John’s place was absolutely beautiful. A mix between modern and secluded. The place was calm, quiet and very beautiful. The place opened on three sides so you could take in the view (which was incredible.) The bed was cozy and the kitchen had all the amenities needed. If I ever come back to Maui, I would come back in a second. John was helpful and even offered to open his place up to up if we needed to evacuate South Maui during the most recent hurricane. This place is incredible! Book it!

Our stay here was a superlative experience. The house is such a beautiful and unique space. Check-in was smooth and the space was well kept. John was a joy to meet and was incredibly flexible about our arrival and departure. We stayed here for the first few days of our trip to Hawaii and are at the Grand Wailea for the rest. If we could do it over, we would have just booked the full week here.

John’s place is amazing! Secluded & private that makes you feel you’re in a treehouse. Directions can be a little tricky but if you turn into the field just past Kaokoa Way & keep driving you’ll be amazed. John is a great guy & really treated us like family. Would definitely stay there again!

Immediately upon arriving at the house we felt relaxed and like we were truly on vacation. John, the host, greeted us and helped answer our questions. The sunsets each night from the deck were beautiful. We spent so much time on the deck with all the doors open. We’d highly recommend staying here!

John is amazing. We enjoyed getting to chat with him and we appreciate his help with the check in and check out process. John also had amazing food recommendations, one of which ended up being my wife's favorite stop of the entire trip, even when I had used multiple weeks of planning lol. The pole house doors are nice to let the air flow through, just note that there will be a presence of mosquitoes. The fans were helpful for keeping the room cool, and I thought the loft was a pretty neat and cute space even though we didn't use it much. We enjoyed using the blender to make smoothies and the toaster worked well for heating things up in lieu of a traditional oven. The thing I appreciated the most was the use of laundry detergent on the linens and bed materials that was hypo allergenic, as I am allergic to fragrances and had not requested accommodations for that. If you want to see a sunset from the pole house then the house is situated well to do so. We would love to visit you again John!

We had a wonderful stay at The Pole House. John was an incredibly attentive host who went above and beyond, even bringing us fresh produce from the upcountry farmers market on the day we arrived. He also provided great local recommendations that really enhanced our trip. The views are absolutely spectacular, and the property itself is peaceful and tranquil—perfect for a relaxing getaway. We especially loved the open-air design, which made the experience feel refreshing and unique. Just be aware that, as part of the natural setting, you may spot the occasional gecko. We highly recommend The Pole House and would gladly stay again!

This was a traumatizing & horrible experience while being on this property. We came here for our honeymoon. It was supposed to be an enjoyable, peaceful, and private experience at this home, but it became something straight out of a horror movie. The host had random strangers walking around the property. All of the linens, towels, etc., he provided us, all of the amenities, were stored on the lower level in non-climate controlled conditions outside - even worse they were all exposed to the swarms of ants, spiders, cockroaches & his cat he allows to roam the property. Swarms of ants were coming through the kitchen sink and bathroom shower & sink constantly. There were spiders in every corner of the home. The host acknowledged his cat poops & pees in front of the guest-provided laundry unit - my husband stepped in the cat poop. We could not enjoy being on the balcony because the property is heavily exposed to all the outside elements. We experienced many sanitation concerns & it felt unsafe. I was crying every night and we eventually left a day early. The host ignored my messages when I reached out with my concerns, the host refused to give us a refund. This was the worst home I ever stayed in.

What a special time we had at this house! It was convenient to all areas of the island and right on the Road to Hana. The house was clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable and had everything that we needed. Though there are many activities in Maui, we found ourselves at the house enjoying the breeze and the view. John is a gracious host and we highly recommend this property.

We loved staying at the Pole House! It really does feel like a quiet retreat in the jungle canopy. The open floorplan and floor-to-ceiling teak and glass doors provide the right breeze for any time of day. We especially enjoyed watching the geminid meteor shower from the comfort of an outdoor couch on the wraparound veranda.John was a gracious and welcoming host! If you do book with John, be sure to coordinate your arrival with him, so that he can guide you to the parking and stairway.

We had a wonderful stay at John’s farm! The views were absolutely beautiful, and we loved being surrounded by the banana plants. John was a generous host and shared fresh avocados and bananas with us, which was such a treat. The location was great—close to farmers markets and delicious restaurants. We really enjoyed the peaceful, open-air atmosphere and would recommend this unique stay to anyone visiting the area.

Great rustic house with an amazing view and all the amenities. It's an open-air design that really allows you to feel like you're outdoors from anywhere in the house. It also means that "nature" is free to join in once in awhile, which was fine by us. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future. Thanks John!
