Welcome to Muskwaki Pines, a hidden sanctuary in one of the South Shore’s best-kept secret neighborhoods. Situated in a remarkably quiet and peaceful residential enclave, this retreat is nestled in its own grassy meadow and framed by towering pines and golden aspens.
The layout offers a rare level of Tahoe privacy; while you are part of a welcoming community, the property is uniquely positioned with only one neighbor within shouting distance. Here, the morning alarm is the sound of the birds in the trees, not the hum of traffic.
The "15-Minute" Hub: Proximity Without the Noise
While Muskwaki Pines feels like a secluded wilderness retreat, you are strategically located just 15 minutes from the very best of Lake Tahoe.
The Shoreline: The crystal-clear waters and pristine sandy beaches of Lake Tahoe are only 15 minutes away. Whether you're looking to sunbathe at Pope Beach or launch a kayak into the turquoise shallows, the lake is at your fingertips.
World-Class Skiing: Shred the slopes at Heavenly Mountain Resort (15 mins), or take a short drive to Sierra-at-Tahoe (20 mins) and Kirkwood (30 mins). You are perfectly positioned to chase the best snow conditions in the basin.
Nightlife & Entertainment: When the sun goes down, the world-class Casinos and nightlife of Stateline are only 15 minutes away. Enjoy fine dining, live concerts, and gaming, then retreat back to the total silence of your mountain meadow.
Immersed in Nature
A View from Every Room: You don’t have to step outside to enjoy the scenery. The home is wrapped in large picture windows that frame the meadow, forest, and mountain peaks, letting you watch for Tahoe’s wildlife—including bears, coyotes, and migratory birds—from the comfort of the sofa.
The Scenic Stroll: Leave the car keys behind. An easy 10-minute walk through the pines leads you directly to the expansive meadows and the banks of the Upper Truckee River.
Outdoor Adventure: Pedal directly from the property to legendary mountain bike tracks like Powerline, Saxon Creek, Fountain Place, Hawley Grade, and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
This is truly a kayaker's paradise—from the river currents to the alpine lakes.

More private than others near the location I wanted, Dogs enjoyed fenced in yard. Location was great everything I wanted to visit was within 30 minutes. Beds were soft for my back, but 5 stars all around!Great communication, space, and location. Experience could not have been easier. Great Stay!
This was a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing stay. My husband, who is from Montana, kept looking out the windows and saying it reminds him of his home there. Neal gave me a suggestion as to where to go fishing. Went on a lovely drive to the location, caught two rainbows I released and caught a dozen crawdads, also released, but, what fun. Have never caught crawdads before! Also, our two dogs were in heaven. They had fun trying to play with the squirrels and rabbits plus the adventures in the woods. This place was a haven for us and our dogs. Thank you Susan and Nesl
5/5 Stars – Absolutely Fantastic Stay!We had an incredible time at this property and cannot recommend it enough. Perfect for Pets: The fully fenced-in yard was wonderful and gave us total peace of mind. The hot tub was an extra perk that we enjoyed every single evening. Spotless & Stocked: The house was clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed.Great Host: Communication was seamless from check-in to check-out.We will absolutely stay here again on our next trip!
We had a very comfortable stay. The location is very nice as it is in a quiet residential neighborhood but close enough to the lake and shops. The fenced back yard was great for our dog.

As a pet-friendly property, we maintain strict cleaning standards. Immediately after the guest notified us of the pet hair under the loveseat, we offered to send housekeeping back to resolve this at her earliest convenience. She never responded regarding this issue. Our boots-on-the-ground team was in constant communication to answer her
numerous questions throughout her stay, A comprehensive welcome guide is provided via email before check-in and a hard copy is in the property to help guests navigate the property. We always encourage open communication during the stay so we can ensure our guests are completely comfortable.
Our family had a wonderful stay at this Tahoe home. We brought our 5-year-old Lab with us and were very pleased that the backyard was fully fenced, which allowed our dog to safely play and enjoy the space. For a pet-friendly property, we were also very impressed with how clean and well-maintained the house was. The home had everything we needed, including pots, pans, dishes, and all the amenities that made our stay comfortable. The large washer and dryer were especially helpful after our visits to the lake.Overall, this was a great home for our family and our dog, and we really enjoyed our stay. The host was very responsive within minutes answering couple of questions I had. Thank you for the wonderful experience and pleasant stay.
Host was very welcoming. Let us know about a big storm coming which helped us be prepared.

