This condo was beautiful and very clean. It had everything you needed for your stay to be comfortable. Golf cart was a huge plus to get around Avalon. We had a great stay.
Everything was great. Catalina is becoming our home away from home. We enjoy staying in different areas. This was our first time in the condos. It’s so nice having all the amenities with a full house and a golf cart. We had a hiccup at booking, but Lamont made sure everything was taken care of. Also a small mishap with the golf cart, but they sent the mechanic immediately. Always nice staying somewhere with the owner accessible who takes care of any issues.
Great property. Great experience. The owner was so responsive it was great!

I'm sorry to hear you had issues with the golf cart, it's only 3 years old and it is maintained monthly. The golf cart is a Yamaha Quiet Drive and is the most quiet gas golf cart ever made. I didn't hear from you during your, so we didn't know you had any issues with "the cart being noisy".

Great location, but wouldn't return.
This was our first time renting a condo in Catalina versus staying at a hotel. Hamilton Cove is a bit of a drive from the town. It was about $22 for a taxi from the boat dock.
When we got into the room it smelled very strong like cleaner; however after spending some time in the condo it was obvious it wasn't very clean. There was hair in the shower and the floors were dirty. Overall it felt a bit grubby.
We quickly discovered that there was only 3 bath towels (for 6 people). We called the number for the property manager and it went straight to voicemail. We did end up getting more towels within a few hours.
When we were getting ready to put the kids to bed we realized there were no extra sheets for the pull out bed and zero pillow cases on any of the beds. I called again..voicemail again. A couple hours later I emailed the owner. We heard nothing back from anyone until after 9am the next morning. Then around noon we got some pillow cases.
Additional negatives were the constantly running toilet in the main hall, ants EVRYWHERE, limited kitchenware (no measuring cups or spoons), no soap in the bathroom, LOUD (if you leave the windows open at night because you're right above the street where the golf carts are parked), no ocean view, early checkout, and to top it all off we got blamed for breaking something that was already broken when we got there.
The few positives were the fun golf cart, the comfy couch, the TV that had Netflix, and Hamilton Cove in general.
In summary...would stay at Hamilton Cove again, but not at this place and definitely with an ocean view.

It was unfortunate that the property manager was on holiday during your stay, she had her staff filling in during that time. We never want to leave anyone with a negative view of the island, the complex nor our unit. Give me a call sometime so we can talk more about your experience. Cheers!

Bugs, Noisy and Rundown
We were extremely dissatisfied with this property. Nothing was as it was presented and we have pictures of everything listed below and would be happy to share with anyone that has questions.
The issues we had were as follows:
1. Lamont never completed the paperwork required for my family to get into Hamilton Cove. I send him two e-mails reminding him and he never followed up. When we got to the gate, they would not let us in and made us wait a half an hour until they could contact him.
2. The condo was extremely hot and stuffy. There condo is situated a way in that there is no breeze or airflow. There was one fan for two bed rooms, the living room and the kitchen. Needless to say one old fan was worthless for this amount of space and number of rooms.
3. Their is no view, except for the other condos and golf carts.
4. There is absolutely no privacy. The front balconies of the condos next door look directly into your bedrooms and family room.
5. The condo kitchen is filled with ants. When we arrived the first night, there were ant trails which we sprayed with ant killer. Thank God there was ant spray, but it's obviously a common problem since it was readily available. On would think the place would be cleaned for arriving guests. Then, the morning after we arrived, there were more ant trails from under the oven and from the wall behind the coffee pot.
6. The beds are like rocks, you would be better off sleeping on the floor.
7. When we arrived, the condo did not have all of its towels, to which Lamont left a message stating, I'm sorry they aren't there, but my cleaning lady couldn't get there in time, so she, Rosie, will be bringing them by tomorrow.
8. The toilet seat in the master bathroom is cracked and the door does not lock.
I am surprised the home owners association hasn't made him clean the place up.
BEWARE!

