Media Luna is located on the Gulf of Mexico, this island home has 55 feet of sliding glass doors opening onto the Gulf, offering magnificent sunsets, crystal clear water for fishing, swimming and snorkeling to see tropical fish.

RENTALS are SATURDAY to SATURDAY ONLY. Unless you are renting for more than 4 weeks.

The home features views of the horizon from every room and is on the sunset viewing side of the island. A private boat basin and dock surrounded by a decked seawall extends out into the Gulf providing a unique setting for morning coffee or sunset cocktails.

Designed for casual living, this half-moon shaped home has cypress-beamed ceilings, 3 NEW A/C units, 3 bedrooms, 2 recently updated full baths, a large multiple-seating area living room, fully equipped kitchen, linens provided, laundry room and enclosed 925 s.f. screened Florida room/screened in porch. All on one level. No stairs. Max of 6 adults with up to 2 children additional. No extra charges for normal cleanings. Excessive cleaning costs will be deducted from your security deposit. NO pets allowed. No exceptions.

The master bedroom at one end of the home has a king-sized bed and private bathroom. The other two bedrooms each have a queen and twin bed. There are four TVs, DVD player, black and white wifi printer, Comcast HIGH SPEED xfinity internet, phone & TV. Multiple desks and high speed WIFI make this home perfect for work from home or remote learning. Utilities and linens are included. Fully stocked kitchen including stemware for evening wine/cocktails and plenty of cookware/utensils. New countertops/backsplash so please use cutting boards and trivets or hot pads on it. Gas grill plus two charcoal grills for easy cooking.

Comcast TV & wireless 300+ HIGH SPEED internet service, & unlimited US, Canada, Mexico & Puerto Rico telephone calls. Fabulous quiet neighborhood, one road in-and-out, provides an excellent place for using our new bikes, jogging or walking.

Water is 20 steps from our back door. Gas grill plus two charcoal grills on deck. Circular driveway with covered parking. For ease of entering the seawall area, a 28' boat is the maximum boat length. Boat trailer can be parked away from driveway. Concrete fish cleaning station was made specifically for the home and the use of guests. Fish right off the seawall and dock.

Short drive to mulitple grocery stores, pharmacies and restuarants. 10-15 minutes from Sombrero Beach and 7 mile bridge. Plenty of places to rent boats, kayaks, and more nearby. Smooth paths for biking, running and walking. Only 45 miles north of Key West.

Please note: All rentals are SATURDAY to SATURDAY only. The City of Marathon Vacation Rental License code ordinance prevents rental homes to be rented for less than 7 consecutive days.

Great Time

The property was very comfotable and accomodating. The check-in process was simple and efficient. This property has great amenities to make the stay comfortable, relaxing, and fun. The house was very clean and just had the feel of a beach house especially with the water views and the spectacular sunsets. We has a great time fishing and lounging in the tidal pool. Would recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing time on the water.

Open gulf

Being right on the water was amazing! Kitchen had almost everything you could need and the beds were comfortable. We had a really great stay. Host was quick to respond and we’d go back again. Thanks for sharing your home!

Great sunset views over the gulf

Property was cozy. George and Mary added nice touches to make for a homey stay. Kitchen has anything you could possibly need. Was intrigued by all the sea life in their pooled in area. Crabs, jellyfish, zebra fish, and many more. The Dolphins swam within 50 feet of their seawall. Very relaxing stay

Relaxing Stay in Marathon

Thank you for the relaxing stay at your home. My kids enjoyed snorkeling, swimming, and fishing right from the dock. We also were able to rent a boat and use the protected dock area. Thanks again for a great stay.

Great stay at Media Luna

My family and I stayed at Media Luna for Christmas. We had a great time. The property is as described and was great for my family. The location of the priority was also great and close to everything on marathon. Watching the sunset from the property was amazing. Would definitely stay again.

Family vacation!

Very clean and well laid out house. Quiet neighborhood, fishing off the dock was fun. Great location. The screened in patio was nice but it was very hot in the afternoon.

Winter Break

We stayed in this home with 2 families with younger but school aged children. It was a perfect fit. We were close enough to Key West to shop and explore but could head back to the house near dark as well. Sombrero Beach was wonderful as well. We had a great stay!

Great location and layout

We traveled with our two young daughters and my brother and his wife. The layout of the home was great for our group and we had plenty of space to spread out. We cooked while there and found the kitchen to be adequate for most of what we wanted to prepare. The benches were great for watching the sunsets and the neighborhood was quiet at night.

Great Location but needs a lot of updates

the property is in an excellent location. quiet and beautiful, we even saw a manatee swim by. All of the appliances are old and the amenities in kitchen were all in need of upgrades. The grill was very dirty and we decided not to use it as it needed a good cleaning.

Absolutely loved this property!!!

This is a great property and will definitely return with my entire family for our next visit. The property is older but was not missing anything at all. Of all of the properties we have rented in the past this was the most well stocked home EVER! The location was fantastic and we loved the little boat cove and the wonderful unobstructed sunset views. We sat out on the benches and fished every day. And each day we were visited by manatees who swam right past us! Bev, the owner, was super helpful and friendly and was always available for any questions. We will absolutely be back for another visit.

