Great house in a great location. Host is very professional. Home had everything we needed. I grew up on St. Simons and this house is one of the last originals left that give you the old island feel I remember. House is well done with plenty of bathrooms and places to relax. We had a great experience.

Cozy little house, quiet neighborhood, 6 min walk to the beach, enjoyed the pool, swing, grill and fire pit. Short drive to Jekyll Island to see Driftwood Beach and the Sea Turtle Center. Enjoyed a sunset dolphin cruise, dinner in the village, and more. Perfect spot if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful get away.

The house is old at a great location - very quiet and close to the beach. However, upon arrival, we had several issues that were not handled correctly and made our stay quite unpleasant and disappointing to be honest. First of all, there are 2 cameras that are kind of hidden (no privacy!) and not mentioned anywhere! The communication is quite impersonal (you get bombarded with automated messages that are not specifically tailored to your stay/house). The nightly price is insanely high for what you get as a house and amenities, to which I'll get in a little bit here. Upon entering the house and walking though it, I saw several large dead cockroaches throughout the house (bedrooms, living rooms, kitchen, bathrooms). There is a squished dead lizard on the door frame of the second bedroom. There were cotton pieces/trash in quite a few places. The pool and outdoor furniture and whole area were quite dirty (not cleaned for at least a month or so)! The pool was plainly disgusting! When I reached out to the host, she only addressed the outdoor furniture and sent someone to blow it off. I then asked again about the pool, to which she stopped responding until I reached out to VRBO, and then she finally (2 days later) sent someone to clean it. They also want to nickel and dime you for everything (50 per day to heat up the dirty pool)! There was no hot water in the kitchen (was turned off) and bathroom (2nd bath). There are threatening signs about the use of AC and leaving doors open!

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear your stay did not meet your expectations. This home is an older beach property in a highly sought-after, quiet location just steps from the beach, and many guests specifically choose it for its charm and proximity to the beach access. Prior to your arrival, the home was thoroughly inspected and prepared for check-in. The pool was skimmed the day of arrival, and our pool company returned the day after check-in for scheduled maintenance. During this time of year on St. Simons Island, we experience extremely heavy pollen, leaves, and debris falling from the surrounding trees, and our team works hard to keep outdoor areas clean and pleasant despite these coastal conditions. We also sent a team member to the property shortly after your concerns were reported, and the pool was confirmed to be crystal clear. Photos were provided to you at that time as confirmation. Regarding the insects mentioned, palmetto bugs are unfortunately native to the coastal Southeast and are common throughout the region, particularly during warmer months and after rain. The home is on a professional pest control schedule -occasional sightings can still occur in this environment. Pool heating fees are standard throughout the vacation rental industry due to the significant cost of heating a large pool. The notices regarding the air conditioning are not intended to be threatening. They are simply there to help protect HVAC systems and your experience.
