Our stay at Uan Kyoto was wonderful. We had three groups and we each stayed in a different unit. Four stayed in Kaze. The facilities are newly renovated and everything is thoughtfully arranged. The beds were comfortable and the washer/dryer was especially helpful. We also really liked being in a quiet section of Kyoto, away from the busy downtown, but still close to the JR and the large parks and shrines/temples. We would absolutely stay here again!
We stayed for eleven nights while visiting family and friends. The accomodation instantly felt like our home away from home and the hosts we're always available to answer any of our questions. We would definitely recommend this location to anyone visiting Kyoto.
Great place to stay in Kyoto for a few days with a family. Lovely house close to subway, restaurants and many temples. Really easy and good to deal with.
We had 6 people and it was the perfect space for us. The house was in the perfect area for us located close to things we wanted to see and transit options. The host was quick to respond to any questions and even provided us with a book of some recommendations! We had a great experience for our first time in Japan
The location of this property was fantastic. We were close to several shrines and temples, public transport options and convenience stores. Our only mistake was to assume more would be open over new year period.Mika was a lovely host who made our stay very comfortable and easy. Thoroughly recommend if you are looking for a more traditional part of Kyoto. Property had everything our group of 10 needed and we all loved our stay.
We really enjoyed our stay in Kyoto. We arrived on Oct 22. Every year on the 22nd of October there is a very large celebration which we were not aware of. This started our visit to Kyoto on a wonderful note. Our place was just as pictured and in a nice quiet neighborhood. We will stay here again if we get the opportunity to visit Kyoto again

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay in our Kyoto home. It was a pleasure to host you, and we hope to welcome you back on your next visit to Kyoto!
This is a traditional house in a traditional neighborhood, but for westerners like us the dining room chairs and comfortable beds were welcome. Communication with the owner and office was great, and Sakoru met us at the house to explain everything and had excellent suggestions for dinner and activities (much guidance in a book in the house as well).
The house itself is well laid out. The two bedrooms are at far ends of the house. There is one bathroom but the toilet area is a separate room from the shower/bath area.
The neighborhood is great, with a variety of excellent eating options from Michelin star to inexpensive.

Thank you so much for your kind and detailed review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our traditional house and that the mix of Japanese charm and Western comforts, like the dining chairs and beds, made your visit more relaxing.
It’s wonderful to know that our suggestions for dining and activities, as well as the guidebook, were helpful during your stay. We’re glad you found the layout of the house convenient and enjoyed exploring the fantastic neighborhood with its variety of dining options.
It was a pleasure hosting you, and we truly appreciate your thoughtful feedback. We hope to welcome you back on your next visit to Kyoto!
Best regards,
Satoru
Our family of ten (eight adults and two kids) rented two of Uan Kyoto's lovingly renovated homes in the Higashiyama neighborhood of Kyoto in April. We all agreed Uan is one of the best properties we've ever stayed in: perfect location in a quiet neighborhood yet an easy walk or bus ride to all the sights, right next door to two different temple complexes, and excellent local dining (try Jyujyu Tonkatsu!) Managers Satoru and Mika were prompt and friendly in their communications, even going so far as welcoming us in person (at 8:00 pm) and making restaurant reservations for us (complete with numerous last-minute changes, sorry Mika!) While both spaces are on the small side (especially Kaze with its tiny common area) we were mostly out and about so we didn't mind being cozy. Two of Kyoto's most prestigious hotels are within a block or two so you know Uan is in a great part of town. (The Westin's buffet, while expensive, was one of our favorite meals.) We really enjoyed visiting the less crowded northern sites like Nanzenji, the Keage Incline and canal museum, the Lake Biwako canal cruise, Mt. Hiei and Sanzen-in Temple in Ohara. We didn't get there this trip but Arashiyama would be easy to reach, while Nara is a quick ride on the Kintetsu-Nara line. All in all, we highly recommend Uan Kyoto!
The location was great. The Kaze house was small, but comfortable for 3 people. The house was clean, the beds comfortable. The kitchen worked well. The laundry worked well. The property manager met us to let us in and inform us about the house. I highly recommend staying here. Barbara P

Hi. My name is Kei. I was born and raised in Kyoto. My family has lived here for more than 250 years. I renovated my houses and started B&B simply because it's very fantastic to meet new guests and to have conversations with them. As a genuine Kyotoite, it would be great if I can show you the core beauty of Kyoto.