Great family home

We had a wonderful week at Media Luna. The house was perfect for us and comfortable. It has all you need to cook, relax and enjoy. We did rent a 25 foot boat which we were able to dock inside the lagoon. You do have to be a good driver to maneuver the boat into the lagoon. The sunset views were spectacular and there is a lot of seal life in the rocks around the seawall. My boys fished off the seawall and caught snapper, pinfish and a baby Goliath Grouper. Obviously we threw everything back. Great house and Bev was wonderful to work with.

A bit better than 4 star

We have always stayed on a channel for ease of use with our boat. The idea of wide open views of the gulf and not having to look across a channel at other people and houses was very appealing. It was a great decision. The sunsets, the screened in lanai area and the sea wall with dock were fantastic. Always something new to see and much quieter than the channel homes. Our party was 2 couples over 60 we have already booked it for next year. If you go there to fish the only thing missing was a small bait freezer not a hardship but a nice convenience.

Don’t stay here if you actually want to be on vacation

The property was ok. It’s old.The property manager is ungrateful and has forgotten what customer service is. We were nitpicked and given a list of chores that a housecleaning service should be responsible for, after the fact. We called about raw sewage leaking from the walls in the master bedroom due to a stoppage and we were given the runaround that someone from the City was coming to inspect and that it was the day before the Fourth of July. We were then later blamed for the stoppage when the host stated the plumbers had been there the week before. So, obviously this is an ongoing issue, not our fault. The dishwasher was full and running upon departure. The trash was overflowing when we arrived. You can’t load all of the bedding, that you slept on the night before, into the washing machine at one time. So, while there may have been sheets that weren’t washed, it was because the washer was already full and running. The beds were stripped and laundry left by the washer. With the strict 10am departure time, we would’ve had to get up at 4 am to have the entire list completed, which is insane. Not concerned when we were cleaning raw sewage water that was seeping through the walls. Health department violation. Fungus flies. House needs to be updated. Does have a nice view but not worth it having to deal with person who cares nothing about the quality of your stay but, bottom line only. Needs to hire a maid. Too many unreasonable demands. Don’t waste time or money.

DO NOT RECOMMEND - HORRIBLE NEW OWNERS

RENTER BEWARE – HORRIBLE NEW OWNERS JUST PURCHASED HOUSE **REVIEWS NOT ACCURATE TO REFLECT NEW OWNERS** Save yourself the hassle. There are plenty of better houses for rent with much better property owners. HOUSE IS OUTDATED AND FILLED WITH ANTS. After completing the numerous check out instructions the property owner charged for us an “additional cleaning fee” and made up all these bogus claims to justify charging us an extra fee. When asked for pictures as proof she sent 2 pictures. One of the floor with some dirt - mind you it was raining on check out day and normal cleaning is included per her rental agreement and the other picture was of decorative bed pillows put in the linen closet. She also let us know she usually only rents to family and friends so take all of the positive reviews with a grain of salt. We’ve stayed at numerous VRBO properties and never once lived such a nightmare. Trust me do yourself a favor and DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE EXTRA CHARGES ADDED AT THE OWNERS DISCRECTION!!!!

Everything you could want in a vacation rental and more! Kitchen was fully equipped - great that it had an ice maker. No need to bring beach towels or chairs, both are provided by owner. The location is perfect - right on the water with stores and restaurants nearby. Other than one day the weather was not good for fishing - high winds and surf - however, our first full day we saw lots of fish including a stingray and shark. My husband caught a puffer fish. We thought he was dead because he floated on his back when we threw him back in, but to our relief he blew out all the air and swam away. We would consider renting again if in the area.

The house was very nice. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and everything was overall very nice. The views were absolutely to die for and the neighborhood was very quiet and nice. We didnt feel crowded as grown children going our parents. We loved the back porch and the lagoon was so serene. We loved snorkeling around the seawall and in the lagoon. We spent more time at this place than we have at any rental we've gotten before. Ive added this to my list of possible places to stay again.

A great house at a fantastic location but...

Only one drawback. The property has not seen a stitch of groundskeeping in who knows how long? Walking out the back door or around the sides of the house and having to walk through piles of dead leaves, sticks, and around piled up ladders and too many garbage cans was a bummer. Not to mention leftover fish hooks and debris from previous guests on the breakwall.

Fabulous location on the Gulf

Two couples spent here fishing and relaxing. The house is exactly as pictured. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable with nice sheets and pillows. Bath towels were new and there were plenty of extra towels and blankets available. Seating in the den was comfortable. We enjoyed the screened in porch and saw nice sunsets. We had a 22 ft boat that was easy to maneuver in and out of the cove. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this house.

What makes this property unique

A breathtaking view from every bedroom and the living space along with a large screened in porch with plenty of seating really take advantage of the open water views. A covered carport keeps the car cool on a hot day as does all 3 of the NEW air conditioners. The only private seawall in Marathon offers perfect protection for boats and a great place to rest and relax as well as outstanding snorkeling a few steps from the home. Picture worthy sunsets are always worth celebrating!
