About this property

New rental on desirable Keoka Lake: Lovely lakefront cottage 4BR, 2BA

This quintessential Maine cottage is nestled among tall pines on the shore of desirable Keoka Lake, which, along with hikeable Mount Tire’m, was created by glacial activity 10,000 years ago. Keoka is a haven for fishing (brook trout, landlocked salmon, bass), paddling and boating, but it is quiet compared to the bigger lakes. The cabin itself is spacious, with 4 bedrooms (3 queen, 1 full, 2 twin), 2 bathrooms (shower only), full kitchen, living room and enclosed porch facing the water. The master bedroom and common areas are air conditioned, and there is a wood stove for chilly nights. Off the enclosed porch, there is a small deck with a propane grill. There is a waterside “patio” to the left of a gently sloped, private sandy water ingress, and a dock, where you can tie up the house canoe. Swimming it’s great for younger kids. My kids are 6 and 10 and I love that the water is fairly shallow until the end of the dock. For reference, my son is 6 and can stand until the end so I have a good guide of when to tell him to back up. It’s gradual too, not a steep drop off. And for toddlers, there is plenty of room to splash around near the sandy beach. The property includes a fire pit and a hammock. This property is stunning, and serves both as a retreat and a base camp for exploring southern Maine. Here, you are less than 30 minutes away from Sunday River (and Bethel), Shawnee Peak, Mount Pleasant Ski Area, and Oxford Casino; less than 20 minutes away from the picturesque towns of Norway, Bridgton and Harrison, which feature more lakes and most of the area’s best restaurants, cafes and breweries; and less than 10 minutes from Mount Tire’m, Hawk Mountain, McWain Pond, Bear Pond, Long Lake, Crystal Lake, and Bear Mountain Inn. The property is about an hour away from Portland (and Portland restaurants), Storyland in Glen, NH, and Santa's Village in Jefferson, NH.

The house on Keoka Lake fit the description perfectly. The layout worked well for our family with one room and bathroom at one end of the house for our family member with a 6 month old baby. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the pots, pans, dishes, mugs, etc. We really appreciated the fact that there were things like tin foil, baggies and plastic wrap. Those items can be very annoying to purchase while on vacation. We spent a lot of time on the screen porch that had a nice view of the lake and a cool breeze. The lake was lovely. It was generally quiet with just a few motor boats that made short runs. We liked the sandy bottom and easy entry for swimming and kayaking. We spend many evenings watching the sunset and moon rise on the dock. The water in the lake is amazing clear. We also enjoyed the fire pit one evening. We were pleasantly surprised to find very few annoying bugs in late June and early July. Maybe it was the many dragon flies on the lake gobbling up the bugs. We enjoyed the town of Norway, walks on land trust property and close by hikes with nice views. Nicole was very responsive and considerate. Before our trip she let us know that she had learned that the neighbor would taking down a few trees while we were there and offered us some options. The house has easy to follow instructions for things like the fire pit.We highly recommend the house, the lake, the area and the wonderful host.

Wonderful and relaxing property. Great location on the lake. It was very close to Bridgton. We had plenty of room for everyone in the cabin. The canoe and swimming were great! We did notice that there were ants inside the cabin when it was warm and they went away after a few days when it cooled down.
