Wonderfully Comfortable Cottage

Heaney's cottage definitely made us feel as welcomed flowers of May! The whole place was clean and the beds were comfortable! There were pillows for all types of sleepers and more! There was so much material on sites, food and activities. We wished we would have stayed twice as long. Close enough to drive to Cliffs of Moore and Bunratty castle just to name a few!

This vacation property is absolutely amazing! We rent a lot of homes and this is definitely the best one that we’ve ever been in. The owner is absolutely delightful. The kitchen was well equipped, and everything you need for a fantastic vacation was present. The location is excellent. It’s just enough out of town to be in the country, but you can be in the village in about eight minutes. Also, there is public transportation and a train that goes into Galway from Oranmore.

About the host

I’m from Maree, where this cottage was built and it’s a place I’ve always been proud to call home. I enjoy sharing this area with guests because it has such a special mix of community, scenery, and activities by the bay. Hosting gives me the chance to welcome people to a space that’s both comfortable and memorable, while helping them experience the best of Galway. I take pride in offering thoughtful touches and am always happy to give tips or recommendations to make each stay extra special.

Why they chose this property

I chose this area because Maree has always been home, and it’s a truly special place to me. My brother built this cottage here, in a community that is peaceful, welcoming, and safe. Within just a mile, you’ll find Galway Bay Golf and Country Club, Galway Bay Sailing Club, and Renville Park—perfect for outdoor activities and enjoying the stunning scenery. Oranmore, the nearest town, offers a wonderful selection of pubs, restaurants, and local charm. What I enjoy most about this area is the balance of calm countryside with the convenience of nearby amenities, all set against the backdrop of Galway Bay.

What makes this property unique

What makes this cottage unique is the mix of privacy, comfort, and character. Set back from the road with its own driveway and parking, it offers guests peace and quiet while still being close to everything Galway Bay has to offer. Inside, you’ll find a cozy living room with a wood-burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen, and bedrooms dressed with Sheridan sheets and Christy towels for a touch of luxury.
The outdoor space is equally special, with a private seating area, fire table, and a handcrafted wooden boat feature called An Bhanríon (“The Queen”), named in memory of my mother. It’s a one-of-a-kind detail that gives the cottage its own story and charm, while providing a unique backdrop for relaxing evenings outdoors.