I'm not sure why your experience was such and negative one. I love staying in the unit when I come and so have the other over 300 guest that have stayed in the unit over the past 3 years that we've owned it. Have a fantastic week and take care.
We enjoyed 5 days at Hamilton Cove at this property and had a great time. Hamilton Cove is much quieter and much preferred to being in town. No noise, only ocean sounds. This unit is close to bottom of neighborhood and ocean.
It’s good to know a few more specifics about this property before you book:
PROS:
- large enough for 6 people
- 6 person golf cart included
- quiet and access to waterfront and neighborhood activities
- close to Descanso Beach and activities there
- nice recent renovation
CONS:
- kitchen/dining table is not stable. The stools are flimsy and do not bear much weight. We had to bring in outside patio chairs for older family members, although they are high and difficult to get into
- pullout sofa mattress was old. Had to take off sofa to be comfortable and out on floor
- upper of two ovens heated dreadfully slow
- had trouble with ovens and stovetop heating. Instructions would be helpful.
- location and instructions for laundry were not anywhere. We finally found laundry
- equipment is not easily available for neighborhood activities: golf, croquet, tennis (suggest bring own if you can). Some equipment not available in property.
We just enjoyed a few wonderful days at Lamont’s place. The Hamilton Cove area was beautiful and the included golf cart made getting around the island super easy.
The unit was very newly renovated and was gorgeous. The blue kitchen cabinets with the brass/gold accents made it look fresh out of an HGTV remodel.
The space was great. Awesome and functional kitchen and I was pleased to learn the freezer made ice. We didn’t use the oven but the microwave was super handy for reheating leftovers, and having the dishwasher was perfect. There are new pots and pans, dishes, silverware and cooking items.
The toaster was handy for making bagels and frozen waffles and we enjoyed the coffee maker. Hamilton Cove is beautiful but there aren’t any little pastry shops to walk to get a croissant and a coffee.
The couches in the living room were comfy and could accommodate all four of us (two adults, an 11 year old and a 10 year old) without a problem. The pull out sofa bed was completely acceptable for kids to sleep, but I would’ve opted for sleeping on the couch cushions because it was quite roomy.
Bedrooms were awesome. Queen bed in the guest room with nightstands that had plenty of drawer space for kid clothes. Master included a TV and king bed and another good chest of drawers. There was also a cute little balcony off the master. The closets in both bedrooms were expansive!
There was plenty of extra clean bedding and pillows, which we appreciated.
We loved the dual sinks in both the guest and primary bathrooms. My kids now want their own sinks at home (not happening). And my oldest posted a TikTok about how awesome the place is and said “not to flex” but it was totally a flex because the place is amazing.
Being the first guests in the unit post-renovation, I worried that we bothered Lamont about silly things but he was completely amazing and attentive. My primary concern was lack of blow dryer and I had one in my hand within an hour.
I read all of the prior reviews before we left for our trip. I brought extra towels (per a suggestion from a former guest) and we didn’t use them once. Plenty of towels. The toilets were replaced the week we arrived so they were wonderful! No concerns with flushing at all.
Both toilets did not flush, TVs did not work, Golf cart brakes failing, poorly equipped kitchen, several light bulbs burned out, very poorly decorated, ants, not very clean. I could go on and on.. I expected a lot more for what I paid.—What a ripoff. When I emailed Aaron Reeves and told him about the toilets and other problems he never responded! Rude and very unprofessional. I would never go back to this hole!! Claire

let me address all of these issue:
1) The guest never contacted the onsite property manager nor me about these issues, if they had, they would have been address immediately.
2) The toilet problems:
The chain in the toilet got stuck, this was resolved by the guest and then by our maintenance team.
3) The lack cleanliness:
If this had been expressed to any on our team during their stay, we would have had a team come and re-clean the unit to the guest satisfaction.
4) brake problem in the golf cart:
the cart is a year old and was just serviced by our mechanic 10 days ago, but again, this could have been do if the the guest made us aware of their concerns.

