created many memories. Loved loved our stay here.

Breathtaking Vacation Destination

Lake Lure is absolutely breathtaking. The warm water. The wooded mountains rising dramatically from the water's edge. The gorgeous sunsets. The peace and tranquility. And the enchanted cottage is a perfect place from which to take it all in. The cottage is perhaps a bit smaller and less grandiose than a number of other rentals on the lake but the included boat, the convenient funicular and the location make it a great value. We were unpacked and on the water within 45 minutes of arriving. The cottage was comfortable for our family of 6 and we had a great time.

Easy Peasy w/ its own "train"!

Let's see: where to start? Your first experience when you arrive is riding a funicular, which seats four comfortably. Kids love it. You arrive @ the fire pit and the lake is a little ways below. The house is older, but who cares? Very well equipped & functional kitchen; in fact, everything works well. This was our 7th year @ Lake Lure in 6 different houses and Enchanted Cottage was probably the most fun. Hard to say why some houses have a "vibe" & some houses leave you cold. This one was perfect!
