About the host
Hosted by Heath Schechinger
I’m originally from Iowa and attended Iowa State University. I now work as a psychologist and genuinely enjoy helping people feel safe, supported, and comfortable—values I try to bring into hosting as well. I’ve always loved the sense of community here, and hosting allows me to share a little piece of that with travelers—whether they’re visiting for family events, ISU happenings, or just a relaxing getaway. I genuinely enjoy creating a space where people can feel at home, reconnect, and make lasting memories. If there’s ever anything you need during your stay, I’m just a message away and always happy to help. I take pride in offering a home that reflects the warmth, hospitality, and charm of Ames.
Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because of its peaceful setting and unbeatable location. Being tucked away at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac gives the home a private, relaxed feel, but you’re still minutes from everything Ames has to offer. The adjacent park and walking trails add so much charm—it’s the kind of place where kids can play safely, you can enjoy your morning coffee with a serene view, and still be close to the university, shops, and restaurants.
What makes this property unique
What makes our property truly special is the combination of space, comfort, and location. With six bedrooms, two designated work spaces, multiple living areas, and a spacious deck overlooking a park, there’s plenty of room for families or groups to spread out and enjoy themselves. Whether you're playing air hockey or other games, grilling outdoors, or unwinding by the firepit, the home invites connection and relaxation. It's designed to feel like a true retreat, not just a place to sleep.