With 40 plus years of living through Tahoe winters, we understand the challenges that winter weather can present. We try to keep our guests informed from the personal "been there, done that" perspective, so they can be better prepared. The home has been outfitted to withstand power outages or other emergencies.
The house was perfect for our girls trip. The only downside was all the dog hair that was on our clothes through out our stay. We were constantly having to use a lint roller. My friend at one point had dog hair in her mouth. Besides that the house, location , and amenities

If issues are not reported when they arise, they cannot be addressed in a timely manner. Housekeeping would have been dispatched to eliminate the dog hair. This particular incident will be brought to their attention, so that there is no repeat.
The cabin was amazing for me and my friends for a quick little skiing/snowboard trip. We had to wash the bed sheets be more time before we slept the first night as we noticed some fur and hair. Another than that the stay was amazing!

The previous guest blatantly did not adhere to the house rules regarding pets. This inconvenienced everyone including housekeeping, the next guests, and the guest who chose not to comply. We do not charge a pet fee, but we will deduct from the security deposit for any excessive cleaning required.
The house met all our needs, description is accurate. The place is homey and the enclosed yard is great for dogs. We enjoyed the nearby trails. The owners are super communicative and readily available.
Sue was excellent and super attentive host. We stay in cabins in South Lake Tahoe twice a year for over a decade. The house was perfect and had all the amenities we needed for a week's stay. The beds were comfy, the kitchen was well-stocked, and the location was very peaceful. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this house if you want peace and quiet but still be close to the downtown life. We plan to stay here again in the future!
Had a wonderful stay here with our 6 week old daughter and our dog. It’s a lovely country setting with a nice deck/yard and beautiful trees visible out of the kitchen, dining and living room windows. Easy drive into town and to the lake, relaxing hot tub and good kitchen for making meals as well. Would stay here again!
We had a great time at this home! It was in a great location that was close to town and the perfect size for our family. The check in process was nice as well. We could’ve used more fans in the back bedrooms but other than that it was great!
Spent a wonderful holiday with family at this wonderful Tahoe VRBO. Sue was a great host and was very communicative. She reached out with opportunities to extend our stay, and we wish we could have taken her up on her offer. The place had everything we needed, from the kitchen to the hot tub. It is also pet friendly and the neighborhood was quiet and had nearby trails so we could get the dogs some exercise. We would definitely recommend this place and would love to stay here again. Also the best feature is the wood burning fireplace. It kept the entire house warm and cozy!
The hot tub was great. It was nice to have a fenced back yard.

Lake Tahoe is a special place. We have lived in Tahoe for over 40 years. Once you plant you feet you never want to leave. Max and Riley, our dogs, loved to go to the Upper Truckee River and splash in the water. As scuba divers, we have explored all around the shores of the lake. As boaters, we enjoy our outings in the summer and fall on the big blue.
Why they chose this property
Anytime of year is paradise here. This area is one of South Lake Tahoe's best kept secrets. It is off the beaten path with open space and fewer homes than most areas. The property is bordered by meadow and forest on 3 sides. The natural world is at your fingertips. The Upper Truckee River meadowland is a 10-minute walk out the front door. You can hop on your bike and hit world-class mountain bike trails in minutes.
What makes this property unique
Private setting, Fresh Mountain Air, tall pines and a beautiful lake. The river and flower studded meadow is a short walk from the front door. Wildlife cruises right through the property.