Location is great
I read lots of reviews mentioning ants. I figured this issue would be resolved by now. Wrong. There are ants in the kitchen and master bedroom. I wouldn’t call this place clean. The kitchen came with half a roll of one ply paper towels. No extras. Also a used sponge and barely any dish soap. I would not have expected that. Pretty gross. Good thing I brought my own sponge. Also make sure you bring toiletries. There was no shampoo, no shower gel. Just a tiny leftover hotel size lotion and conditioner in the bathroom. Also the bathrooms had used toilet paper rolls. This was surprising. Also nowhere near enough towels.Memorable in a bad way. Golf cart is awesome. The brakes are bad though and need to be repaired. We had a great time. Hamilton Cove is nice. Catalina is awesome. For the amount of money we paid for this place there are a few small upgrades that would have made a big difference. It would have been nice to have been left a welcome note with a few bottles of water, extra towels etc. little things make a big impression.
The ants will get anything you leave out. Bring or buy your own TP. The one ply is like sandpaper. The location and size were perfect. The golf cart made the trip because we were free to travel all we wanted. The cart was about due for service since it was the end of summer. The contact number on VRBO was wrong. Luckily I got an email from someone else. The gas station is open 24-7 if you use a card. Took .4 gallons after driving quite a bit. Overall was great and the kids had fun.

Needs update and no ants
The place is your typical rental.. not updated which is fine. But we had ants the entire time and the toilet by guest room doesn’t work since day one. I think with updates and ant control the place would be great:)
Nice visit to Catalina; Hamilton Cove is a great place
Nice stay once again in Hamilton Cove. This was an "OK" unit for us; one of us needed no-stairs access which this unit provides. Too bad there's no ocean view. The unit was not very clean; dishes were put away dirty. One shower valve broke on last day but these things do happen. It's strange that it's rated for 6 people but there are only 4 chairs at the table.
Enjoy sleeping with ants? This is the place for you!
Hamilton cove is beautiful, I highly encourage everyone to stay there. However, if you’re looking for the fun/beautiful Catalina vibe, this place is not it. There are so many other beautiful options in the area, I encourage you to do your research. This was an unfortunate mistake of a booking for us due to how busy this summer has been over there, and lack of inventory. The first night was fine, we honestly weren’t in the unit much this weekend, especially given that our friends unit down the road was beyond more comfortable to hang out at and had beautiful view.
Pros: spacious, big kitchen, golf cart was great. That is about it
Cons: no ocean view, dark, outdated, tried to make beds comfortable by placing extremely squishy padding on them, and it killed our backs, smelled like cigarettes (whoever cleans doesn’t empty the ash trey on the balcony and it resonates throughout the apartment), and last bit certainly not least, Ants. On the floors, and worst of all, in our bed. Thankfully this was only the second and last night of our stay, but it was unacceptable and skeevy. Other big con, whoever the property management is here needs a serious revamp, and some training on professionalism while communicating with people who paid to stay in your unit. If and when this happens to you, be sure to send photos immediately, even if it is at 10:30 at night, or else you too just paid hundreds a night to have a snuggle with bugs.
Sum of the story, if you have standards and want a fun vacation rental, I would suggest looking elsewhere, even if it means staying downtown and renting a golf cart. Thankfully we had a lovely weekend, this place did not play into a single ounce of that though.
The property is very run down. Needs painting. There were no pool or beach towels provided. It didn’t feel very clean. We are being charged for a stain on the comforter that we did not make. We were never in the condo except to sleep. Didn’t bring any food or drink in Except water. Very disappointing
I brought my daughter and her two friends here for a birthday surprise and it was perfect! The golf cart really added to experience and we were able to get around easily. The room was perfect! The only thing I would recommend is that you bring water shoes. The beach within Hamilton Cove is really rocky and everyone had more fun once we bought some water shoes.
We had a blast staying here. Although the pool was closed due to COVID, we had plenty of things to still do and the Golf Cart was a treat! maintenance was easy to get a hold of and came right away (we got the sink plug stuck! Ooops).
We hope to stay here in the future for sure!!!
