About this property
Mom's Heide-Way, quaint country escape from the DMV
Get ready to unplug, unwind, relax and make memories at Mom's house. Remember going to the country to visit Grandma? Being outside all day, playing in the creek, catching fireflies, stargazing and no bedtime?
Start your day with coffee on the spacious deck or inside the sunroom. Spend the day as you chose. Hike around the 100 acre property and see how many animals you can spot . Deer, squirrels, rabbits, turkeys, all kinds of birds (even the resident ravens) and maybe a bear. If you choose to leave the house for the day, there are many day excursions around the area. Hiking, biking, golfing, skiing, Civil War trenches, caverns, waterfalls and the Potomac Eagle Scenic Excursion Train. If water activities interest you, we have private access to the South Branch River, located just 10 miles from the house.
As evening approaches, prepare your supper in the fully stocked kitchen, a steak on the grill, a hotdog at the firepit, or eat out/order in at one of the local restaurants. Eat at the kitchen table or at one of the dining tables on the deck. You'll see one of the most beautiful sunsets there. Listen carefully and you'll hear the coyotes and whippoorwills. When you're finished catching fireflies, have a s'more and call it a night outside. Get settled inside in the living room to watch a movie or upstairs in the cozy bonus room. When you do decide to retire, climb into one of the many antique beds with comfy cotton bedding and quilts just like at Grandma's.
This property is located approximately 2 hours from the Washington/Baltimore area and conveniently located just 5 minutes from dentist, hospital, wellness center, grocery, pharmacy and dining. Shop in West Virginia's oldest town, Romney, just 10 minutes away for arts and crafts, fine jewelry, country décor, boutique clothing and more.
